Because ballroom was created by BIPOC women for BIPOC women at a time when there was a lot of racism and discrimination against Queer people especially of color back in the late 60s/early 70s. The scene was originally based in Harlem. It is a scene to support and uplift minority people of color. And so the scene was originally almost all Black and Hispanic Queer people. So yeah you’re not gonna see a lot of white people.
