I really enjoyed watching your process. I love abstract/nonrepresentational art making. Question -Does using a glue stick affect on the collage the archival quality if you plan to sell or place in a gallery? Thanks for offering these sessions on youtube.
Good question! I’m about to order some Uhu glue sticks because the purple Elmer’s ones just annoy me.
I think Elmer’s sticks are acid free but not sure. I seal all my art anyway, with the UV coating, so that should aid in archivability.
But yeah, don’t use those purple kids glue sticks. (A friend bought me like a dozen, so they were on hand).
Try spray painting marked matts to use another day with something else.
Interesting. I’ve been using the dirty Matt’s as viewfinders but that’s a good idea
I ve been patiently and enthusiastically waiting for part 2!! Thank you form Costa Rica,. Whats the size of the small opening ? You inspired me to make viewfinders but still unsure about that small opening size. 😊
Depends on the matte opening size. I use the viewfinder to “find” the composition so it can be whatever you want. Those particular matte openings are 3.75” square. So if you’re using those exact mattes, make your viewfinder THAT size so you know what the final composition looks like.
I just cut the paper a bit bigger so it doesn’t slip through. Play with it a bit and it will make sense!
Where do you sign them? Very nice
I sign them on the back of the art - which goes inside the frame.
