  • It's #MoMonday... on Tuesday? Without further delay, here is a gem of a video tutorial for one of the MOST common questions we get.
    "Mo Pinel, can you build me an arsenal??"
    Yes. Yes, he can. And Mo breaks it down simply and brilliantly for the 3 bowler styles out there in the world. Are you Rev Dominant? No problem. Matched? No problem. Speed Dominant? No problem.
    Almost 12 minutes of information here, enjoy!

    MO. You’ve always been The Godfather of the modern day ball design/layout/surface/you name it.... everything you publicized, I studied to the “T” with my favorite being how influential balance holes could be in determining the strength or weakness of any ball. I used to absolutely LOVE taking an old timer and proving to him that no matter what he would like to think, two balls drilled with completely different CG positions would react THE EXACT SAME So long as the drilling angle and pin distance were the same. Anyways, I built a huge customer base just by proving to these old timers or anyone else for that matter that often what we think are factual are actually just years of misunderstanding.
    Anyways, I had the pleasure of getting to meet you down in East Hartford, CT during a Radical, Brunswick, DV8 product release. During this course, you showed us factual data of how much the Differential dramatically increased through your use of different layouts in combination with your totally genius patented “Finger scoop” technology as an example because it had just been launched. Anyways, My question to you is,, how do you continue forward now without wanting to strangle the higher ups at the USBC for basically taking away one of the single most important things u researched throughout I’d guess a majority of your career. I for one, HATE IT. I absolutely fucking hate it. Because of you I was able to find so much success for all of my go to layouts, and every single one utilized a balance hole. My two favorites were by far two strong symmetrical balls with your patented Motion hole. How dare they take what you worked your ass off for. I know you are one of the single most busiest men alive but if you can find the time to share your thoughts on this I would be soooo sooo very greatful. Mo Pinel, you are and always will be a LEGEND my friend. Thank you for everything that you do for us.
    Sean

    I only bowled in a league three seasons in my youth (33 & younger), and now I’m starting to bowl again at the age of 68, due to a very long recovery from back injuries. I have a 35+ year old urethane ball for spares right of the center and a new Storm Hyroad pearl, plus a 900 Harsh Reality that was just released in the middle of February, 2024, and it’s my main ball at the moment. I also just ordered a Hammer Black Widow 3.0, and I plan to get some lessons from my local pro shop owner, before I have the Black Widow drilled, as I want it to be my big hook, high rotation ball. It will take me some time to learn how to throw a big hook with control, but I think it will be worth the effort and money for lessons. I don’t plan to get more than these four balls until I’m much better at bowling and going to tournaments, if that ever happens.

    Great and informative video. Thanks so much for posting. I've been searching for a video that actually explains this. Everyone else talks about it generically with no details. .... Additional videos on this would be great. I also like the request made by @Miroslav Vilagura. Again, thanks for the great video.

    I think the info is great.
    My only slight disagreement is with pin down on symmetrical balls. I've recently drilled quite a few for myself, which have no balance hole, and they certainly do corner on the backend and kick out back pins (in several houses) as good as balls with pin up over ring, and pin close to the VAL. I do feel that leaving steady corner pins are more a result of not being zoned properly (not reading lane right), or/and with not having the right ball in hand. It most likely also is a matter of the bowler's respective style, but that can be said for any type drilling.
    Mo's videos are very informative and of great benefit to all bowlers. Thank you Mo.

    helpful video, thank you. I guess i may or may not be in the "new" rv-dominate geezer category. I don't know just yet though. Have to test out new hip first.
    Your ball selection suggestions helped confirm my thoughts on new set. You added some new ideas too.
    considering as potential setup two aggressive pearl asym, ine solid asym controlled setup, then my old El Nino 2k, last 1-2 pearls for the dry followed by a pearl urethane and my trusty Storm Thunder Storm Pro solid urethane.
    Will build slowly if i find i can be competitive still... if not i guess I'll watch. ;)

    Which ball, by core design, we are looking for those three types of players? Low, Medium, High RG? Also which Diff and PSA values to look for?

    For the matched bowler, what are the PSA locations for the three asymmetrical balls? Mo didn't mention that in the video. He only said two pin up and one pin down.

    • @RadicalBowling
      @RadicalBowling  5 лет назад +1

      It would be similar to speed dominant, mix up your PSA to fine tune the ball reaction shape.

    Mo can you explain the pin-to-PAP distance on your Symmetrical layouts? Previously you have stated that 5-6" pins in symmetricals would create a "later" breakpoint. In this video, and more recently, it seems like you're saying pins closer to 3-4 inches create a "sharper" breakpoint. Can you verify the differences? For example, a 5" pin vs a 3" pin (assume the Val is the same, pin up for argument sake)

    Why do you leave a lot of corner pins Whit a pin down sym ball???

  • @todddavis5433
    @todddavis5433 5 лет назад

    Asyms seem different now compared to when they first came around..back in the late 90‘s early 2000‘s I never had a problem with them. In fact they was probably my best balls now all the ones I've had roll out and leave weak 10‘s and 5-7‘s..I'm at the point where I only use syms now without my rev rate and speed changing

    • @hackprefect
      @hackprefect 5 лет назад

      For some reason, most asyms seem to have really strong covers, even more so than how strong covers have become in recent years. My favourite asym is a Red Zone from 2006 for that very reason. Asyms just roll out for me.
      Perhaps you could try the Motiv Venom Recoil. It's got a more medium cover while still being asym.

    • @todddavis5433
      @todddavis5433 5 лет назад

      @@hackprefect I've only had luck with one asym in the past several years.. It was a 900 global hard drive which was a great ball but it cracked and I haven't found anything remotely close to it since

    Is there any specific ball setup that would be perfect for a backup ball?

    • @the13thking
      @the13thking 3 года назад

      You would have to have a good proshop personal watch you, but at that point your basically drilling for a lefty. So it’s be these drillings, paired with your speed/revs, but for a lefty type release, as your basically throwing a weak left handed type hook.

  • @MrMalditor

    Interesting. I don't necessarily "need" a spare ball. I am able to flatten out any ball I have to through it straight. Just gives me the freedom of one extra sym or asym ball in the arsenal I guess.

  • @adamwinch2959
    @adamwinch2959 3 года назад

    I'm really surprised he said you need a spare ball, because flattening out your hand is a really good skill especially when you have limited balls i'm surprised he didn't say anything more about that.

    Great video! Not sure if you answer questions here, but if you do .... what would you recommend for a pin down asym layout? my astro physix pin down with psa in the thumb is too quick and too continuous off the spot. pap is 4 7/8 right, 3/8 up. The dual angle numbers on the astro physix come out to 53 x 3 7/8 x 72. Any advice would be appreciated.

    This is a very informative video my question is what ball for a REV dominant person would you suggest getting first because bowling balls are 200 plus dollars a piece we don't have $1,200 to spend at one time so what ball would you suggest getting first a symmetrical ball for the Rev dominant player and then build from there
