The thing which is still really funny is the misunderstanding about the "I did a bad murder" line.
David didn't literally kill anyone, he did a "bad murder" at the murder party restaurant he worked at.
You might want to look up a couple of interviews Reece and Steve did about this filming of this episode and how they did it in one continuous shot in honour of Hitchcock 's Rope . The episode that lead to Inside no 9
There's actually a cut when the trunk is open and the camera zooms in on the lid. So,it's in two separate long takes. (It's on the extras on the DVD)
I will have to check that out =]
A reference to Hitchcock's Rope, of course, and I'm sure you noticed it was Mark Gatiss from the League of Gentlemen as the guest star.
Watched this episode dozens of times - a Hitchcock reference that inspired Inside No 9, arguably their greatest work to date!
Awesome =]
Dennis Nilsen, the serial killer Maureen confuses with murderer Donald Nielson ( dubbed 'The Black Panther' by the press ), mentions in his collection of autobiographical writings 'History Of A Drowning Boy' that he saw this episode in prison in a passage where he describes how he was often confused with Donald Nielson ( as Nielson was with him ) by other prison inmates & members of the public who wrote to him. He describes watching the episode in the prison tv room & being amused to hear David's correction of Maureen's common mistake.
There can't be many multiple murderers ( Nilsen killed 14 young men ) who hear themselves mentioned in a comedy show & have a laugh to themselves about it.
That is wild, I will have to ask Tay about him, she is into true crime alot so I am sure she knows who he is.
"Proper Sherlock Holmes stuff."
He's in Sherlock 😅
He wrote it too!
I forgot how good this show was! Proper Inside No 9 vibes from this one.
It's where they got the idea from 😎
Mr. Jelly, and never ever let him hear you say that ;)

Shall I say bowling?
