Joyful Rambler, Very inspiring post, thank you. I am hoping to start my AT thru-hike on February 22nd of 2018, I have purchased my equipment, watched thru-hiker vlogs for the past several years, researched every aspect of the trail and know what i am up against but I've put off training and getting in shape (I think it's because the reality of starting a 2190 mile hike and failing scares the crap out of me!) but after watching this video and listening to your encouraging words I've started walking and i'm more motivated than ever!. so thank you! good luck with recovery and many wishes for a successful thru-hike next year.

I'm so happy I could help motivate you to start training! Thanks for the good wishes, maybe we'll cross paths on the trail :) Happy hiking!

Walking Sticks Have you started? I’m in the same position! I’ve planned everything and almost have all my gear but I haven’t done more training then a bit of walking. I work 12 hours or more a day, I have so little time to workout, but I’m in terrible shape and I’m so scared of failing. I also live in South Florida where there is no where to hike.

I really appreciate your insights. Sometimes we need to hear what we know to be true...and that is not to let our fear of pushing ourselves too hard keep us from pushing ourselves hard enough. Just found your channel; catching up on what I’ve missed. Best of luck in your healing and planning.

This was both terrifying and uplifting to me 😂 thank you for making this. Just found your channel by suggestion from RUclips. It was the Abol Bridge episode and i went back to the beginning to follow your hike even though I know it's over now. Congratulations!!! 💖

This video is inspiring. I'm 63yo female and am about 3 months outside chemo for my 2nd recurrence (I am currently cancer free) and 1 month outside of a 1 week hospital stay for a very serious illness & getting back on my feet. I am wanting to get strong enought for day hikes at this point. I live very close to a trail head for the AT and hope to one day at least hike a section of it. Carpe diem! 🏕️
