Ugh idk what you whiners are struggling with. According to the spreadsheet algorithm splitting up 2 radars negatively impacts their "destroyer sinky fun time" rating by 12%. Simple math.
true, so many people fail to understand the WG MM : there's the minus 2 rule, so having two tier 7 DD face two tier 8 DD is ok because of the minus two rule. 16 minus two = 14 so it's balanced. Another simple algorithm is the GFY algorithm. This allows the MM to throw a stock tier 8 in 8 tier 10 battles. Again, simple because tier 8 minus 8 battles = 0 therefore balanced in the GFY algorithm.

Re: Dividing the radars evenly between teams: Radars are not the only thing to balance on. You want to make sure both teams have the same numbers of each type of ship. You might also want to balance on the quality of the ships so that one team doesn't get all the OP-for-their-tier ones while the other gets all the crap ones. You might even want to balance on the quality of the players, rating them by win %age or experience and then dividing that up fairly. Now, I don't actually know how the WoWS matchmaker works, so this is just a guess, but I suspect it works on some sort of points system. Having more radars gives your team points. So does having more CVs, more DDs, better ships, more experienced players, etc.. Then the matchmaker tries to keep the points even between the two teams. So maybe the reason Lightoller's team were having so much more success than the enemy was because the enemy got the radar advantage and the matchmaker compensated by giving Lightoller's team all the people who weren't shit?

Especially since the IFHE nerf has reduced their direct damage potential so much already, at least letting them hit more often would be good compensation.
Consoles Atlanta is still good, and we have a variant called the Flint, which has a smokescreen, good range torpedoes, it loses the side turrets but having a smokescreen really offsets that, basically a cruiser sized destroyer....
