  • Strongest militaristic late-game civs (with modern/atomic era unique units) from Steam Workshop will cover the entire continent with an infernal flame, and the living will envy the dead. Millions of men with their dreams and hopes were fated to be smashed by an industrial death machine that requires blood, oil and new territories. And only when cities will be in ruins, trenches will be filled with corpses and the survivors will lose all faith and hope, ages of hatred will end, and the long-awaited peace will come until new psychopaths lead new generations to the last slaughter.
    In this battle tech tree ends in the Atomic era.

    In the grim darkness of 20th century there is only war.
    No but seriously, Jesus Christ, look at this:
    - Turn 457, 1915AD, 225 pops ("225 milion people")
    - Turn 1010, 1961 AD, 161 pops ("161 milion people")
    This game was SUCH SLAUGHTER for people living in this world that after FIVE HUNDRED TURNS there is 64 LESS pops than before, despite constant demographic explosion and new people being born at mass rate all this time...
    - Washington in 1961 AD has smaller population than Washington in 523BC, 2500 years earlier
    - I actually tried to count how many pops die from war in 1914-1961 period and I gave up after 300 pops. Let's assume it's 300.
    300. 300 pops killed from city nuking, taking and starving. Among only 8 cities. The worst slaughterhouse I have ever seen in civ5.
    300 milions people killed in 40 years; I tried to estimate how much % of all people that lived in this period died in War, but realized it's pointless because we don't know how many died from natural reasons and how many births were.
    So, you may choose your lore: either 60 or 300 milions people were killed.

    Holy shit, that was intense. Even with the americans dominating the whole south, somehow the other three managed to fight them back until it was a perfect stalemate between the four, at which point Italy’s and Germany’s combined efforts took down America, leaving themselves weakened enough to be overtaken by the french. Beautiful game.

    America had such an advantage. I never thought they were going to fall to Italy. The biggest upset was when France took Berlin, they had a few surprise captures like when they took Moscow the first time. I did not think they were going to end up with it, sure they didn't hold it long, but they still took it first.
    In the end, France, of all the civs yo win, it was France...

    It would suck to live pretty much anywhere in this world, but I think Tokyo may be the worst of all. The city was under siege for about half of the game. It was the front line for multiple major wars (multiple major wars between the U.S. and Russia, the U.S. and Germany, Germany and Rome, and Rome and France). The city was also nuked multiple times, and it fell at least 9 times. Washington would also be a pretty bad city to live in, but I think Tokyo wins the award for worst city overall.

    I have a question: was Rome's civ Italy? And either way I didn't expect it lasting until the end and being the last civ to fall. For most of the video it had only Rome, while being surrounded by the giant nations that was America first and later Germany in the East and by England and later France in the North.
    At 4:21 it was just a turn away from getting conquered by England, but it survived and even conquered the American Empire.

      Well France actually performed good during WW1, being capable of stopping German invasion (Germany had much bigger population and thus economy and army back then) and having many heroic sacrifices on the way. Its heroism in WW1 bled nation so badly it was unwilling to go into WW2, and lost legitimate invasion, only to come back with allies anyway (who survived because they were safe behind seas).

      France surrendered within first year of the war... with superpower which conquered or annexed 9 other European countries (at least it actually fought, unlike Czechoslovakia) and which almost defeated freaking Soviet Union. It didn't lose against some random weakling.
      And even if it did, well besides ww2 bad performance France has like 50 other historical wars it won so well. Just another country.

    • @rovsea-3761
      @rovsea-3761 6 лет назад +3

      The reason the French surrendered so early in WW2 is because of a large scale strategic failing to anticipate the German method and route of assault. In other words, their entire army got caught in the wrong position and surrounded, and they had nothing left to defend with. If the French had maintained their army's integrity through better maneuvering, we'd not have much to quibble over now, because the French really did have a professional, modern army going into WW2 that would have given the Germans a run for their money.

      ww2 we were expecting the germans to go to belgium and we sent our army to belgium AND MET the germans in belgium,
      because of the refugees slowing us we werent able to take position at the dyle river so we had to fight them head on without our defensive positions prepared
      they managed to push us at flavion but we managed to push them at Hannut, it is at the ardennes forest that we thought they wouldn't be able to pass but they did (exactly like at the battle of the bulge!)

      @AurestoMC 5 лет назад +2

      @@fireredemblem4943 It became popular to make fun of France when they decided not to invade Irak alongside Americans (btw they were right to do so). But yeah it mainly relies on the early fall during WWII due to bad maneuvers and bad decision making (and a popular general who wanted to save lives but sacrificed freedom for this, which causes De Gaulle to lead a resistance from London).
      And that would be a total unfairness to say that they surrendered in WWI (fought until the end on their soil, even committing with taxis to carry troups when trains were shut)
