I dont know. Do I even want to donate to Goodwill when I realize the prices they are asking and because of that people might not buy and it all-ends up in a landfill? It would be better to advertise a free garage sale and let people use it and yes, let resellers sell it and let them build their small businesses
I agree!
There are also good local thrifts that do good work maybe see if you have one nearby to donate to
Yes, you’re so right. There are a few. Just cant be lazy to find them.❤
Our local Saint Vincent DePauls in our Pittsburgh area are a lot more reasonable in their pricing and the proceeds go to a worthy cause. Don’t know if they’re in your area though.
A thrift store near me is run by volunteers and their profits go to the breast cancer wing of a local hospital.
Goodwill used to be a special place to find items especially for low income families. I stopped shopping there after they started jacking up the prices. I also stopped donating to them and started donating to our church programs.
Yes some of our charity shops in the UK are over priced, when you buy something they also want to keep hold of your change as well, I told them to stop being rude, if it's not enough that I went in there in the first place to support the charity then just give me my cash back .......I also stopped donating to charity's after going in with hundreds of pounds worth of stuff and didn't even get as much as a thank you, I give to friends or do a car boot sale and pocket the cash myself seeing as I paid for it in the first place, yes you're church sounds like a better option .👍🙏🤗
Agree.
Yes, prices have gone up at my local Goodwill as well. You’re right, it’s pricy for used items that were donated to GW! I started to donate unwanted items to my church now.
The coffee mugs is what really gets me and they are over flowing with them! I prefer Salvation Army, their prices are more fair.
Same here..
@@oldmaplehomeno disrespect meant, but salvation army by where I live is pricing items as of new?!? I feel it's bc a lot of folks are announcing this hidden treasures at both these places.. They caught on, now they're pricing accordingly.
I donate everything to churches or other charities that give items for free or for very little.
I agree with you, Goodwill’s prices have doubled. You might as well get the item new.
I don't donate to GW anymore. Only go on senior discount day and I don't round up anymore either. Prices are crazy.
If you round up, Goodwill gets the tax break! I rarely go there anymore!!
The Avon ware - is Pottery from England, and was made around 1940 most of it was made at the Jubilee Works, Stoke-on- Trent, England; some of it was ironstone, some of it was porcelain. You probably already know this information, but some Americans always think of Avon and associate it with the mass produced perfume bottles and cosmetic company in the USA.
You SCORED!! On that little Wooden Shelf 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I haven’t been to Goodwill in a very long time. The prices are too high. But, that being said; I loved how your shelf turned out and the shells were a great idea. Thank you Elizabeth for sharing.😊
I love your green shelf. I especially love your handpicked scriptures at the end of your videos.
I donate items to a local store that directly benefits their clients and sells at low prices
Grew up at the beach. My brother and I would collect shells and coral and glue them on tissue boxes and sell them. LOL! I love your green shelf and peg board. I definitely would have snatched that Currier & Ives coffee tin. Have a whole collection of Currier & Ives blue dishes and have now started collecting the tin display items with the homestead theme.
Love the green in the kitchen, a nice pop of color!
Thank you!!
Great finds and good job on redoing them - love them! Even though the Goodwill has gone up in prices you can find some good items - I bought a beautiful jacket for Easter and I have worn it to a banquet too I get more compliments on it - it was like new. Blessings to you!
We have two local thrift stores in our small town that I donate to. Not going to Goodwill anymore and I only stopped in occasionally!!
Love love your little shell box love it ..and you choose a good decision on painting the little shelf looks so pretty…✨🤍✨🤍✨🤍🤍✨🤍✨🙏🙏have a beautiful beautiful blessing day 🙏🙏✨✨✨✨✨🙋🏻♀️
Your thrift store looks so clean and organized..
You definitely did the right thing paint the shelf a beautiful shade of green! I love the shell box as I love in S Fl and have one almost like it ❤❤❤
I love the green little shelf! That color is becoming my most favorite decor color!! ❤️
Your shell box is just perfect. It's such a nice keepsake. The shelf is adorable painted green.
Prices have gone up at my Goodwill also. I absolutely love your videos ❤ look forward to them
Your Goodwill is so expensive! The one by my house increased their prices but still a bargain. Hope that does not change. I used to thrift my items for resale in my antique/vintage booth. The prices were so much cheaper than even now. Love your videos!
Love the scripture you added at the end of your video! In all things giving Him glory and I am here for it! 👏🏻❤
That little shelf turned out to be my favorite thrifted item in this video. Love the green color with your blue and white items.
Thank you Robin! 💚
I purchased a framed piece of art, nice larger piece at Savers thrift for 14.99. There was a Goodwill sticker on the back for 34.99....mmmmm. Makes you so wonder....loved watching your video.
Elizabeth love the green shelf, whatever you pick out always turns out very good!!😊❤
I’m not donating to GW any more I’m giving to the shelter for abused women ,prices are to much
My mom has that exact blue canister! It was part of a set. I’d say it’s from the late 80s to early 90s if I remember correctly.
U r correct that is 2 much 4 a used mug. Goodwill prices r crazy in Nashville 2. Other thrift stores have raised prices 2 but not as much.
I think so too.
They are outrageous here in NC as well. Some things shocked me greatly. I guess it's everywhere and that's really sad. Even books started at 2.49 and some were from the dollar tree. Goodwill also has taken away all the discounts, such as Military and even seniors. Kind of sad.
Maybe one day things will get better.
Love the little shelf! That green is my favorite.😊
I am SO happy to see another Video! I have been binge watching your channel since I found it a little over 2 weeks ago. Today we found 2 Large Mantle Shelves at Good Will that are similar to the one you thrifted a while back and needless to say I was Thrilled. Thank you SO MUCH for the inspiration and letting us tag along. Even my 5 year olds daughter loves going to hunt for 'treasures' and it's. Something we have been doing as a family, thanks to your inspiration! Be Blessed In Jesus Name and thank you again.
Hi Stephanie! You’re so sweet, thank you for tuning in!! I have a daughter about that age also and I’m hoping she will always love thrifting with me 🥰
Love the green!
Love that shade of green paint! 😊
I love the shelf green which is one of my favorite colors, it looks great in your kitchen.
Hi. The green shelves blend so well. Blessings ❤
I love the green bits, of course, it's my favorite colour, so that helps. 😆
First time i scrolled on to your video. The box was so cute. I have a round small box gifted to me as a child ( im 50 now ) so it has some age to it. No shells have ever fallen off.
The green 💚. Looks great.
Love the white shell box, reminds me of one I had when I was little. The shelves painted green were so pretty. Thank you for a lovely relaxing video. Look forward to seeing more videos from you soon. Take care. Charlotte xx🇬🇧
Love the shelf.❤❤❤ Be safe and GOD BLESS 🙏🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜
Thank you Jean! 💚
Enjoyed the shelf looked good green.
Love the green shelf so cute
Thank you! 💚
It looked good all you did.
Goodwill prices in Australia have been crazy for a very long time.
Man, I was looking forward to your haul
Shelf is lovely that green. I actually did a cubby that I had that my brother built me 30 years ago and we had it like a country blue for 20 years and I just painted it green in a white room with some black trim and it pops I totally love the green.., it’s like a sage green type. It’s very lovely.
Yes here in Virginia the prices are high at good will
I only shop there now if I have a coupon.
Good morning Elizabeth 😊 I love the color of your shelf color made such a difference very fresh w/the transfer ware ❤ I love the Bible verse so fitting ❤❤❤ have a Blessed rest of your wk 😊
Love the green color.
Me too 💚
I have been hoping to find one
Beautiful 💃
Love watching Elizabeth. Goodwill is getting so overpriced.
LOOKS NICE😊
Thank you Yvonne!
Ms. Elizabeth I’m so jealous of shelf.I’m being looking forever for one for my portmerion botanical garden spice jars. Also you give me a great idea with your sea shells box I like to put some touches of coastal items in my summer decor.
Yes ! Goodwill has gone up in price ! I am much more selective about what I buy now …..
Love the green painted shelf decor 👍
Loved ur little green shelf....good idea. I'm glad u got the wooden tray...I have a similar 1 I keep on coffee table in bonus room. I keep a cloth place on the bottom of my trays.
I love little wooden trays, so many uses for them 🥰
I hardly go to Goodwill anymore and don’t donate there either. I donate to a Humane Society thrift store, a Kiwanis thrift store and a church thrift store and those are mostly the ones I shop at. Also a teen challenge thrift store that helps kids. Absolutely love how you up cycled your finds. The shell box is so pretty! Absolutely love the shelf and rack that you painted green! So pretty! Now I am looking for those two items too! Love the scripture at the end of every video! ♥️
The blue jar is 80s-90s. I have a set of them.
Fabulous Walkthroughs Elizabeth but Wow 😲 the prices at Goodwill
You did amazing on your flips 😍
Enjoy the Rest of your Week ❤️ Take Care Hugs Always from California 🌞
We have been looking for some other place to donate to. Love your fines the shelve is pretty in the green.
very nice video 🇸🇦 thanks for sharing stay blessed and 🇸🇦 best wishes from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
The little green shelf turned out so pretty. I hope youre safe from the wicked weather. I think I remember you saying you live in Michigan, and there are bad storms cutting thru there.
Everyone across the states Is complaining about Good Wills prices being so high! The Good Will in my area really don't carry much but clothes and a little junk, nothing of any interest, so i don't even go there. I haven't been in almost 2yrs. They've probably gone up in pricing too 🤷♀️ I totally agree, You can get a brand new mug cheaper or around the same price lol 🤦♀️ There was A blue & white piece you kind of tilted over & looked at just before you picked up the starfish, a man & a horse and carriage.. my dad gave me that same piece when i got my first place on my own. Lord I wish I still had it🥹, its a vintage piece now. I love picking up little wooden shelves, i have them all around the house and quite a few in my decor storage.. some need a makeover, and i really don't have room to hang anymore.. but hope to be moving to a bigger home soon🙏 That one is really nicely made. I wish we had a Salvation Army here, i like going to the ones in Florida when I'm down there! I love & collect antiques, primitive pieces, vintage & Victorian pieces.. love old things! That cradle was precious😊 The corbles were pretty, just needed a paint job.. good price too. They had lots of pretty art. Loved the brass carafe!! I have a copper one just like that one! I have 2 silver ones that are just the pots with no base. The box turned out so cute! And I love the shelf, that green is the perfect color! Thanks for sharing, I truly enjoyed😊
I enjoy your videos 😊 because I live in Puerto Rico and we don’t have Goodwill or any Thrift stores for that matter
I think their trigger finger got stuck at $3.99-lol. Also, I guess they make an extra penny on every single item they sell because most likely people tell them to keep the penny…🤔
I loved your video and the very relaxing music.
I don't think they price our coffee mugs quite that high, but I could be wrong. We also get a 20% coupon for a $20 and over purchase in email every month, I have heard not all states do that. There are some things they price really, really high, though. I found two beautiful Anthropologie glasses in there a few weeks ago, they wanted $17 each! I realize they are nicer brand, but that's ridiculous, imo.
I still donate to goodwill because it's fun shopping there. Like you, I often find a treasure...
Beautiful verse amen 🙏
I love that verse 🥰
One favorite verse I have in my bedroom is
I can do all things though christ who strengthen me amen 🙏
The Goodwills in Florence SC has gone crazy with their pricing. You can buy brand new cheaper in some instances. Personally I don't understand when they don't buy their merchandise. It is given to them free,
I love the green shelf on the countertop.❤️ What difference in your shell box after you painted it white.❤️
I haven’t gone thrift shopping in a couple months. It’s getting outrageous. I would just rather go to Home Goods. If I need an antique I would rather just go to an antique shop.
That is a religious advent wreath that holds the seasonal 4 candles.
I would say that cobalt blue mason jar is definitely vintage… I don’t have a time frame… some date back to the 1850s… I would say this one is early to mid 1900s
I have the entire set of the copper canister you picked up. Bought the whole set off fb marketplace for $15. I absolutely love the set…
Edit- the prices seem to be going up for the vintage stuff they know people want right now… my fave thrift store is usually pretty well priced (except for furniture)… but when someone is pricing that KNOWS it’s vintage- they’ll mark the item up to $8…
Love the remake of the shelf, gorgeous color!
As far as Goodwill, if I donate, it’s because I no longer want or need the item. I can’t worry what happens to it later.
Hi Elizabeth.. Nice video and great finds as always 🙂 How do you voice over your videos if I may ask please. Love from London ❤
Oh my! The shelf 😍 what color did you use? Sorry if you told us I didn’t hear it. Thank you so much for sharing the word of God♥️
Prices are definitely going up, especially on anything vintage, its like they are trying to get ebay prices! But sorry for you, yours is higher even than my area. Just a couple years ago I bought mugs for .59 now they are .99!
With rent, energy cost, wages going up you should expect their prices going up too. I to wish the prices could be lower .
Just wondering what shade of green that you used on the little set of drawers on top of your stove? I love both shades, but the darker one is just what I am looking for. Thanks!
Prices at Goodwill in Illinois are very high. I now buy on senior day or only items that are half off. I love to look, but many trips I end up buying nothing. Beautiful old dishes are hard to find, and I suspect they are sent to a warehouse to be sold on their auction site. Greed has taken over.
I love thrifting. The prices. Are. Okay. With what I get. And. I'm. Picky.
I live in Texas, and the prices are pretty low at my local Goodwill. The old hardcover books are what have gone up. I come home with many treasures.
Love your videos. Love thrifting anywhere but goodwill. Goodwill is a business not a charity, they take advantage of emotionally impaired employees sometimes calling it community support without paying them. Their CEO netted 1 million salary last year
It’s too bad, but everything seems pricey. Sign of the times. I do love the shade of green you used on the peg shelf and the dish shelf. It all looked so fresh and clean!! Speaking of sign of the times, Revelation is a very good book of the Bible to read!! God bless.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was at goodwill yesterday and saw a half roll of one quarter inch ribbon and Goodwill wanted $6.00 for it, the original price on the roll showed 1.99. Even more unbelievable was I went to JoAnn today, which is usually pretty high priced, and a brand new roll was only 3.99. How can Goodwill have higher prices than JoAnn and for half the product and asking $5 more than the original price?
Good to know that the thrift prices have gone up everywhere and not just in my location. It’s good to know that many are buying second hand and not just tossing items. But I’m curious if/when this bubble will burst. Is it just a trend in fashion for some, or is this the new way to shop going forward. ?? I only shop second hand for myself and not to resell. I like the uniqueness and character that it brings to my home. I’m not cookie cutter, finding similar/same items in other’s homes.
Our Goodwill’s coffee mugs are usually $1.99, i live in eastern PA
I agree the price are the same or more than department stores prices. And the worker pick through the good then leave the broken stuff. I’m Like who going to buy that the poor and needy! Give it to a church or yard sale! They’re ripping the poor off with item they got for free!
I hope im still around to see what happens to gw when they dont get free stuff😊
Just me but I would have painted the shelf and wall hook pieces to match the olive green piece above your stove.
12:32 at least the furniture is displayed in a way that you can see it & check it out thoroughly.
My Goodwill has become outrageous on their prices. It’s all donated items. Someone I know called our corporate office and they were told that they are now out to make as much profit as they can. They also sell almost nothing as a set, even salt and pepper shakers! They are charging about $4.99 EACH. I will now donate to other thrift stores and not Goodwill.
All of the thrift stores in So. California have gone up. Love the green on the thrifted shelf.
It seems to be universal 😟
Same at Value Village in Canada 🤨
I love thrifting but hardly buy from GW anymore. Their prices are over the top. $$$$
GE prices are high. I see they are at your store just as they are at mine. I don't have a Salvation Army Thrift Store near me, though $2.99 for that schoolhouse lamp shade was very reasonable..
Yes too high for some coffee cups. However I have paid 5.99 for the Starbucks mugs
Goodwill prices are crazy! ALL of the stuff they sell is donated - FREE! I get upset every time I go in their stores! Then they ask if you want to round up to the next dollar amount for training of their employees!! I no longer donate to them, but to the smaller thrift stores. Cindi (from WV)😮😮
Yes, I always say, whatever the 1st item you pick up will be that price for 99% of the store. 😅
I'm in northern Michigan and the two Goodwill's I visit have gotten ridiculous. It seems nothing is less than $3.99, no matter what it is!
Goodwill in my town has really raised their prices, too. I also get so frustrated with how it's always a mess. I wonder what quality of training & guidance they provide their "staff with challenges". I get the color isle concept. But I shouldn't find a single shoe, toys, electronics stashed in dishware. Work ethic is crucial in all business by all staff, and if this is a first job for someone, why not teach them work ethics?
That flower pot at 1:20 retailed for 6,99 $? In Germany you would have paid 40 $ ..at least ..
