Today's gift-giving culture has become ever more commercialized, fueled by ads, fads, and glitz. At SoKind, we know that your favorite gifts don't always fit in a box. SoKind allows you to create a registry focused less on stuff and more on family, fun, and friends.

It doesn't change the gift-giving excess, it only changes the gifts given. If the goal is to reduce selfishness in the culture, then it fails.
However, there is a different issue. The purpose of the gift giving, usually, is to mark a new beginning (marriage, child) for which new resources are needed. It is a way to give people a start. Redirecting gifts to a non-profit is crazy. If the people don't need help, then they can say so. A good alternative to store registries, but sell it differently.

I love CNAD and all it stands for, but this video smacks of trendy white hipster privilege (complete with obligatory token black friend, to prove how modern you are). Completely turns me off to the concept. There is little information provided in the video about how SoKind works and no compelling call to action to visit the site to learn more. Unless you're the hipster couple in the video, you're not likely to make an effort to log on or sign up. SoKind deserves a better launch.
