  • This video is about green screens. How to light it, what camera settings to use, getting you to think a little more closely about planning your lighting to match whats going to be behind you, and how to set that all up in Final Cut Pro.
Im shooting with a Sony a7siii, but all of these steps will be the same with any digital camera - even a cheap one!

Great video thank you so much. But can you specify how raising the shutter speed effects believable motion blur? In other words 24 fps usually has 1/50 shutter speed on a 7S3 like you use. But if we crank this to 125 how is that changing the motion blur? It’s not the same thing as 125 fps- - correct?

Shutter speed and fps are completely different and independent things. There are a lot of "rules" you may be lead to think you need to follow like the 180 shutter, making your shutter speed double that of your frame rate. But you don't have to do that by any means. And so if you have a faster shutter speed, meaning your physical shutter is open for less time during each frame of video, then there will be that much less motion blur on each frame. If you've got enough light to make your shutter speed 1/500 there will be literally zero motion blur and you'll have the best and cleanest key out humanly possible. But it will look 'jittery' to your eye as a result of the lack of motion blur, because you expect to see some.

Quick question: Why are you in a warehouse? I have watched several of your videos and been curious.

Short Story: I work for a company called Space Design and Production. We do the lighting for these huge art fairs, mostly in New York, LA and Miami. The company is based in New York, but it was way cheaper to have the warehouse for all of our truss and lighting down here in Orlando Florida, where I live. So I have this unbelievable circumstance where I am the only person who goes to this place!! We pretty much do one show a month that I fly to, and then I have three weeks to myself in this giant space; it's a perfect job to have a side hustle, like youtube.

    Heres another tip
Use Velcro instead of Tape or tacs
Esp if you have an area you are able to use and want to take this down or put it up when you need it again
    Also, get a steamer lol

What a good idea.. I figured Id pepper in some searchable how-to's to complete the catalog. I'll get to work on some more original stuff!
