  • This building is now the centrepiece of my small G scale switching railway.
I am going for plausibility with this tiny model train layout. (Well, tiny from a G scale railway perspective.) It has staging in the form of a barge that connects it to the rest of the world. It allows for realistic railcar movement and sorting. The LGB steeple cab electric locomotive runs from live overhead wire, which I installed.
I also run Aristo-craft, Accucraft and Mamod live steam engines on this layout and a mix of 1:24, 1:29 and 1:32 equipment on the layout that all seems to work well together. While I am generally going for “scale” I do have a Cobi bricks Sherman tank, Jeep and Mosquito fighter-bomber on the layout because I love them.
I enjoyed building this quality model depot and modifying the plan a bit. It does require you to build a floor for inside the building unless you plan to keep the doors closed. I describe my easy floor in the video.
You can have fun in G scale without a ton of space!
    Happy railroading!
    Terry

Nice Addition for your Trains Terry. I used to buy Piko Kits when I had my Outdoor Railroad. Good heavy made Kits that hold up well.

This one should hold up very well considering it won’t be outside. Lol. (Well… never say never…)

Thanks for the video and tips! The picture on the box doesn't do it justice. Time for me to order one :)

Hi Joe. Yes, pictures don’t do justice. I balked at first and for a while at the cost. But now that I have it and use it, it always I impresses me.

Well Dave, i found it pricey. But now I have it I always will have it. Consider it investment in infrastructure. Lol

Was there enough “extra” loading dock material to provide a floor?

Thanks. The instructions aren't really that clear, and connecting the sections of the platform (0235 to 0233, using the 233-50s crossmembers) was confusing. It is an important part of the railyard. The floor idea was perfect.

You’re welcome. Why a floor was not included is strange. But it was an easy fix.

Well, I just bought this kit.. should be here in 3 days. Hope it's not a hard build. Don't like the gray dock when it shows brown...

I expected the grey dock to be brown as well. If I decide when I finish the scenery that brown would be better I’ll paint it. It was not too difficult a build.
