Yes... Mitsuri WAS Rengoku's tsuguko. A tsuguko is the title of someone who trains under a Hashira in order to replace them in the future. She was going to be the Flame Hashira when Rengoku died or retired, but ended up making her own breathing style because Flame Breathing didn't suit her, so she became the Love Hashira alongside him instad.
