You can get rid of it if you open Facebook from a browser on a laptop or a PC. Click on messages, and it will show you the pending stupid notification. Click on it, and it will synchronize automatically on the app as seen and resolved.

Seems like everyone does the marketplace to try and get rid of the notification, I found that if that doesn’t work go to messenger and delete all your read conversations and that works. I know that I leave a lot of my conversation with my kids on messenger after I read them. I started deleting them and the red notification icon goes away.

It doesn’t do any good to try it on a desktop. I don’t have the notification showing up on my desktop version of Facebook. It also does not show up on my iPhone only on my iPad.

I watched the video. The trick You did typically helps. However once I looked into the message requests I saw absolutely nothing. The marketplace is not available for Me (It said it could be due to my country/region or my age criteria doesn’t meet). Is there anything else You can instruct Me in order for Me to get rid of annoying number badges in my Facebook app on the messenger icon?
1-Try on a desktop computer.
2-Check your message requests.
3-Turn off badge app icons in your notification settings.

Sorry didn't work. Tried all couldn't find any unread messages. If I go to desktop and change a read message to unread the number goes to 2. I then mark it as read on my desktop and the 2 goes away until I open messenger again and the 1 comes back. Any suggestions?
Check in your Marketplace inbox.
Otherwise, check your “message requests”.

I had to " delete" the app on my phone and reinstall it. No more "1" on messenger on facebook on my phone. It didn't show up on anything else.

How do you get to market place using a cell iPhone and what is market place?
There should be a little marketplace icon on your shortcut bar. Otherwise, you can get there through the menu button.
Marketplace is a place to buy and sell. Like Craigslist.
The two annoying messages are only on my iphone and not on my PC! Does that make ant sense?
Yes, they are probably in the app on your phone. Check “other” “spam” “requests” and “group messages”

You’ve checked the message requests, spam, and other areas within the Facebook app itself? Also, check those areas in the messenger app.

If this happens, especially on your iPhone? I tried everything as well and nothing was working. Last solution uninstall Facebook and reinstall it that worked and do the same with Messenger if you still see an icon. Because ultimately, I deleted messenger, and when that didn’t work, I ultimately reinstalled Facebook and the icon finally went away….
You could turn off the badge app notifications on your phone.

had the same problem, i tried all this steps but didn’t work, finally tried to login in my son’s Ipad and click on thr messenger icon then shows unread messages which didn’t show on my mobile app, message says something “message and calls secured ……”

How the hell do you find market place incomm8ng messages?
It changes all the time. The easiest is to do it on a computer. Otherwise, go through the messenger app or through the marketplace tab of the Facebook app.
