Commentator is being very harsh. This was only Wilder's 7th pro fight, who is he supposed to fight? Tyson fought about 20 bums in a row before he fought someone decent.
Love that right hand! Looks like Basketball player at heavyweight. So far he reminds me of if a Hearns/Dawson type fighter. I want to see Wilder start jabbing to the body more in the future.
Teddy’ analysis of Wilder would prove true against Fury. However, it was amazing Wilder’s accompshment without having much in the form of boxing skills. Teddy was kind of harsh though and overlooked WIlders talent. With limited boxing skills he ended being HW champion and defended it 10 times. However Teddy’s analysis was correct when he finally faced a skill-guy in Tyson Furry. Had Wilder had a more solid foundation as a boxer he might have been able to beat Fury in one or two of their fights and held onto the belt awhile longer. I actually thought Wilder won the first fight and showed decent skills, while going with those two knockdowns. Teddy’s insight was a mixed bag, that was a little overly harsh and overlooked Wilders talent and toughness, but proved largely true against Fury.
@acn10 thats true but with his lack of experience you dont want to put him in with better comp until he fills a couple holes in his game, angelo dundee did simlar things with sugar ray leonard and look how good he got.
@whiskeygoggles actually he is one of the few prospects that may amount to something. Teddy was being harsh it was his 7th fight! He is now 20-0 and is stepping up the competition and climbing the rankings.
a little more movement and a little muscle would do him good I think. He is just getting ready for the bigger fights, give him some time to get experience and 12 round stamina. His chin seems to be okay, he gets rocked sometimes
let's see what wilder can do when someone finally gets a good hit on him. that being said, funnest big man to watch since the klitchko brothers. wilder is real raw, but talented and physically a beast. should be fun to see what he develops into.
This commentary proves that Teddy Atlas really doesn’t know as much about boxing as he says. At 4:30 he says brings up “Thurman” and how both Thurman and Wilder are fighting bums and not learning. For anyone wondering, yes, he’s talking about Keith Thurman who beat Travis Hartman just before this fight with Wilder. He’s saying that these two future world champions and elite level fighters aren’t learning both men would go on to hold world titles for several years and both have only lost to the best fighters in the world (Manny Pacquaio and Tyson Fury).
Its funny Atlas says he is all about his right hand while the guy is throwing pistol jabs with a 7 foot wingspan. Yeah he is raw but clearly he has one major thing going for him beside his right.
Tyson was also about 18 when he was building his record while Wilder is in his mid 20s and has about 30 pounds on Tyson as well as 7 inches in height. But either way to me Teddy shouldn't be hating on someone fighting an easier fight in their 7th fight like Wilder was here.
carrastealth different times tho... mike in his prime .. would knock out most of the heavy weights at the time.. before he went on coke sadly, lost his edge....even now most heavy weights are bumbs..
Raphael Garcia imo Cus' death is what started the downward spiral, and also the fact that Tyson was so good in his era he pretty much accomplished everything there was to accomplish in the heavyweight division by 21. To hit the top so quickly so fast and not having the mentors as he lost both of them as he was on his way to the top there was only one real direction to go from there. I am glad he has bounced back in his life though.
Jim Morrison Tyson beat the best Heavyweights that were around. So we can't blame him for his era. Beating Spinks, Holmes, Berbick, Tony Tucker who was 34-0, Tyrell Biggs, Toby Tubbs, Razor Ruddock. Those were the best guys that were around then and all were champions and Tyson beat them all. So Tyson deserves the credit for dominating the era he was in. Heck lets compare other heavyweight champion era's after him. Lennox Lewis' biggest name on his resume is Shannon Briggs, the overrated David Tua and an over the hill Mike Tyson. Vitali's biggest win wasn't even a win, it was a loss to Lennox Lewis and aside from that the biggest name on his list was Chris Byrd..whom he also lost to. So I guess Vitali's claim to fame was leading by 2 rounds against Lennox Lewis..and then beat Kirk Johnson for the title. His brother Wladimer's biggest name on his resume is Sam Peter and a one eyed Lamon Brewster in a revenge match and Calvin Brock and oh yeah David Haye. And even if we look at Holyfield's 'reign' the only reason it gets significant talk at heavyweight is because of the trilogy with Riddick Bowe. Aside from that an out of his prime Mike Tyson and a draw and loss to Lennox Lewis. The "golden age of heavyweight competition" ended with Spinks and Holmes. Since then you can look at the list of all heavyweight champions after and say "eh... not that impressive." The only difference is that only Tyson and Lewis unified the championships. But in all honesty the 'golden age' where there was competition in the heavyweight division and everyone had a name there ended with Spinks/Holmes if we're all being honest. Even still, Mike Tyson dominated his era. Lewis dominated his era. Wlad and Vitali dominate their eras. Neither of those era's are anything close to what Ali and Holmes had to deal with and likely never will be.
if Deontay Wilder reminds you of a Hearns/Dawson type fighter then the Heavyweight division is in trouble Lol in exception of Hearns of course because he accomplished more than Dawson. in the meantime Wilder is fighting stiff competition that is not really providing him much progress but just tune ups. i do say win lose or draw he will get a title shot some day if it happens and against a Klitschko brother, more like Wladimir and we will see what Wilder is really made of as a solid Heavyweight.
Yeah if he fight them now but he need 2 or 3 real good fighter and he could challenge the Klitchkos. He need to see some pressure fighters to see how he would respond.
Lol every time there is a prospect people talk shit like your hoping he'll go away.. He's not going anywhere his bombed everyone his faced. This is not just a normal guy. But dnt stop the hate
@garnerboy420 He needs to fight a veteran, maybe Juleus Long or Calin Brock, just don't rush him in, also he appears to weigh more than 205, he is filling in good and should fight at 245. Thumbs up to the great American hope.....
Really? As much as people complain about lack of competition at HW division, you'd think they'd usher him in for a shot the way they moved Canelo in with Floyd.
I'm wondering this same question now, 5 years later,(from your comment, now that he's the (6x? Defending WBC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP of the WORLD ) (40-39-0 KO-TKO).....LMAO
He’s a champion now and teddy says he’s too good lol 😂....now we know none of Deyontes punches have to land clean to hurt someone but go on teddy u were saying...oh and wasn’t Tyson fight cans earlier in his career but yet again I digress
you gotta give him credit, he hasnt been boxing for that long, he didnt have a long amateur career. yea hes like 25-0 but look at alvarez and chavez they have 40 fights. by the way im not being bias, i dont even find hw boxing entertaining, its not competitive with the k's in the picture lol
This guy hasn't been fighting long. Let him get experience. Everyone wants to see him fall by fighting veterans. What gives???? Let him fight and learn.
@Clay4legacy Yeh hes fighting no name fighters because hes only had a few fights and is hardly ranked by anyone. Why would any notable names fight him. Its an all to lose nothing to gain situation for anyone he fights.
My Name is Alvin Williams . Deontay Wilders promoters have contacted me and i am his next opponent ! I am a 73 year old old homeless midget who lives under a bridge in the city i have cerebral paulsey and i never have boxed in my life . Please cheer for me !
everyone in the heavyweight division is bums its not his fought and you dont wanna push a guy 2 hard and expose him to 2 much before hes matured and developed before hes ready
Teddy talk too much shit against Wilder! .. back in the days every Pro builds their career off of tomato cans and their first 9 or 10 fights... I guarantee if Wilder was fighting better opposition they would have got knocked out too back then as well! Now we're fast-forwarding 5 years later and look what's going on! Dudes is running from him! LMFAO
@Helsmoonfire He is fighting NO NAME people for a reason! He is not as good as we think, the same thing with Calvin Brock and he got destroyed when he moved up.
i've seen deontae spar in the gym in person. He is from tusculoosa alabama and i'm from montgomery alabama...he came to a gym and sparred 2 bombs in my city and i wasant impressed. Nice guy though but his performance wasant imprsessive
The guy throws everything --- FAST!!!! I can kind of tell what he's going to throw but he throws everything and keeps chomping once he gets off. Which leaves interesting fights for this guy in the future I'm still not going to sit here and act like this guy is 210. He's hitting to hard and he's to tall for how he ripped he looks for me to sit here and believe he's 210. If the guy ever moves into the 220 225 range I want to see him fight Chris Arreola.
interesting, i remember wlad used to fight like wilder and KO many people in round 1. Until he met someone with good chin and punched himself out. Consider this is version 1 for wilder, if he doesn't upgrade himself in the course of the career he will never be a champion as throwing so many wild punchest won't work vs top opponents. As far as his power is impressive, he is still short of wlad's punching power
Wladimir = 6′ 6″ Vitali = 6′ 7″ DEONTAY = 6′ 7″ Haha I've never heard such contradicting and hypocritical comments as you'rs in my life. Most black guys that say their sick of the HW boxing division only say that because they can't handle to see 2 talented white guys dominating so many black guys. I am white and was a massive fan of Mike Tyson, but I'm also a big fan of the Klitschko's. Just because the Klitschko's styles are not the same as Tyson's does not mean their not talented

You all just heard he is a fast learner and judging by his previous fights he has indeed improved. Don't listen to haters Deontay is the real deal.
Commentator is being very harsh. This was only Wilder's 7th pro fight, who is he supposed to fight? Tyson fought about 20 bums in a row before he fought someone decent.
kashattack right how soon they forget
Wilder hasn't learned a thing
@@AR-mi9cv
Yeh he’s still a bum 42-1 (with 41 knockouts), WBC champion with 11 title defenses? Pathetic! You could definitely do better.
Teddy Atlas didn't just like Wilder from day 1. lol
Fraud from day 1
Thanks for the uploads.
Love that right hand! Looks like Basketball player at heavyweight. So far he reminds me of if a Hearns/Dawson type fighter. I want to see Wilder start jabbing to the body more in the future.
Who else is here watching all of Wilders fights after Wilder vs Ortiz II? 🥊🥊
I’m here after he got knocked the fuck out
I am here after Wilder vs Fury II

Atlas: Wilder hasn't learned how to fight yet, he's very raw.
Also Atlas: enough experience (now at 7-0)...
you are great man
These full matches show he had good use of angles and and tech and wasn't all sloppy and wild like highlights always showed
deontay wilder number 1
@acn10 thats true but with his lack of experience you dont want to put him in with better comp until he fills a couple holes in his game, angelo dundee did simlar things with sugar ray leonard and look how good he got.
this dude is nice
Deontay is the most protected fighter.
@whiskeygoggles actually he is one of the few prospects that may amount to something. Teddy was being harsh it was his 7th fight! He is now 20-0 and is stepping up the competition and climbing the rankings.
dis kid has a great jab
@acn10 He only been fighting for like 6 years this isn't UFC where they can get into it and be good it take time in boxing.
thank you atlien my thoughts exactly
a little more movement and a little muscle would do him good I think. He is just getting ready for the bigger fights, give him some time to get experience and 12 round stamina. His chin seems to be okay, he gets rocked sometimes

that being said, funnest big man to watch since the klitchko brothers. wilder is real raw, but talented and physically a beast. should be fun to see what he develops into.

Teddy atlas u keep to real ur spoiling the entertainment aspect
wild by name, wild by,nature
but if he conects ya In trouble
Can't wait for one of the k-bros to drop this dude. Lets see him face real competition.
He got to step it up now!! His next fight should be against a top 10 or 15 contender.no more spoon feeding
a weakness of wilder would be to jab and left hook to the body and right hook to his head,
прямая противоположность валуеву. если один тюфяк без координации. то этот пацанчик при его росте быстр как молния. ЧЁРНАЯ МОЛНИЯ.
he has a lot of potential but name sum heavy weights that are gooood ?
Its funny Atlas says he is all about his right hand while the guy is throwing pistol jabs with a 7 foot wingspan. Yeah he is raw but clearly he has one major thing going for him beside his right.
Agreed, he's been put down twice by bums.
Teddy talks about the lack of competition. Yet mike tyson built his record off of complete bums with losing records.

Tbh Deontay wilder is a dangerous fighter he can beat any top 10 but maybe struggle against Joshua and Usyk. Tyson already beat him

Does it matter who? It's what you do with an opponent you face. With D. Wilder, maybe American Heavyweight Boxing is back??????
Vitali, maybe, but Wlad maybe not ...
He's like 230 now or bigger his upper body has gotten bigger.
has talent but is embaressing himself with his level of competition
jennings waxes this guy
Teddy's advice is hatearade
Teddy Atlas been a hater of Wilder
Because his amature career was so short he still needs ring time before he goes against the big boys
