The repetitiveness of “You don’t want to be changed like it changed me” is actually pretty legit and clever given the subject matter. A phenomenon that happens to a lot of people when they’re on acid is that they get caught in these “thought loops” (there’s another common term I can’t think of right now, but thought loops is a common one too). Your mind gets stuck on a certain idea or emotion, and you go through this process of processing and dissecting and contemplating it, sometimes reaching some sort of epiphany about it, sometimes not, and then some thought trips you up, confuses you, and breaks your brain, and you circle back and start thinking the same thoughts again, but trying to approach them differently and make sense of them. This usually only lasts a few short minutes, but under the influence, it can feel like many, many hours, even days. It’s often related to some kind of issue within your life or your mind that is causing you stress that you want to resolve. It can be anxiety over a toxic relationship that you’re in, or it can be something as small as dropping a cookie you were really enjoying on the ground. Either way, getting stuck in these loops can be anxiety-inducing as hell, especially because acid amplifies your emotional state to extreme levels. If you’re happy, you’ll feel indescribably ecstatic, but if you’re uncomfortable or anxious, it can be nightmarish. You have to either pull yourself out of it internally and calm yourself down, or do something to change your immediate environment, like going to another room or outside, to break the sense of repetition. Kesha probably had a super traumatic experience on acid, and in the middle of it, realized (or at least felt, in the moment) that she had been permanently changed by it, and got stuck on that realization and freaked out about it. The exact phrase she repeats here probably looped in her head during her trip way more times than she was able to condense into a 3-minute song. So yeah, pretty accurate, and maybe the most clever usage of repetition I’ve ever heard in a song. I’ve only ever heard of Kesha in passing. I’m sure I know some popular songs by her, but I didn’t know she had anything close to this kind of depth in her music. Wild.
The song itself was inspired by Kesha's mother warning her to never try acid, as her mother had a bad experience with it as a teen. Hence the lyrics /You said, "Don't ever eat the acid if you don't wanna be changed like it changed me"/
Kesha had a psychedelic experience during pandemic without using the acid. She thinks she’s getting crazy, she told her therapist about it, then she was told she was experiencing a spiritual awakening. It was her mom who said to her that dont try using the acid.
Kesha was my very first concert. Get sleazy your showbox sodo February 16th 2010/11? Becasue I saw the Showa second time 6 months later. I knew she was a power house rock star from the start. I always knew she had a voice because it would come out during songs. Then her voice came roaring out during the rainbow tour.
Love that Kesha isn’t taking any shhh anymore and is dropping fire like this! Those Bombs definitely pop pop pop you in the mouth! “Let’s jump into the acid” made me laugh so hard I almost spit out my coffee! Cell to Joel on this one! 🤘
From a musical standpoint, i think the intention was to use it as percussion. It is repeated in a way that sounds robotic, which i feel is done on purpose to give the effect of a vocalized drum or beat.
Great Reactions as usual!! So happy you guys enjoyed the songs aswell!, the new Album Gag Order if you do put the letters that were flipped it spells out Rage which is gonna be the more Raw emotion of this album. And definitely can’t complain with the double single drop being the first taste we here from the new album coming May 19th! 😉😉❤️
Really digging the channel guys!! this is gonna be really off the wall but I recommend checking out one of the new Depeche Mode songs called “ghosts again”. It’s got a really cool video and is a great fucking song.. I think y’all might actually like it.

Wow, thanks for explaining that. That makes a lot of sense, and adds to the song knowing that 🙃 -Joel

@@Nina_Bleu where did you get this info?
@@rasul01 Kesha herself. If you search up her interview with the Elvis Duran show, she explains her inspiration behind the song.
Love how experimental this is, giving me FKA Twigs vibes. It’s also her last album to be released from her contract, so this is her final FU.
