I love what you do I have all your guides, looking forward to using them this year. Like you I’m not into negative comments , can’t understand why you would watch something you were not enjoying. RUclips seems a lot of work for very little reward.
Very honest and interesting, I started watching you because you were on Arran and that’s where I come from and stay. Most folk doing content on Arran get many things wrong and it gives me an excuse to shout at the telly lol. Got to say that’s your expertly produced content is far superior , better researched and a an easier watch than most if not all others. I enjoy them anyways especially in Winter when it’s pissing doon outside and I can check out parking spots in the highlands for the summer. Must get round to buying yer Arran guide lol.

I love watching your videos and listening to your podcasts including the rants to be honest you sound like me but I’m not brave enough to say on film. In life there’s always opinions that people won’t agree with, if we were all the same life would be boring. Keep up with what you’re doing and take as much time off what you need. We the good ones will there when you’re ready.
I don’t think I’ve ever watched a video and given a negative review, if I didn’t like it I simply wouldn’t watch anymore.
By the way I stopped playing football similar age to you and I wished I hadn’t stopped playing so keep going as long as you can if you’re enjoying it.
I remember the first NC500 video I watched, and listening to you going HARD in on the east coast. Being a slightly bias and defensive Scot I was like, who’s this *#%*#*%# guy slagging aff 🏴.
However the video was honest and sincere. Watched ever since, and you def are rivalling Foresty Forest and Will Whereabout for fav campervan/adventure YT channel. (For me).
We have a camper-van (slightly more modest than a Grand Cali - I’m not jealous, honest) and we also live in Ayrshire, with Arran being literally just across the water and we ended up buying your Arran guide, cos you clearly know the place better than us…

RUclipss definitely a challenging task. My first couple of videos I sought feedback - and whilst all were meant with good intentions, you cant please everyone and it can really hit the enthusiasm at first.
Loving the podcast Chris, it's great hearing the odd rant or two behind me on Spotify while I tie flies (Professionally)😉. Keep doing what you're doing but upload every day!! I'm always in front of my vise working ma wee fingers to the bone!!!.

I've watched all of your videos, I've now gotta go back and watch the first one again. 😆 I intend to get a campervan within the next 18 months, so watching your roadtrips is brilliant and even though I don't have a van yet I've bought your instant guides in preparation. So when I saw you were doing the new style vlogs, I wasn't sure whether I'd like them or not, BUT love 'em seeing you go off on one about different subjects cracks me up, so you gotta keep doing them now. 👍

Hello Chris, a way to improve your video rating is to make a 30 sec trailer of your own video at the beginning of your videos.

When I take out my camera looking for a certain shot I feel I don't see the wood for the trees, this is why I wouldn't do RUclips as time is too precious to lose it on NOT taking time to take it in, as your too busy looking for the next shot plus B roll and all that goes with it, I prefer to look at the trees then take the images if time allows,,,,, hope this makes sense and I'm sure,, well I hope you get time to take in the scenery as I love your content Chris,,, cheers Trevor
Really appreciate the hard work that’s gone into your guides it can’t really be a holiday for yourselves with the pressures of completing content for them. Doubt I’d have done the NC500 without finding your vlogs, now im hooked on Scotland and can’t wait to explore more up there. Ive still got plenty of ground to cover up there. Is that it for the guides or are you planning on covering other areas? I fancy the Atlantic way in Ireland but haven’t really found a decent guide on par with yours. Podcasts are ace by the way, love listening to them on the morning run.

I get the bit about recording taking over - need to be mindful of that. There's a whole bunch of insight in here, thanks for sharing. I'm just playing at YT to learn film making and editing skills for a RTW motorcycle trip in 2029
Kinda hit the wall after achieving monetisation, the strive to hit that target is no longer there.
The 50 hour a week full time job is draining my energy to then sit and edit.
Luckily i have another business that i started in 2017 which pays the bills. I would not have the luxury of having the house i do and the van without that. Id have to scale the house down to afford that using the money from the guides and scale the trips down too in order to do this without an additional income from my other business.

I know a couple of content creators with 3-4k subs, claiming to be full timing, but have other enterprises behind them.

@soggybawsmoto as you probably know mate the money really isn’t there just off Adsense. Launching products has really helped financially and I could do it on the back solely of them providing I didn’t live in the house I do currently. I am in the process of selling the house and downsizing everything so I can cover everything off RUclips and the books but I’m still in the process of transitioning from a past life to this one.

Retired earlier, went to several concerts, like Guns & Roses at Wembley, ears didn’t recover for days, slept really well for days.
Knees, back knackered having stood for 5 hrs.
Look after neighbours dog, dropped off at 8am, which means getting up early, then with walks, etc, I’m knackered.

Completely agree on lack of impartiality from people loaned a product to review (e.g. GC).
But genuine question not meaning be a knobhead!): do you really have regret about buying yours? Seems to me from your vids it's a love/hate thing, but underneath it all I'd guess you love it more than hate it/genuinely regret it?
I might be wrong on that, but if that's right then wasn't your 'regret' video intentionally provocative to gain views, and therefore therefore maybe also not entirely impartial either (albeit for different reasons)?
For the first 2 year or so I absolutely hated the van. I was genuinely gutted that I picked it and not something else. Now I can live with it okay as I’ve had it 3 year and generally understand how to deal with and fix most of the continued issues even when on the road.
I hugely regretted picking the grand California and not actually looking at other options. I hated the thing for a good chunk of time.

We bought ours after watching your vid, so it was really handy to know some of the frustrations, many of which we share...but were able to go into it eyes wide open, expecting them!
The squeaks and rattles are the most annoying part for me, but not sure that there are many (any?) vans out there that don't have those...

Yeah im feeling that exact same thing mate. Just dunno whether i want to do it long term, questioning whether its really what i want to do and not as fulfilling as it used to be.
Either way ive enjoyed the ride, just not sure what the future holds at this point!
