KBShimmer Stark Raven Mad, Chanel Sequins, and Cirque Black Swan are definite summer favourites for me. I know you don't love thermals, but Fancy Gloss does some beeeautiful black thermals, if you ever feel like dipping your toe in! I recently ordered Lydia's Lament and am frothing at the mouth as I wait for it to arrive!!
NSFW Jelly was one of the first jellies I purchased, I love it so much. It feels more sophisticated than an opaque crème, maybe because I wore a lot of black cremes as a teen. I think the sheerness adds a femininity to it. Thanks for all the fun content! ❤

I'm so glad to get a better sense of what Double Dare really looked like - I saw the photos and sometimes it looked so awesome, but I heard it wasn't loved and sometimes in photos it did look muddy. I think it's a good idea but overdesigned - if it just had the shift and the reflective glitters and no/less holo that'd be great - addition by subtraction. My favorite black is Eclipse and I'm so excited for you to become acquainted with its vampy majesty! lol

I’m going to have to try ILNP Ink. I’ve been using Orly Liquid Vinyl but it’s definitely not a one coater for me.

I love Double Dare and Black Holo Wish. I also love Electrostatic (HT's black linear holo), Bat B*tch (from HT's Safiya collab, with a subtle blue sheen) and, of course HT's original creme, One Coat Black!!

Ink is my favorite black creme, either on its own or as a base for toppers. Holo Taco's One Coat Black works better for nail art - it's so opaque and painty, it works way better than Ink in my experience for little details like eyes on a face or something. But Ink has that slightly glassy depth that just seems so sophisticated. (And for more interesting blacks, Hex is the ultimate witchy 'weeny polish imo!!)

I got my Double Dare when it was briefly restocked a couple years ago and I was one of the disappointed at first- the application is strangely difficult and it feels so busy with effects that it looks like you said, muddled. But I like to think of it as a willful dog lol, it just needs to be wrangled and appreciated for what it is

You’re not alone! I only have 8 black polishes. One 1 coater, 1 jelly, a scattered holo, one flaky from Cadillacquer, Kelli’s antimatter (I don’t know if that counts since it pretty much looks purple), Eclipse, Holo Taco Waste of space. ILNP cursed looks cool.
I am one of the people who found double dare muddy. Even though it does shift to red in extreme lighting I feel like most of the time it looks like a sort of dark maroon colour rather than a true black or red shift. I think ILNP eclipse if worth getting. I got it after I had already tried double dare and I feel like it's a lot more shifty.
yeah i can definitely see Double Dare paling in comparison to Eclipse 😅 i guess now that i look at how Double Dare compares to Wicked Sorcery, it definitely is noticeably weaker in its red shimmer. i wonder if its bc the base is a bit more pigmented/less jelly 🤔
I still love reflective polishes!!! I love the KBShimmer one! I was disappointed by Holo Taco’s Double Dare, more so because the red reflective glitters aren’t very noticeable on the nail; I agree with others that it’s not very shifty for a common multichrome. DD also has the crushed holo in it, I think it was one of the first to have it, before it was called crushed holo, and it just doesn’t do anything; so all around I felt like there was both too much going on and not enough going on 🤷🏻♀️ i ended up ordering a red reflective topper from Krisable designs and that helps me wear the polish more; also Krisable has a black reflective topper- I still don’t understand how it’s supposed to work but it exists.

Pro tip-one coat black with one/two coats black holo wish. Gives you the ultra black opacity without three layers of chunky glitter-though it ultimately adds up to three coats, it’s only two coats of chunky holo, which makes a huge difference. I then use one coat of a glitter grabber (kbshimmer smooth moves is great) and two coats of glossy TC

I am one of those people who didn't like Double Dare at all. I don't know how you're painting it on so easily in the video, and how you have any shift at all! Yours looks like how I expected it to be when I ordered it, it's beautiful! My bottle was muddy, didn't shift at all. It was hard to work with even with thinner, and I am not new to polish nor reflective glitters. It went on so streaky. I put on 2 coats of a quick dry top coat and it still looked dull and weirdly matter after it dried. I feel like I shouldn't have to use a 3rd coat of top coat. I even contacted customer service and they gave me a replacement bottle, and both bottles were just a horrible formula and didn't look like the photos at all. It's easily the worst polish I own in my giant (embarrassed to say how huge HAHA) collection of polish. I think there were 2 batches made and one was just a horrible batch because a lot of people had issues with it. But yours looks so pretty!

ILNP Cityscape is hands down my favorite black nail polish! Like other than a good black Creme I don’t need any others! But glad I can’t have black holo wish and eclipse too.
I don’t own a single gold or yellow since it clashes with my skin tone. Black is more classic than yellow, but if you don’t love wearing it then don’t feel bad about having less options! I’m picking up a black cream for the first time this Black Friday.
I’m in the camp of DD critics. Mine just looks like dark brown blah. The similar (but better :) Gates of Hell from MC on the other hand…chef’s kiss! I would also nominate Cirque’s Black Swan with the holographic magnetic effect!

I Have lots of blacks! I like everything you listed (except double dare) and I might have to go buy OPI Cave The Way. I saw it at Marshalls for 5$ this week so I need to go back for it. Other blacks I love: Orly View from L2 ( black with multi color glitter), In the Moonlight ( black with silver sparkles) ILNP Hex (black crelly with flakies), Holo Taco Blacklisted ( frosted metal), I like black toppers like Cirque spotted, Zoya leopard spots (crackle).

These are nice! I also don't often reach for black except outside for spooky season. For a plain black creme, I discovered Victorian Varnish Obsidian, which is 18mL for $8 and the best price point I've found (I was looking at Starrily Vantablack to replace ILNP Ink but found the VV when I bought Lancaster's Luck); it's super opaque in just 1 coat. For specialty finish, I have ILNP Cityscape and it's so so pretty - the scattered holo is very delicate and twinkly. My only addition to your list would be Holo Taco Bat B*tch!

yes i think its safe to say any reflective glitter polishes will sry textured! i normally do use a glitter grabber but didn’t for this swatch clip sice i was going to take it right off 😅

Don't get me wrong eclipse has a more obvious shift, that's for sure. I just prefer the tone of both the black and red shifts and extra reflective in double dare 🖤 ♥️
I kinda gasped upon seeing ILNP's Ink ... so black! All my blacks have some sort of shimmer, magnetic, flakie, holo, etc., additions to them. I just received Mooncat's The 13th Hour, a black with cobalt blue shimmer. I also love their Access Denied, black with emerald green shimmer.

Young Nails black polish is super opaque in one coat, and it's only $3. I racked up on them. They will be having a Black Friday sale, if anyone is interested. I don't think they're -free, though, FYI.

I think ILNP eclipse if worth getting. I got it after I had already tried double dare and I feel like it's a lot more shifty.
yeah i can definitely see Double Dare paling in comparison to Eclipse 😅 i guess now that i look at how Double Dare compares to Wicked Sorcery, it definitely is noticeably weaker in its red shimmer. i wonder if its bc the base is a bit more pigmented/less jelly 🤔

I still love reflective polishes!!! I love the KBShimmer one! I was disappointed by Holo Taco’s Double Dare, more so because the red reflective glitters aren’t very noticeable on the nail; I agree with others that it’s not very shifty for a common multichrome. DD also has the crushed holo in it, I think it was one of the first to have it, before it was called crushed holo, and it just doesn’t do anything; so all around I felt like there was both too much going on and not enough going on 🤷🏻♀️ i ended up ordering a red reflective topper from Krisable designs and that helps me wear the polish more; also Krisable has a black reflective topper- I still don’t understand how it’s supposed to work but it exists.
yay for the reflective love!! makes me sad seeing so many comments say they hate it and are tired of brands still doing it lol i’m like give me moreee 😝 but aw yeah i can definitely see that about DD being more subtle, the vids i’ve seen of Eclipse look soo intense with how shifty it is. but wow i never knew DD had crushed holo! it looks so different compared to their other crushed holos, but i totally get what you mean where theres so many elements but its somehow not giving anything lol . but omg i need to check out Krisable Designs reflective toppers?? i only just discovered fancy gloss has some colored reflective toppers and i was considering picking some up for BF, but i’m so intrigued by the black one you mentioned lol yeah those were my thoughts too, how would that even work?? 😅 it doesn’t look like much in the swatches lol

Pro tip-one coat black with one/two coats black holo wish. Gives you the ultra black opacity without three layers of chunky glitter-though it ultimately adds up to three coats, it’s only two coats of chunky holo, which makes a huge difference. I then use one coat of a glitter grabber (kbshimmer smooth moves is great) and two coats of glossy TC

I am one of those people who didn't like Double Dare at all. I don't know how you're painting it on so easily in the video, and how you have any shift at all! Yours looks like how I expected it to be when I ordered it, it's beautiful!
My bottle was muddy, didn't shift at all. It was hard to work with even with thinner, and I am not new to polish nor reflective glitters. It went on so streaky. I put on 2 coats of a quick dry top coat and it still looked dull and weirdly matter after it dried. I feel like I shouldn't have to use a 3rd coat of top coat. I even contacted customer service and they gave me a replacement bottle, and both bottles were just a horrible formula and didn't look like the photos at all. It's easily the worst polish I own in my giant (embarrassed to say how huge HAHA) collection of polish. I think there were 2 batches made and one was just a horrible batch because a lot of people had issues with it. But yours looks so pretty!
omg this makes me so sad lol 😭 its crazy how different some peoples bottles were, yeah i wondered if it was a batch issue bc how else could they be soo different? even the replacement being bad sucks soo much 😞 have you tried Mooncat’s Gates of Hell or ILNP’s Eclipse? those have the closest vibes to DD but without the red reflective glitter but are still super gorgeous!

I Have lots of blacks! I like everything you listed (except double dare) and I might have to go buy OPI Cave The Way. I saw it at Marshalls for 5$ this week so I need to go back for it. Other blacks I love: Orly View from L2 ( black with multi color glitter), In the Moonlight ( black with silver sparkles) ILNP Hex (black crelly with flakies), Holo Taco Blacklisted ( frosted metal), I like black toppers like Cirque spotted, Zoya leopard spots (crackle).

These are nice! I also don't often reach for black except outside for spooky season. For a plain black creme, I discovered Victorian Varnish Obsidian, which is 18mL for $8 and the best price point I've found (I was looking at Starrily Vantablack to replace ILNP Ink but found the VV when I bought Lancaster's Luck); it's super opaque in just 1 coat. For specialty finish, I have ILNP Cityscape and it's so so pretty - the scattered holo is very delicate and twinkly. My only addition to your list would be Holo Taco Bat B*tch!
I love your lineup! When you said eight blacks my first thought was, how many blacks does a person need. My answer to myself was, as many as you want!😂 As you know, I don’t have many polishes. I have three blacks, Orly, a black jelly (for a spider sandwich like you mentioned) and Orly x KM Anti-matter. I have been meaning to get the HT black but never think of it until October and I’ve missed the deadline again to get it on time.

I have After Midnight, it dries very textured. Glitter topcoat highly recommended! The sparkle is amazing though, it's worth the application hassle

yes i think its safe to say any reflective glitter polishes will sry textured! i normally do use a glitter grabber but didn’t for this swatch clip sice i was going to take it right off 😅
I have NSFW jelly too, it’s so good for nail art!!! But my only true black nail polish is Orly Liquid Vinyl 😅 and then I have many dark and moody shades but not a true black. One is enough 😊

Don't get me wrong eclipse has a more obvious shift, that's for sure. I just prefer the tone of both the black and red shifts and extra reflective in double dare 🖤 ♥️

Young Nails black polish is super opaque in one coat, and it's only $3. I racked up on them. They will be having a Black Friday sale, if anyone is interested. I don't think they're -free, though, FYI.

@@PolishedYogi I bought all of the Young Nails regular line. They all were less than one order of any Inde purchase. LOL. Most of them are really good polishes with great formulas, even without reference to the low price point. Sally Hansen even seems to be more expensive these days.
