I was in high school 67 - 70 ..I worked at a gas station/service station, I had my third car by the time I got my drivers license at 16. In those days, the best part of any car was the radio, we had the Beatles, the kinks, the stones, Jimi Hendrix, the doors. Iron butterfly, cream, the Yardbirds, Jefferson, airplane, Santana, traffic, Alvin, Lee, vanilla fudge, Big brother in the holding company, Bachman-turner overdrive, Robin Trower, spirit, The moody blues, The rascals, The Who, the guess who, Marshall Tucker, the Allman Brothers, Steppenwolf, Joe Cocker, pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Grand, funk, Creedence, Clearwater, yes,, And best of all, Led Zeppelin..
I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard Jimi Hendrix play foxy Lady on the radio in my 1959 Pontiac Catalina convertible.. it gave me chills, I never heard a guitar chord like that. It sounded Distorted and out of tune, but it was loud, especially after I pulled over and turned the radio all the way up..
I feel a little sorry for kids today. They missed it
Any video of Hendrix is deeply appreciated by
devoted fans.
Except for this film we've already seen turned into chopped garbage.
@@mrswimmyboy haven seen it..nice forr a lonely saturday night in Copenhagen
@@Curt6900what's Copenhagen like if you don't mind me asking? Do you like living there? I live in the States, a rather poor and depressed one, however I like living here as its all I know. And tho it's economic situation is pretty bleak its very beautiful here especially now in the early summer. Im connected to it for better or worse.
When I was a kid my family moved to Bedfordshire UK mid 1960’s and me nanny used to take me along to see some live shows-so one week Englbert Humperdink was passing through town so I went along as he had a hit at the time-to my surprise the opening act was Hendrix. I’ve been retelling that story for 60 years-no I’ve finally been validated, thanks Amplified!!
Hey Joe shows footage from 1966 to a sound recording from 1968/1969. What you hear is at least two years apart from what you see. In the case of Jimi Hendrix, this makes a huge difference.
I grew up in Washington state near Renton where Jimi is laid to rest, went to school across the street...I cut Al's grass many times as a kid...never met Jimi but Al would talk about him with us when we got done...RIP Jimi🙏❤️
I'm always positively perplexed by the visual and musical richness of the '60s. It's unique and awesome!
The visuals do not match the audio. This is a film room chop job, not rare footage as the click bait heading pretends.
So disappointing.
first clip was live at stockholm sweden then proceeded to play hey joe from his first set at the winterland festival
@@pumplittle654 Yes it shows how many have abused Jimi's spirit.
Yep wtf
Dislike
This is fake. Video from a Sweden show from 1969
He skipped the autopsy report. JH blood alcohol was nearly nil while his lungs were full of wine. That doesn't get told by tabloids or mainstream still today. That does not happen accidentally. SRV somberly said about Jimi's death that "he had a little help, I'll leave it there".
Yes. He was held down in the tub with a dude on each arm and a dude forcing the wine bottle down his throat. Jimi's manager owed a huge amount of gambling debt to a Britain mob faction so they took Hendrix life to punish him. The managers plane exploded in mid air later on.. Hendrix was murdered.
Jimi at Stockholm is what this audio is in this video
Yep!
Whatever....mr..hendrix gave me sum new heavy stuff to enjoy....all i needed was sum headphones, thanks to my dad's superb sound system...thanks jimi...peace brother
Great live band .👍
I've been listening to Jimi since 72 and reading and other "documentaries ".this is the best documentary I've ever seen on him. I learned some stuff and your thoughtful telling of his story is excellent ❤
Yes, Owsley named his acid after Jimi's song, not the other way around. Thanks for your vid.
That "stange novel" that inspired Purle Haze was also a big infuence on that movie "the Purge." The plot was very similar. Hat tip to P.J. Farmer for his Night of Light.
Cool de pouvoir écouter le maître JIMI , 🔥❤️☮️✌️
Mmmm... Jimi use his right hand to write legible form to but use left hand guitar to play his music fluent. And Jimi can play his right guitar too. I love this genius man.
Loved Jimi from from the start in 60’s as a little kid. Died way too young. Rest easy my friend 🎸🎚️
a fine video,,I saw him in Cpr Denmark the day after Aarhus 13 years old..we had heard rumours,,Is he comin or..He Came and plaid for hours..a september I remember
Hey Joe is played live at Winterland, not at the Saville
an outstanding feature is hendrix signing autographs with his right hand
Ah ha...
It looks like they mashed a bunch of footage together.
This looks like minimum footage edited to play over and over again?
Guy says, not only was Jimi great guitarist, he was different. There was no one like Jimi when he came out.
Those guys seen Jimi's at his best. Like Elton John, mick Fleetwood, Freddy Mercury all said the Jimi hendrix experience was best performance they had seen. Freddy Mercury was still in art school. Freddy went out of his way to see Jimi play. Freddy kept picture of Jimi center on his mirror. Everything about Jimi Freddy love. Freddy Mercury said Jimi was ultimate rock star.
I'd bet none of those cabs are empty
Sure ain't.
Miss jim a lot❤
You know what he made music for people who would say that. Remember When he said " Anyone ....Anyone with Hearts ❤️ ... Hearts & Ears ...?
At The Montgomery festival ??
That's Who exactly Jimi Hendrix Was referring to .
Cool Cats like You.
In His way it's a salute to All of us Our hearts 💖 and Ears .
Rock's first musical genius! Thanks.
?? Hardly. There's many other geniuses before Jimi showed up and he would be the first to tell you that.
I was 16 and didn't go to school. My brother and I was going to a small cafe witch had a jukebox. And we played that songs nearly a 100 time. Big desire to go back this incredibly never forgetting time. The solo Jimi is playing here is quite different. A pity the sound and image doesn't match. But what a feeling ❤
Jimi could move so beautiifully
M A G I C !!!!!!
Minute 23 backstory on purple haze is not accurate. Early draft lyrics of purple haze have since been released and shown to be about a much deeper thing than a mystical place.
The audio is from Winterland '68
The 4 Saville Jimi shows were all in 1967 not 1968.
FYI... for the first 2.5minutes... just close your eyes... Hey Joe!
Jimi modes.
Strats
Fret with your strongest hand.
Hey I was there at short lived Brian Epstein Seville theatre what a night
Great content. Pease post in the original aspect ratio.
This is from the show in Sweden
Dug the “Hey Joe” from Winterland, was entertained by the people in comments wondering why Hendrix is what he is.
People have the right to their opinion but some people don’t play a guitar obviously. Hope his detractors find some peace in their lives….
21:40 Signing autographs with his right hand?
When he went to school, he was made to write right handed.
@@ralphthomas7868 Very true, I know several left handers who were forced to be right handed. Common back in the day ...
Dude as a lefty i noticed that as well. What the hell ?
Jimi was not left handed he played guitar left handed but wrote right handed he was ambidextrous.
I have this exact syndrome. I play guitar🎸 write✍️ and spoon🥄 right-handed. I bat and throw⚾️ left-handed, kick🥅 left-footed watch on⌚️right wrist.
Ambidextrous is being able to literally do both either way, which I can't do, and is super rare! So yeah jus say'n.
❤❤❤❤

When noel and chas Chandler left, Jimi jammed with his army buddy and created band of gypsies. Jimi welcomed Loose format approach. Although Jimi's less stressed also had memorable moments like machine gun new years 1970. A few months earlier complaints in audiance from women, asking stage hands, where's two cute white boys? LMAO!
Wow I'm very disappointed I thought this was a concert you guys really need it stop it with that damn ClickBait b*******
Live at the Albert hall
@ 13:06
WTF!!!
Interrupting Jimi with an ad at FULL BLAST.
That is not ok. Not even in the next world.
I pay for YT Premium to avoid that kind of crap.
It would be easy to edit out, for the benefit of future viewers.
@ 27:45
I really enjoyed The Monkees too.
I preferred their b-sides, which turned out to be their own songs!
Sorry Neil.
Why do people rip off what's already been out for years and put it up to make money from RUclips? True thief ... !!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE JIMI FOREVER BUT THIS IS ONE OF THE LAMEST VIDEO/AUDIO OF THE GOAT I HAVE EVER HEARD ITS LIKE A DUBBED GODZILLA FILM FROM BACK IN THE DAY
Background music is up so high in the mix that you can't hear the narration. Pitiful production....better luck next time.
O.K. Ale prečo ten názov? Ešte aj 53 rokov po jeho smti sa nehanbíte na ňom zarábať. 🤦♂️
Fake video...
Who is Andrew? The manager rolling stones says Jimi played magnificent.. Rolling stones Co Manager says, let's sign him, Jimi he's great. Andrew says, guitarist are not focal point?
Three months later they receive call from god (guitarist Eric Clapton) you guys need to come see this new band. It's Jimi, again delivering the same powerful show. , Co Manager for rolling stones and 'Andrew' who seen Jimi n New York. He says I told you we should've signed this guy when we had chance!. Andrew says, I never seen him in my life? Wtf? Is with that guy?!?!
THE ONE AND ONLY GUITAR GOD.
um... huh? lol
W T F !
I thouggt jimmi was left handed. Why is he autographing roght handed
That's right he wasn't left handed he played guitar left handed but as you noticed he wrote right handed.
Sweden 😂
pretty good vids.. terrible editing
….Sploitation
real musicians cant stand non synced music vids
Did Jimi ever play in tune. If someone today sounded the same, the majority would say it was shi*e.
Most fans can't tell the difference and we don't care, it sounds good to me .
Clickbait
This is total crap
Christ on crutches, why is it SO hard to find footage of Jimi Hendrix playing guitar?!?! big time fail, whypipo. Fail.
Not the real deal. Poor quality video and sound do not even match.
Yet another no like no sub click bait disrespectful waste of time
1:06 So, dedicate the show to the American Deserters Society and not even a little shout-out to acknowledge those who decided to serve. It wasn't their fault. Of all people, Hendrix should have known that. Loss of respect for Jimi. 😞
Let it go, brother. Enjoy the music for what it is.
@@iangillis2230
Nothing to let go. I've never thought he was that great a guitar player. I just thought as a veteran and supposedly one of the open-minded Renaissance people of the 60's era, Hendrix would have cared a little more about those who served their country.
Listen to Band of Gypsys, he gives a shout out to the soldiers fighting in Vietnam.
@@dv8322 Why do you assume that by acknowledging deserters he is shoving out those who served?! Also, you have to take the historical, sociological and polititical context into account.
@@Xcalator35
I don't know how your mind works but if I had spent 13 months in Vietnam with death knocking at my door every day and I managed to survive and went to this show and Hendrix did what he did, I would be angry to say the least. 😠
Genius? This adulation has always puzzled. He was good at producing sounds and acting up on stage, but you can't actually listen to this and feel anything. Overrated guitarist, a throaty voice like any dozen blues shouters and mere cult figure, cool with his bandanna and amps and sound enhancements like wah wah pedals. Knew how to maximize his pop appeal among impressionable youths.
Agreed. And I don't mean that negatively - he was great at doing his thing. But his fame had more to do with right time, right place. And the likes of Clapton, Townshend and Jeff Beck (himself the real iconoclast of the lot) voicing their awe certainly provided the approval necessary for unquestioned acceptance.
For me, it was Mitch Mitchell's drumming that made the Hendrix Experience work. The juxtapose of his jazzy-funky boogaloo style coupled with Jimi's intergration of r&b rhythms and effects-enhanced soloing, plus many tremendous tunes ('I Don't Live Today', 'Third Stone From the Sun', 'Castles Made of Sand', 'Crosstown Traffic...) combined for a very unique proposition during a period of tumultous musical change (with Cream and the Beatles leading the way).
Check this clip with Ronnie Wood and his pre-Jeff Beck band the Birds (not the Byrds). Cue in at 42 seconds in the link below to hear the distortion and riff that very well might have inspired 'Purple Haze', which followed a year later. Coincidence? Hmmmmm....

@@MrCherryJuice thanks for this educated comment. Usually questioning the Jimmy Hendrix pedestal is regarded as sacrilage and causes furious responses. But you've got it right, the right act at the time. I don't mind if anyone likes his music but without being an expert, I simply can't understand the appeal of the heavy handed almost clumsy riffing in Purple Haze, for instance. Nor do I follow this cult around him aided no doubt by the approval of other so-called "
guitar gods" as you rightly say.
He had bad nights like anyone. Go listen to the 3 versions of " Drivin' South " off the BBC radio sessions and see if you can say it's unimpressive playing. Imagine if he'd had access to locking tuners, and modern equipment instead of guitars that went out of tune after a few massive bends
Armchair experts always know the truth. Preach it, Milford! 😂
Wondering how old you are - Hendrix probably influenced your favorite musicians
You guys have so much wisdom and putting the stuff together is tremendously hard and you make it look so easy I want to thank you for you this podcast it's very interesting and the narrator I apologize I don't know your name You are a stick of dynamite You know what you're doing you know what you're saying and you're good doing it Jesus loves you
