Hi everyone, thanks for joining the premiere of our workshop series today! If you'd like to see more of these videos, please be sure to leave a like, share the video and subscribe to our channel.
One more comment... Emre you have literally re-imagined the possibilities of classical guitar. I don't think anyone could have imagined your arrangements years ago. This is seriously a dream come true for people like me who live and love this instrument. It's beyond words how much we appreciate what you are doing for our beloved instrument!!!
*@Krazu Altera* and *@Vincent Maloney,* Both of you are right. But please let us not pollute this discussion that is about art and artist. Thank you both.
I was a great fan of Emre ever since I stumbled upon the LAGA channel. One of my favorite pieces was his arrangement of Rondo Alla Turka and it was a dream of mine to play it. Since I didn't have the money to buy the music sheets online, I watched the youtube video hundreds of times and did slow-practice for two months. And in the third month, I was finally able to play it. It was such a good achievement since I was planning to play it in one of my recitals. All those hard work of slowing the video to .25 speed and watching every movement were all worthwhile. I nailed the piece in my recital. Even my friend, who was an in the advance level in guitar, complimented me. This channel mean a lot to me. And I'm a great fan of you and your arrangements, Emre. I've watched a lot of your videos and copied it since I didn't have the money to buy your music sheets but nevertheless, your playing and this channel is really an inspiration for me. I will pursue the guitar in hopes that I get to meet you someday. :))
Actually, if there is one thing I have learnt from your videos it is that slow practice is the most effective way of mastering/understanding a piece. So often we are seduced by speed, especially in other genres - rock for example - so that we often measure a guitarist by how fast they can play. But slow practice encourages ‘mindfulness’. An awareness of the moment in which one is playing. Thanks.
the challenge of most classical pieces (and I think most will agree) is that they ALL have those sections that are crazy difficult that are what I call the "gate keepers" to advancing. Ex. The artificial harmonics and cross string trills in Granados' Oriental No.2... those sections are crazy hard BUT it's what makes the piece so incredible. I have to play those parts SO SLOW to work out the details.
For people with arthritis and short fingers, I always have to start slow. But I realized that I can remember the whole piece in fewer try. The problem with short fingers is hard to make a full bar with other three fingers still move freely. Hope you will point a way to practice. Love your class, love your gentleman way of teaching. Thank you very much.
Great lesson, thank you. More often than not, my own muscle memory is such that I am actually unable to play it slow. This holds especially true for pieces I have learned a long time ago with known inefficiencies and ingrained mistakes that are hard to cure. Letting my hand do the job, the conscious brain just listening with honestly no idea what is really happening.
Emre thank you very much for this excellet class. It was so valuable and refreshing. Thank you for sharing your great knowledge with us. Your explanations are very clear and so valuable. I really feel fortunate and greatful that I was able to see it. Also the outside scenery of the first part, the atmosphere, the trees, the lake were beautiful as a back stage. Thank you great artist!
Thank you so much for this amazing lesson/series and also for your amazing arrangements and transcriptions. What an incredible musician, guitarist and educator you are!
Emre abi, senin videolari yaptigin icin tesekkür etmek istiyorum. Heres an idea for Patrons and a series on RUclips, you could accept video submissions of viewers playing the guitar, and review their technique and show it on RUclips. I learned Danse macabre from you and would love to send a submission. Btw you totally inspired me with your crazy arrangements and I'm gonna study the hell out of this and learn from you as much as possible.
Great video. For me, slow practice is also where you develop security. Many people play through a piece slowly and it sounds great five times in a row, but they're striking the same note at different places on the pad of their finger. That is not secure! It needs to sound secure, but it also needs to feel secure.
Türkiye'den selamlar hocam. Derslerinizi takip ediyorum Türkçe altyazılı olması çok işime yarıyor. Ayrıca Türkçe içerik de görmek isterim :) teşekkür ederim emeğiniz için
If I practice a certain part of a piece to master it. How many times should I repeat it per practice before moving on to the next drill? Is 10 times enough or should I aim for doing it 20 times perfectly? Because i dont want to be doing the same repetitions for over a hour.
Emre çok güzel müzisyen, fakat gördüğüm kadarıyla hiçbir Türk'e cevap vermiyor. Ben öğrencilere örnek olarak göstermeye devam ediyorum. Ne diyelim... Yolu açık olsun.
Bu onun kişisel kanalı değil. Los angelis'deki okulunun kanalı. Böyle bilmeden saçmasapan imalı imali konuşmayın. Bunu açıklayan teşekkür videosu bile çekti.
This is the most talented guitar player I’ve ever seen. And unfortunately he’s never gonna get the fame or accolades of Clapton or Hendrix or slash or page. They’re mere amateurs compared to his level of playing .

This guy is truly one of the best guitarists in the world, and quite possibly the best classical guitarist of all time, truly a marvel!

Arguably the best classical guitarist in the modern era.
I'm excited for this series. I've been enjoying your performances for many years now.
You've been doing good work online for years. Good luck with everything!

An excellent tutorial for the masses, including me. Bravo!
This is why I love your sheets and tabs. All the best fingering is already set in the material. The best!
