Hey all, there seems to have been a problem with the subtitles during the Chinese language part of this video. Apologies! Basically Mr. Wu was talking about how he's worked at the shipyard for 20 years and how this job becomes more and more attractive to him as the years go on, and that 20 years passed without him even realizing it. I asked him if the shipyard is much different today as compared to when he first started 20 years ago, and he said it's completely different. The technology changes so rapidly, he said, that if he left for just a few years he'd be left behind and need to learn everything again.
Excellent content!! The most interesting part for me was the wind farm and the scale of it!! That traffic shaming method at the end is not a bad idea actually!! I know that would certainly get some people in certain other parts of the world to behave properly on the road!!
haha yeah I actually reckon it's a great idea - there are just no real-world consequences in many places... this would certainly make many people think twice.
Andy, what a great film and what a aerial shot! Everything looks clean, colorful, and pretty. Thank you for sharing this city and you have taken me to an interesting city which I never heard.
Another great video. I love your drone shots, especially the ones with the pagoda. It’s so nice that you’ve featured this city, Nantong. Are there other hidden gems (I.e. gorgeous cities/ villages, etc) in China that’s not on any regular itinerary? Maybe, you could do a miniseries, similar to this one, on these off the beaten track beautiful/ rustic/ charming cities or villages.
Glad you liked it! The cool thing is that now more and more Chinese are exploring cities they've never heard of since they can't go overseas because of COVID. I reckon a series is a great idea, the only problem is the views are always so low... maybe I'd need to start a dedicated channel?
I went to visit Nantong 3 years ago. It's a much slower pace city when compared to Shanghai. I was pretty happy when I encountered a shop assistant able to communicate in English with me.
Absolutely and definitely stunning, amazing, marvelous, wonderful, fabulous, magnificent, great, cooooolll, awesome, nice, gorgeous and beautiful and i absolutely and definitely looooovvvveee it very much 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Keep your good performance, keep fighting, never give up to do your best, be positive, be happy and don't forget to: 1) keep your body healthy 2) the most important thing is always pray to God to thank God for His Grace and ask for His Protection 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 I always support you ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️ Selalu semangat...加油...加油...加油 Andy ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
@@ReportsOnChina Oh how bad do I feel about myself now... I've been living in Taizhou, Jiangsu now for 6 years and not even close to fluent. Great videos by the way. Thank you.
Andy, how do you like living in China? You seem to have visited many parts and I would love your honest opinion especially compared to New Zealand. Do you think that the Chinese are living comfortable lives compared to the west or still behind? The international ranking of quality of life index still ranks China quite low.
For compulsive or persistent law breakers I think it is fitting definitely better then put them in jail or just pay a fine. But not so for first timers.
I personally really don't like the public shaming thing just for people who break traffic rules but it's really not as big of a deal as people made it out to be.
Yeah, your videos are too short. I was just getting warned up. 🙂 Would appreciate if you could add subtitles when someone is speaking Chinese. As for the public shaming, I think it's not a bad idea. Except that it could hit back if people get cheeky. Another idea is to force violators to community work.
Public shaming is a good idea but unless you hit them in the wallets nothing is going to change. I remember my friend jay walking on a Sunday afternoon near USC (no cars around) back in the 80’s. Cop gave him a $75 fine.
On Saturday night Nov-20, 2021 more than 80 people stormed and robbed a Nordstrom store in California. The robbery was over within minutes as thieves armed with crowbars and wearing ski masks stealing merchandise streamed out of the Nordstrom into the dozens of waiting cars lining the block. One employee was pepper-sprayed and two were punched and kicked, says the Walnut Creek Police Department. Americans consider themselves "exceptional". Such lawlessness will not happen in China today. (3:40) Nothing like peer pressure at the local level to get people to behave themselves and be a law abiding citizen.
I think you can blame the Democrats for that, to be honest, because they’ve egged on lawlessness and rioting since last year in the name of identity politics. Such a shame.
Public shaming... interesting... is it working as intended? I wonder if there are there fewer fatalities and/or accidents at that intersection because of it.... if so by the numbers, I would say it is working... If not, then other methods might be necessary...
Andy, thank u for loving my piece on democ. I can't find your piece on BBC saying Chinaman again , so I enter my comment here. U know, the west in general, Anglos in particular, love to use those "self-congrad-others-derog" kinds of terms:- 1st world vs 3rd world. DevelopED vs developING, ets. And then - white people vs colored people. But, "white" people are some kind of colored too. They are Color-blind people. They can't tell pink from white! To me, Chinese and east Asians are not yellow, they are tan. Black Americans are not black either. Tell you a story. You are to young to remember this one. In a Dick Cavett show, Mohammed Ali said American blacks are actually all shades of brown. There were no pure Africans in US any more. They were in various degree mixed blooded. Cavett pretended to be very naive. " You mean there were so many mixed marrieges then already?" Ali squinted his eyes, then literally barked at Cavett, RAPE!!! Many people will always call others names, including myself. It hurts. You brought up this piece BBC News, a good reminder to our We and They mentality.

In Britain it would be a badge of honour unfortunately for the scum drivers.

An interesting "small" city. The turbine wind farm looks very nice from the coast and from above.

Wonderful video but I wish it was longer as I wanted to see more of the city.
I love this kind of videos. Thank you for the great content!
China is really doing its part on developing renewable energy. Simply amazing and really commendable.
They are leading the way for sure
It looks so clean and green. That pagoda is so grand and magnificent. Thanks for the video.
Always been my favorite channel when i want to know something new about #China. Greetings from #Shandong, Andy!
Happy to hear that!
It's a small city but mighty and thriving.
Beautiful.

Your content is really informative. I am also curious why the viewing has been low.
Cheers! Maybe I haven't been regular enough or something? Not sure...
Lol Andy the Manchurian Candidate. You can really see they did a number on him at the end when his face starts flinching and spasming uncontrollably
Public shaming is a good idea to deter some uncivilized behavior
I know for a fact that Nantong's properties price has been doubled over the last few years. It is a very happening city.
A new channel name!
Yeah, I just changed it this morning because my old name, Andy's Shanghai Life, didn't reflect my content anymore.
Wow, such a lovely city... Would love to visit it one day
An interesting little city....👍👍👍
good one as always....do not cross the redlight haha
Your Chinese is pretty good. How long did it take you to get so fluent?
Thanks! I started learning maybe 8 years ago? It takes a while to be able to communicate... maybe a year or two of solid study.
@@ReportsOnChina Oh how bad do I feel about myself now... I've been living in Taizhou, Jiangsu now for 6 years and not even close to fluent. Great videos by the way. Thank you.
@@sjinzaar Just keep at it, that's the only trick!
@@ReportsOnChina haha.... indeed... Best wishes!
I learnt a lot from your video! appreciate!
Good to hear!
Very nice
苏北!
Longer videos plz!!
And I'm not so much for public shaming but they could put the info on the police website or wechat account?
As a Chinese, when I hear Nantong I think of BUS. not sure if it actually from here
As in, 大巴?I'm not sure either haha.
Probably you mean YUTONG. A bus manufacturing company.
Thanks for your video and let me know this city.
Nantong 南通?? Many foreigners especially westerners don't even know Chongqing 重慶 city (30 million people) existed.
I visited nantong really super city
how i miss nantong
It is still there.

I think Chinese people are living comfortably in China. The last time I visited China was 3 years ago and even then people seems contend.
Come to my city 常州, it's close to Shanghai too😂
For compulsive or persistent law breakers I think it is fitting definitely better then put them in jail or just pay a fine. But not so for first timers.
a city that more population than NZ....
hahaha exactly!
I personally really don't like the public shaming thing just for people who break traffic rules but it's really not as big of a deal as people made it out to be.
i just know Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen.
❤

Sorry about the subtitles! You can see the translation in my pinned comment here. Not sure what happened! 😔
@@ReportsOnChina Thank you, Andy. Hmmm... my Chinese isn't that bad. I did picked up the gist of it but could truly get exactly what he was saying.

I jaywalked in LA ‘cos I didn’t realize it was really a crime - I ended up with my hands in the air and being searched by the police. Crazy.
Being old shouldn't be an excuse to be against the law

That would be interesting to look into! I reckon they need to do it in Shanghai for everyone who bikes the wrong way up streets - so dangerous.

If you said 20 years ago that China would be the biggest shipbuilder in the world, you would be laughed at and ridiculed.
There are so many U.S. cities that Americans don't know exist. lol.
How to pay you?
If BBC gets paid big buck for lying, how much he should get for telling the truth?
