As a Filipino-Canadian Muslim convert (I was raised Christian and grew up in the Philippines), this is one of the reasons why I'm scared to go back to my home country even just for vacation. I can speak fluent Tagalog and I grew up in the majority Catholic side (Cavite, close to metro Manila). I'm scared to be told to go back to Mindanao 😂 or for people to assume things about me because of people's ignorance. I know most Filipinos are accepting of other cultures and religions, but it really doesn't help that even in Canada, I experienced being "not welcome" in a friend group of Filipinos at work just because I'm muslim. And I also had a conversation with a filipino guy who worked in Saudi, he said I'm not a real Muslim coz I don't speak Arabic. LMAO

First, I'd like to say that I have nothing but respect for Sikhi. I'm a Filipino, Roman Catholic ( not by choice), but practicing Sikhi. I have 2 questions. "Why most Filipinos are not aware of Sikhi?" "Is it the fault of the Filipinos or is the fault of Sikhs living in the Philippines?" Here are some points I want you guys to ponder on. 1. The Philippines is a country dominated by about 80 percent Christians. 2. Sikhi (a minority in India concentrated in Panjab) is different from Hindu ( majority in India). 3. Sikh's in the Philippines introduced themselves as Indians (doing 5-6). It's been about 100 years since Sikhi came in PH. What has change? 4. Sikh diasporas abroad ( Canada, US, UK, AUS, and more) worked very hard to reach their current level. The new generation is well educated and well-aware and is working their best for the Sikh community. They are loyal to the country where they live. They have served their home country to the utmost power they can. They serve the army, working as doctors, attorneys, members of the Parliament, scientists, and many more. 5. I believe Sikhs in the Philippines are not even acknowledged by the World Sikh Organization. Why? One basic thing. The Guru says, "Make an honest living". Do you think Guru would like 5-6? 6. Above all, the Guru teaches us to have more tolerance and serve humanity.
