Stopped talking to my adult son after we paid $15k for a family holiday for him and his family to join us and he told us (on that trip) that he wouldn’t really be affected if we died but his sister would. We have done a lot for them and I am done. I’ll always love him but the rose coloured classes are now off. I know he is struggling but I’ve tried so hard to support him and his family, now I’m thinking of my husband and myself. We have a big chance to move overseas for work but I had said no because of family. Rethinking that now.

It’s always great parents like you who end with the adult children who don’t appreciate them. Go to Europe. Life is so terribly short and if you are blessed enough financially to move overseas do it. Do it for all the people who would love to but can’t because of poverty. Give your son the gift of consequences. Make him the put in effort to be in your life.
