Lovely! Mine too has seen some wrenching during my 11 years of ownership, but luckily, I've never had to dismount the engine from the frame, you've shown me that it can be done fairly easily if I ever need to, I'm sentimentally attached to mine, and she's a keeper 😊 Now, you may know that the suspension on these bikes was rubbish from stock, don't know what your budget is but sincerely think about replacing the rear mono shock with an aftermarket one .. doesn't have to be Ohlins or anything that fancy, I personally went for a blue Wilbers 640 road, it cost around 580€ but it transformed the ride! along with a pair of progressive springs for the forks and she becomes planted on the road and stable on the bends. I also got a triple tee from the 750 model which further improved handling and ride position, it's a direct bolt on upgrade, no drilling or fabrication is required. Best of luck with your project! Looking forward to more videos 😊
Thanks very much for that information. The triple tree from the 750 is something that I will definitely be doing when the budget allows. I like your ideas for the suspension too, very much appreciated and something I'll look into. Yes a brilliant and bullet proof bike that will last a lifetime no doubt. Hopefully I'll be getting this engine back in in the next week. I'm looking forward to that.
working on my Suzuki gsx katana as well but the carburetor is stuck on the in intake duct and wont come off might have to force it off will see how well it goes
If you have a heat gun or even a strong hair dryer use it to heat up the manifold rubber sleeves and that should hopefully make it easier for you. A squirt of wd40 will help too
at 6:22 there is a set of wires red and then black with red tracer what do those go-to, I know there is a similar plug that goes to the alternator that has an orange wire I believe just looking all over the internet and this is the closest I've come to see it thank you in advance
Yeah I see that. If you check my gear indicator Install video and go to 1:23 you will see it clearly. It doesn’t seem to go to anything on my bike which means it probably has a function for something that’s not on the bike and due to its location on the bike I would say it’s for the carb fan that be’s on the likes of the American models. I will be checking my wiring diagrams later and will double check for you
Sorry for a slow reply here but I got checking my wiring diagram and yes this plug is for the carburettor cooling fan which should only be fitted to California models. Hope this helps
At 9:00 You also skip removal of the rear frame cover, do you have any idea how you went about doing this as I cannot remove it from my gsx750f , seems the wheel gets in the way for me but everyone else has removed it without removing the rear wheel first
Yes you can remove it without removing the rear wheel but I would recommend removing it first. The cover / mudguard is pretty much the first thing to be put on the rear subframe or last to come off to make it easy anyway
@@DarrenMcKinney1 fair enough I'll get too it then! , was tempting to keep it a rolling frame and just tidy up rust spots but seeing how yours has come out with all the powdercoated parts and colour ranges I've decided to go all in with it. Great results by the way and shows what's capable with enough tlc
Im glad to hear that Michael. They are a really good bike and well worth doing. Yes there are a few tips I have to help you along the way. Number 1 and most important of all is take as many pictures and videos as you possibly can as to every silly little detail like which side a wire routes around something or in which order did I take something apart. Number 2 would be to have a plan as to what way you want the bike to turn out like, I changed my plan about the final look a few times and you can change it along the way too. And finally number 3 which I neglected to do is to take lots of pics and a video of how the bike is now to compare it afterwards so you and everyone else can appreciate the hard work you did. Also if theres any little thing your stuck on and if I can help feel free to leave me a message and we can maybe start a group discussion on my channel someday to help anyone restoring one of these bikes. I hope this helps you out Michael and have fun and good luck with your project!
@1:18 ( right side of screen next to the green fuze box)Hopefully you could help me with this. I picked up a 2001 gsx600f and on the fuze box next to the battery that section has 2 seperate boxes one holds fuzes but what is the other one? Im missing that one on my bike but not entirely sure what it is. Thank you
@@DarrenMcKinney1 i currently dont have the clutch cable on so i cant start it. But tuening the key the dash lights up amd horn works. So that would explain why turn signals didn't. Once i have the clutch lever arm on the handle bars ill be able to see of it runs. I was told it did before it was dropped and crashed. Needs tripple tree bearings replaced.
@@stylze5767 ok, hopefully someone didn’t rob some parts off it. If you did want to try and start it now without the clutch lever you can pull the 2 wires off the clutch lever switch and join them together or even screw the switch off and move it to the closed position. Some people do away with this switch as it can be annoying if you are working around the bike and want to start it without reaching for the clutch lever. Just a thought if you wanted to get it going now just remember to check it’s in neutral lol
@@DarrenMcKinney1 i didnt know this. Thank you. I originally bought this bike to use the engine in a offroad buggy but when i arrived it also came with a title so it was a steal for 300 bucks everything there amd i would feel bad for tearing apart a perfectly good bike. So now im going to rebuild the triple tree and hopefully sell it

Good work, do you know if the orange trace wire you mentioned for the coils is the same set up for the gsx750 f ?
Thanks Stephen. I’ll check the wiring diagrams this evening when I get back from work and let you know
Apologies for the slow reply but yes I can confirm the wire colours are the same for both 600 and the 750. I hope this helps
