- Sometimes while scrolling through instagram a knife will catch your eye and the C.A.C. on the Coltelleria Collini pages was it for me. This is a reasonably priced knife even coming from Italy and was intended for use by the French military. A 50/50 blade, Axis lock and seatbelt cutter fills out the package. It comes in four colors, Tan, OD, Black and Red so they have something for just about everyone.
Hello from France! Good review. Please note that the original french army CAC is equipped with a corkscrew. They call it the "french touch"! Nice to see a review from abroad about it.
You are very welcome
@@keysersoze7656 Yeah, with the corkscrew and "Armée Française " on the blade.
@@keysersoze7656 You'll have the choice between the army type chevrons or the toxified handle. I can sent you the link to the company which makes the CAC if needed. Unfortunately they don't sell the one they've sold to the french army, you got to buy them second hand.
You are very welcome
I bought one of these from Americana pipedream in Sept of '23. It is fantastic, props to TB Outdoors
Thanks a lot from France for this review !
You are very welcome
Once you get used to it being a bit big (could not phrase any less dirty), it’s a great everyday carry. I have a straight edge no-corkscrew that I’ve grown pretty fond of.
@@Night5225 I’m a paratrooper, my military “influenced” sense of humor has a lot of innuendo 🤣
Interesting blade!
I’ve used it for a while now and it is very comfortable in the hand.
Just from watching the videos, in a military knife I would have liked to see a flipper as well and the clip does look a bit long and shiny.
I think it looks pretty good, one thing I am a little concerned is whether French made knives have a high quality standard because my general impression of French products are not that great other than their fashion and food products... My examples include my experience with the Wenger Swiss Army knives(made in the French speaking part of Switzerland), opniel knife, and a French kitchen knife I bought made by sabatier . The knives would work but the edge was often only working sharp or dull sometimes, fit and finish was way below that of USA or Japan or Germany made knives. If you could please do some close up and sharpness test even just on paper that would be great too. Thanks for sharing.
My French Opinel knife has been used hard for about 5 years.. no complaints
Tb outdoors is pretty long established
The company TB is more than 100 years older than the United States... They know their shit
Wenger knifes are still very good and were generally more innovative than Victorinox.
I own quite a few of both brands (old and new military and civilian models) and I can vouch for their quality.
I also own the TB French Army knife, which has an excellent and insanely sharp blade (it slices through stuff and fingers behind as per my own experience).
About your uninformed comments about quality and French-speaking people, have you heard about Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Omega just to name a few? All produced in French-speaking Switzerland… They are so good that USA has spent billions to build rockets and train some wearers to bring Omega Speedmaster Pro watches to the Moon, to honor their quality.
About the French-French, they have also excellent quality standards aside food and fashion, but I’ll indulge in your condescending and insulting ignorance.
I have one as well. I took it apart and see the carbide tip in the back spacer. Where can i get a new tip to put in the spacer or a new spacer that already has a new tip. Important question.
Try this link, it is for TB Outdoor which is the manufacturer of the knife, “if not mistaken.”

Thank you for this great review! FYI, it was the only one in English I could find. I was considering picking up one of these knives for my edc as le. While i love my current Spyderco, the CAC is like half the price from a surplus website and I would be quite upset if anything ever happened to my Spyderco.
Your review came out about a year ago, have you been carrying this knife? Anything that gives you concern about the performance or design?
It’s good to go. I just make it a point to have a handheld sharpener on n my kit to touch up edges after using the knives so that I always have a fresh edge on it. Glad that I was able to help.
@@haveaknifeday thanks for the quick response… and tip!
Out of the box I was able to cut through the perimeter of a sheet of paper about 30 times before the edge started giving me some drag personality. But that was quickly remedied by the worksharp.
You are very welcome
Not dropping a mini fortune on a knife definitely gives you the psychological freedom to not baby it.
What's up with them using those long shiny clips. Other than that I absolutely love the design. I have really been wanting an extrema ratio knife for a while. My favorite knife company by far is Spartan blades.
I prefer a Matt finish myself
You can remove the clip.
