@@mariahsj689nah there is some tension between Eddie and buck that has no heterosexul explanation, buck is basically Chris second dad at this point he is Chris emergency contact
As a general rule, yes, I think platonic love between two people can be as strong as romantic love. But I feel like 911 has written itself into a corner here by having Buck and Eddie forge such a strong bond when neither of them has had any romantic relationship that was in the same league. At this point it feels like Buddie is always going to eclipse whatever actual romance these guys have. I'm not saying Buck and Taylor don't care for each other, even Eddie and Ana (or Buck and Aly, Buck and Abby, etc) did, but it's hard for that to measure up to the bond between the two guys, especially since their respective love interests aren't first responders themselves and their screen time is pretty limited. Basically, what I'm saying is that even if it's *realistic* for a platonic friendship to have so much love and devotion, it's a bad decision from a creative standpoint to portray that when neither of the characters has an existing strong romantic relationship, because the eventual romance with a third party is going to pale by comparison. (Unless of course you don't *want* to put either character in a romantic relationship, I suppose Eddie might swear off dating after how it ended with Ana.)
I have this exact same opinion! But imo I don’t think they would have Eddie end up single since the writers have put such an immense emphasis on Eddie finding his true love.
To add to this (you are completely right) tropes exist for a reason. A bond like this can totally exist in Real Life, and I am a strong defender that a platonic relationship can be the same as if not more important than a romantic one. However, this is not Real life. The situations they put Buck and Eddie in are often coded as romantic. The way the show portrayed them as a family with every scene Chris was in, was not a coincidence. If you put two fictional characters in romantic situations, you end up with people thinking it's a love story- if you want it or not. I saw this TikTok recently that basically sums up to: If you paint a house it's gonna be a house no matter what your intentions were. You can say it's a square with a triangle on top as much as you want, but for most people it's gonna be a house.
It would help of Buck picked girls that were actually good for him, and at least Eddie, he is still grieving Shannon so Anna he didn't really connect Anna
Completely agree, they totally wrote themselves in a corner with them and their love lives. Especially after eddie made buck chris legal guardian and he broke up with the picture perfect woman. Now what? No matter what character you will introduce in the future it will always fall flat compared to the bond buddie (and Christopher) have. I see it go two ways. Either they will let these two be single for the rest of the show (I'm guessing two more seasons) and in the final one of them smiles at a random woman and we should just imagine that being their true love. Or they pull a supernatural and make buddie canon in the last few minutes by them holding-hands or some shit. I sadly lost hope that we will actually see their relationship on screen
@@lauratroy13 Unfortunately, this sounds quite likely (it so happens that your screen name fits with this dire prediction for Buddie, haha).
