After conducting a situation briefing with officials from the local government unit (LGU) of San Mateo in the Province of Rizal, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. proceeds to San Mateo Elementary School to personally check the condition of evacuees currently taking shelter in the designated evacuation center on July 26, 2024.
According to the Public Information Office (PIO) of San Mateo, thousands of individuals fled their homes after widespread floodings caused extensive destructions in several barangays. As of yesterday, more than 13,000 individuals or 3,300 families are still displaced in evacuation centers across the Municipality.
Since the onslaught of the weather disturbances, President Marcos Jr. has ordered a whole-of-government approach in dealing with the effects of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon to the areas mostly affected, particularly in Regions III, IV-A and the National Capital Region (NCR).
