I didn't plan to watch this, i just happened to land on this page but when i saw SB19 i played it because my kids are talking about them being Filipinos who are known to be great singers. Upon listening and reading the lyrics, i was moved and became emotional. Suddenly i missed my parents and at the same time thinking, as a parent myself, Am I doing enough for my kids? Would they miss me also when they grow up? This question surely will linger for a while in my head. Thanks for sharing this beautiful song.

Correction please, this was written before the pandemic. It was during the time they were doing their tour in the 10 cities/provinces here in the PH. The boys were doing their laundry when Pablo came up and asked what they want to say to their parents, since they were missing their families that time because they were busy on tour.

The one thing about our boys is their live performances are better than the studio version of the song. Also our pinuno pablo is such a great composer that gives each member their section to sing their part of the song which showcases or fits their voice. Glad to see you appreciate his genius. It speaks about their gratitude to their parents. They always sing with their heart, no filter. What you see when they perform are not idols but them as their true authentic selves. Yes, I can’t stop watching their finally released performance of Ilaw at the Round Festival in Indonesia. I was awed. Many casuals (95% if crowd) were awed by their heartfelt rendition of this particular song even if it was in a language they didn’t understand.

The best SB 19 "MAPA" Respect, Love and Take Care your parents..
This song was born out of a laundry room when the boys were quarantined together due to Covid.
They miss their families so much so Pablo asked them what would they like to tell their parents and he made a song about it. MAPA lyric video has more than 90M views. Just recently, Selecta, an ice cream brand which they endorse, collaborated with them for an MV and it showcased their childhood memories.
When they sang this at their 1st online concert, their parents went out on stage towards the end, except Ken's. Due to poverty, Ken's parents were forced to work in Malaysia, leaving him and his sister in the care of their grandparents. Both his father and grandfather are Christian pastors. At that time, Ken only met his parents twice, once when he was 5 yrs old and the other time when he was in college.
Imagine his surprise when his sister and uncle came out. Ken was so overwhelmed he fell on the floor crying. This was the other members' surprise for him. They arranged to fly his sister and uncle to Manila from the province. As Justin later said, they're happy seeing Ken smiling.
And when Ken's parents finally were able to see them personally in concert, another heartwarming instance took place. The other boys were facing the audience while singing Mapa, Ken was facing his parents singing it to them 😢😢😢. Inspite of their difficulties in life, Ken remained a loving and grateful son. All of them are.

Hi there, MAPA is a double meaning. Mapa is map in Tagalog and also mA for Mama and Pa for Papa. Actually the lyrics also got a verse describing our moms as our MA (mata) means eyes in Tagalog and our PA (paa) means feet. So our mother serves as our eyes when we were little and our fathers serves as our feet when we were just crawling and cannot walk yet. This song is a tribute to our parents or whoever serves as our guardian and those that loves us unconditionally. Mapa will forever have a special place in m6 heart (the first time i listened to this, I cried buckets). A masterpiece. Their songs are written by Pablo (99%) and he is one of my favourite lyricists that I have come to know. This is why I would always recommend to listen to their music first with subtitles and Live performances are a must. Watch Liham on Wish Bus USA as it has subtitles. They are amazing vocalists with impeccable harmonization. The closest group to compare vocally from Kpop would probably be TVXQ and none in the past decade of kpop groups. SB19 is on a different level when it comes to vocals.

Love your reaction guys. There’s a lot of back story in this song which makes it meaningful. Did you know that this song was conceptualized while the boys were doing their laundry. Pablo just casually ask them “if theres anything you would like to say to your parents, what would it be”. At that time its was also during the pandemic period and they all have not seen their family for so long. Also the melody in the intro “Lataratara” part is an old luluby that Pablo’s grandmother used to sing to them when putting them to sleep. So he included this to signify they are using the same luluby to put their parent to ease and rest. Now that’s just a work of a genius!
