@@jacobamiright is right it is always about following Jesus in that itself is obeying him but with not TRYING to obey him, we can disobey God as we are given freedom to decide/choose if we so choose to so but for people who have close relation with God disobeying him mostly end up being punished example Jonah got swallowed by a whale, King David lost almost all his children etc etc and many others. And so main priority is Jesus and thus through him goes everything perfect or correct in terms of law or any which is written in the Bible for Christians.

To piggy back on this thought and advice, 1 Corinthian 6 is pretty clear we aren't just merely to fight this temptation... Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
So don't sit there watching something that is triggering to you and just try to be strong. Flee the temptation! Walk away if you must. Change the channel. Turn off the television or smart device. Sing, pray, read the holy scriptures. It is such a struggle and it can sneak up on your, too. Pray for an overflowing of self control and strength to overcome.

The first pet of that scripture is essential for the second part to be effective. Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he shall flee from you. If you are not submitted to God, your resistance against the devil is futile because the kingdom of God is about authority.
Im reminded of the men in Acts who went to cast out demons in the name of Paul. The demons responded to them, “Jesus we know, and Paul we know, but who are you?” And they preceded to beat the men, sending them fleeing from the house bruised and naked!

I think the city metaphor is top tier. Because sometimes the sad thing is not everyone even already in your city has your best interests at heart (im talking the body parts, not other people). Sometimes you can be your worst enemy. Thats why Jesus said, pluck it out, cut it off. We're always soo busy guarding against external temptation, sometimes its good to do introspection on yourself. Check where your vulnerabilities are and dwell on scripture. Becuase your enemy can't betray you, he can only harm you. But you, or your body can betray you. So its important to check ones perspective on the fine lines between "what brings me happiness" and what is righteous/unrighteous.

I agree, you should stay on guard but lust can be so pressuring sometimes and from the psychiatry standpoint if you have a real addiction, your brain will basically torture you until you give in. and if your brain starts torturing you and you keep resisting, eventually you will explode and go crazy with your lust so to me it seems that the best option is to reduce it slowly and steadily, change your mindset, pray more and don't beat yourself up if you fall into it but rather love yourself as God loves you, acknowledge your mistakes and keep working.

It has taken me years to give myself more grace in this area. In the past, falling to this sin I always felt like one of the worst humans on earth and would wonder why God even bothered saving me, etc. Just...really bad head space I was in. Even now it takes deliberate mental work from myself to keep in mind the truths of scripture and not just take my own feelings as reality if I fall to this sin again.

We must, as Romans 8:13 says, "For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live." Put to DEATH your sin. Kill it. Rid of it. Offer it to Christ, the one who paid the price for you! Great analogy! We MUST be on guard, Proverbs 16:8 states that "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." Pray that your spirit is not haughty and misconstrued as you think you can navigate feelings of lust on your own, Therefore, heed the words of Christ, in Matthew 19:26, "Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Great video!

Hi. I am not a Christian. But I still like Jesus cause even with all the differences as a human we can see the great things and messages from Jesus.
I always believed that I was blessed with super powers from the God. Cause everything was very easy for me and I used to help the weak.
But I let the Darkness(lust+ego) enter in my body. Which changed my destiny cause I failed to make the decisions and to avoid the evil around me.
It will be really helpful if you point the part in the Bible which will help me tackle these issues.

Hey, I’m a follower of Christ who doesn’t know a lot but I couldn’t scroll past your comment. I was thinking of Romans 7. Romans is a letter from the apostle Paul to the church in Rome. The whole letter is beautiful but in chapter 7 Paul talks specifically about the fight against sin.
We cannot do it alone. We absolutely need God. Ask Him for guidance and the power to fight temptation. It’s not always that He takes the temptation away in an instant. But I can say from my own experience that He will help you.
But the most important part is to put your faith in Jesus. No one is ever able to live a life up to God’s perfect and holy standard. Try to stop sinning doesn’t get you into heaven. But God wants to save sinners. He sacrificed Himself for us. Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins of the whole world. And He rose from the dead. He will give eternal life to everybody who puts his faith in Jesus.
In John 14:6 He says: ‘I’m the Way and the Truth and the Light. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’
In Romans 10:9 Paul writes: If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Hope it helps. God bless you!

About forgiveness, As strong man always has to pay the price of his deeds. If I earn $188,203 , I want my exact $188,203. Not more not less. If I commit a crime, I deserve the punishment. Apologies and forgiveness are too late for a sinner cause damage is already done to others. If one practical thing I will ask God is to reverse all the damage I've done in the world. Doesn't matter how small it is.

@@Ash_4949 I read honesty in your response, which I respect very much. I’m not sure if you are talking about apologies and forgiveness between two persons ore between God and a sinner.
You are right, a lot of the times you can’t reverse the damage. That can be painful. Forgiveness isn’t logical in that sense. Something is taken from a victim and with forgiveness the victim has to give again. We often can’t undo the pain we’ve cost others. We live in a broken world. People hurt each other. Sadly. Sometimes it’s too much for a person to forgive. Sometimes people can forgive the most horrible crimes. Have you heard of Corry ten Boom?
For God it’s never too late for forgiveness. Even when you can’t undo the damage. Know that God can heal and restore in an unimaginable way. You can bring that to God.
Maybe you are familiar with the story of the thief on the cross. He asked Jesus if He would only think about him in paradise. But Jesus response was: Today you will be with Me in paradise. Or David. He too has done some horrible stuff. Adultery, murder. But he too was a child of God and God forgave him. The apostle Paul who had killed a lot of Christians. God chose him to tell the gospel around the world. Pete who denied Jesus three times. Jesus chose him too.
I think your prayer is very honest. God knows your heart.
And sometimes it’s more about forgiving ourselves…
Sometimes I too think: Will God forgive me this time? I fail every time. But lately I thought: In Matthew 18:21-22 Jesus tells His disciples to forgive not seven times, but seventy times seven. And when that’s God’s standard for us as people, how much more is He ready to forgive us! David says in Psalm 86: You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to You.
And in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
God is righteous and His justice will be done, but He is also so loving. We are never able to comprehend that. If you don’t accept Christ before you die, you have to pay yourself, which is eternity in hell separate from God. If you repent of your sins and accept Jesus as your Savior, you become a child of God. Jesus took your punishment in your place and God the Father sees you through Jesus. He no longer sees your imperfections, but He sees you through the righteousness of His own Son, Jesus, instead. Psalm 103 says: He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removes our transgressions from us.
You will be with Him in heaven for eternity. Not because you lived a perfect life, but because Jesus’ sacrifice was perfect and enough. Nothing from us, everything from Him!

Lust is part of adultery which is a sin, it’s in the Ten Commandments. Lusting after a man or woman, thinking of them sexually, lust also happens when watching porn. You look at a woman you’re not married to and imagining her in a sexual way. Lusting after someone who you are not married to is sin.
