- isThis video shows you how to make natural shampoo at home without any harmful ingredients for your hair and skin. The shampoo that we usually buy from the market has a lot of harmful ingredients in it…no wonder it lathers so much. Here we will be making this shampoo as it was being made in Indian households for centuries from herbal ingredients. This is a requested video and though it is not a food video, it is definitely coming from my kitchen. So let's head into the kitchen and make this Ayurvedic Herbal Shampoo which will cleanse your hair and body the natural way as our grannies used to do in the good old days.
Ingredients in the order of instructions:
50 gms Shikakai/Acacia Concina
50 gms Reetha/Soap nuts
50 gms dry Amla/Gooseberry
1 tbsp Fenugreek/Methi seeds
1 tbsp Kalonji/Nigella seeds
1 litre Water
1/2 cup Curry leaves
1/2 litre Water

What if my hair feels dry and straw like after using this shampoo? I’ve tried it for 4 washes (every 7 days) but my ends feel very dry and straw like (I have long color treated hair that is coming off ‘regular shampoo’
I finally tried this for two weeks but it didn’t foam up as much as yours and left my hair heavy and greasy, I tried altering the amounts of things, I really wanted this to work
Increase the quantity of soap nuts.
I followed this with exact details, several times, and I never get that kind of lather. However, lather or not, it's amazing shampoo, with no need for conditioner!
Hope that next time you make it you will also get enough and more lather.

Super sister. Can we add avaram poo, chembaruthi flower and leaves, neem leaves, vettiver, thulasi(basil) leaves, . To boil vettiver also or not sis.
I have never used vettiver and so cannot give an opinion on this...rest everything that you have mentioned can be used

M using this type shampoo since lockdown started..but one thing it won't clear ur oil from hair..m using my regular shampoo in a little quantity in this shampoo to clear my hair oil..

George Ray . If it’s gets in your eyes , use cooled boiled water in a small glass ( like a medicine cup ) and irrigate the eye many times until the burning stops. It works every time. Shikakai is a know irritant , if it gets into your eyes.
@@oiputthatback7361 what's cooled boiled water? And preparing the same if it exists is practically impossible while you have irritation in the eye. I just close my eyes while I apply. But thanks though.
I heard shikakai and amla can darken the hair over time, but i have strawberry blonde/ginger hair and don't want to darken it, can I leave them out or replace them?
Shikakai is a cleanser...it doesn't darken the hair...amla does darken your hair if you leave it in a hair pack for a long time...on the other hand if you rinse it off immediately there shouldn't be a problem...amla is rich in iron and other vital nutrients for the hair.
How long will the solution stay without spoiling.....as it might get some bad smell...
Srilakshmi, if you are not a frequent user and the quantity prepared won't finish fast, then it would be advisable to refrigerate it so that it doesn't get spoilt.

No it won't be suitable for dreadlocks,it's makes very less foam
I can’t see why you wouldn’t be able too. You may need to do a ACV and Baking Soda detox if your dreads are old.

It will spoil as there are no preservatives...it has to be kept in the fridge.

Shweta, I would suggest that you go in for the powder form of all the ingredients and follow the same procedure...the only problem that I see is storage...if you have the facility of storing in a fridge then you can make and use for a longer period of time without spoilage... alternatively you can make smaller quantities and use it within a week if there is no fridge facility.
If your problem ii's with hair fall, dandruff, split ends, frizzy hair....then I suggest you go in for the flaxseed gel on my channel..use it 2 times a week...oil your hair and apply this gel from the scalp to the tips... leave it for 1/2 an hour and then shampoo...this gel doesn't need refrigeration...the link is given below...do give your feedback: ruclips.net/video/5Kxj95GuUYo/видео.html
