Abba Moses was one of the great desert fathers of Egypt. He lived a wretched life before becoming a monk, even leading a band of thieves. But in time, he repented and spent the rest of his life in an ascetic struggle to purify himself. He was guided by Abba Macarius the Great and Abba Isidore. The title of this video comes from the one thief who hung on the cross next to Christ, "Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom."
Saint Moses the Black (330-405), (also known as Abba Moses the Robber, and the Strong) was an ascetic monk and priest in Egypt in the fourth century AD and a notable Desert Father. The name Ethiopian comes from two Greek words Etho(αἴθω) which means to burn and Ops(ὄψ) which means face. This was the name ancient Greek speakers called Subsaharan Africans: Burnt Faces.

Deceive yourself no longer in the face of Love, Life and Truth, choosing instead arrogantly, death and guilt and pain. The choice, as always, belongs to you. Choose again.

I'm talking to an orthodox priest. The more I find I out about orthodoxy; the more I fall in love with it. Pray for my conversion.

Good I went to see him. I love Orthodoxy. The only problem is the distance of the church to my house. I've been praying about it but I don't really know what to do.
Ah how far is it? that is unfortunate but perhaps you can go once in a while.
Its about an hour and thirty minutes from my house.
I could drive every once in while. But it saddens me that I can never take part in the Eucharist. The priest said that I had to be a catacumen (sorry I couldn't spell the word) for at least a year. But I guess I could go worship.

Btw, I learned of the Coptic church from my now best friend youssef who I worked with. He moved to Texas recently and got married to a woman named mariam. Would you believe the wedding got pushed back because of covid and ended up being on the feast of mary!!! He's the greatest man I've ever met and mariam is a true sweetheart. I can't wait till they have kids. They're waiting till mariam finishes her doctorate!

I was so lucky to meet my great friend youssef. He told me about the desert father's and I have listened to these stories so many times over the last few years but especially last year. I always thought of myself as christian but did not act like one. Abba give me a word so that I may live!

Abba Moses and St Mary of Egypt, two among many saints of the Coptic Orthodox Church
I thought that saints were largely a Catholic phenomenon. Now I see that the Orthodox Church has them and now the Coptic Church. I'm guessing Islam as a parallel to it. I'm a trained historian and I look for patterns.

For salvation, people just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in the water and of the spirit. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is. We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD. We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritan. Our salvation has to match-up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, They continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Great man indeed! He prayed to Jesus Christ too. We don't need to ask him to pray for us. We have the( Holy Spirit) Once a Christian the Holy spirit convicts us and helps pray for forgiveness.
