    I've inherited a ptz poe hikvision ip camera and an 8 port poe switch. I wired this up to my router but the device isn't showing up on my network when i check online. I cant access the camera. I want to be able to see the camera stream in my broswer, but first i need to find the camera on the network. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong. (I have no previous experience with ip cameras, so any advice is appreciated).

      @Tech_Inside_Out  Год назад +2

      Hello,
      Streaming it through your browser will require that you do port forwarding. An easier way to see the camera in your network is to install a VMS on a PC connected to your network and search for the camera on the VMS. You can download the VMS at Hikvision website for this. When all connections are well in place, you should find your camera online

    Nice! you can also add the four cameras to the router and it will still work without having to spend extra money on the switch.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  6 месяцев назад +2

      That's correct. The switch provides room for many cameras to be used in a network like this

    • @adelphiaUK
      @adelphiaUK 16 часов назад

      But your router must have PoE or your camera's won't get any power, unless of course they came with their own power supply which then means running a lengthy power cable from your nearest socket to the camera.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out

      The Cameras are Non-POE Cameras and cannot be directly powered through an Ethernet cable even though the POE switch is capable of providing the required power. So yes it is necessary to use the POE Splitters.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out

    in this setup, i noticed since the poe switch could power up the non-poe cam, why should there be another power to the cam inclusive of the rj45 to the cam? Please explain to me.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  2 года назад

      The moment the Camera is Non POE, it can't be powered through the Ethernet jack of the cameras. That is why a POE splitter is used to separate the power that is being sent from the POE Switch whilst still sending videos over rj45. That means that the Rj45 for non POE IP cameras is responsible for only video

      The remote view software for each brand of camera can be downloaded by scanning the QR Displayed during the startup of your DVR or NVR.

      1. POE IP Cameras can be powered directly through the POE switch without the use of POE Splitters
      2. For non POE IP cameras, you can't power them up through the Ethernet port, hence the need for the POE Splitters to separate the power coming from the POE switch so that it can be fed into ghe camera through the DC adaptor on the camera.

    Without network can connect to laptop with HDMI cable....need that link ( software to keep in that laptop)

      There are many things that you can do using the VMS that using the HDMI you cannot do
      1. You can record you videos to your laptop which is not possible with HDMI Cable use.
      2. You can combine both AHD and IP cameras on a same VMS which is not possible when you use HDMI
      3. You don't need an NVR when using IP Cameras on a VMS but with HDMI Cable, you MUST use an NVR since it is the NVR that receives the HDMI Connection.
      4 You can access your cameras by WIFI over your laptop when you use the VMS but in the case of HDMI, you will be limited to the length of the HDMI Cable
      ect, ect, the advantages are countless......

      It uses thesame settup but there should be internet on the router. You will also be required to add the DVR using the Cloud ID.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out

      Doing without a POE Switch will mean that you would provide another means of power to the camera
