Omg really guys? These are the only ones I ever owned, to the point where I was confused when I saw the other generations 🤣. I'm from Argentina like Yisela, maybe that's why lmao we did not have a lot of variety in mi city when I was a kid. AND Ivy was my first one, now that I remember!

I'm so glad you found the G2s appealing! I had the video game based on G2s as a child and it has always had a special place in my heart, but since the G2s only lasted a short while and they never had an actual show made of them they don't really seem to be as popular.
I'd love to see more G2 ponies! It would be really cool!

I have a soft spot for G2 ponies since my very first original mlp was from that gen (Clever Clover), they get bad rep for their weird models but I find them very charming in their own oddball way. Your work and care you put in these always amazes me, keep it up! :D

    • @RetroGeekCrafts
      @RetroGeekCrafts  2 года назад +13

I didn't think I would like them... I was a little skeptical while doing this pony but as soon as I saw the colour of the hair... That was it. Instant love. I really like the shape too! I hope I can do more G2s soon ☺️

Tbh I honestly like the shape of the model and the moveable leg. Honestly wouldn't have complained if they kept that model for awhile! But honestly I didn't know much about g2 ponies or what they looked like until now though.

    • @jessijaneway5093

I had one called moon shadow. If you pressed the tail her head would bow down. Plus she had a magnet SO she could pick up things. I absolutely love these slender lanky models. I really think these are the most beautiful mlp. But clearly I'm in the minority because you never hear people talk about g2. Mine came with so much stuff too. A little dresser to hold her accessories. A gate that you could attach a rainbow to, and of course a comb and hair clips.

I wonder if the general dislike for g2 ponies is because the design is such a massive departure from the g1 look? Seems like g3 walked it back a bit, being a little closer to the g1 look before having 3.5 and g4 take a hard turn towards the cartoony.

I had this one as a kid! In fact, I still have her. She was my favorite of the ones I got as a child. I loved the design of the G2 ponies the most, it's too bad they had such a short run here in the US and that so many people seemed to dislike them. I thought they were adorable and I wasn't even the typical girly girl at that age. This video has given me some great ideas on how to restore my G2s so they look almost new. Thanks!

Currently, owning a G2 is one of my goals. I own ponies from every generation EXCEPT G2. Since I am American, they're very rare here and international shipping costs for some of the more unique G2s just isn't affordable for me. Love to see them get some love on your channel!

You're American? Then you should have no issue finding the G2 ponies that were released in the states for cheap. They're easy to find on reselling sites for $10USD or less since they weren't as popular as other generations.

As someone who has started to catalogue and clean up my own personal collection, including one of this exact pony, it's exciting to me seeing G2s getting some attention like this! Their design was so cute and elegant, a lovely mix of features that puts them perfectly between the more realistic horse shapes of G1 and the cuter cartoony body and head of G3, they're such a distinctive generation

G2!! Yeeeee~ I had one of these as a kid xD Not one with this mechanism, but just a G2 pony as a whole. I forget the name, might have been Posey, but it's the one with pink hair and yellow body. Butterflies too - so practically Fluttershy Ancestor
One of my fave toys as a kid, I gave it so many baths, took it to the sandbox and woop we go wash it again in the sink~ Together with a Charizard, they were certainly bath buddies. I was a little disappointed that I kept the toy so clean because I loved seeing the difference of the dirt and dustiness coming off and stuff looking like new again xD Never inked or ripped the pony though. Maybe gave it a mud bath and buried it a few times, but it was pretty much always washed soon after

a tip for a more relaxed hairdo would be to wrap the hair around the pony's neck, and the tail a couple times around its leg! since the body parts are thicker than the perm rollers the wave is more subtle but it still has a nice flip :D wonderful work, hope to see more g2s! I always loved them more than the g1s as a kid - something about their more expressive and somewhat more realistic proportions made them more appealing to me I think. she looks stunning c:

this made me so happy!! i never had my little ponies myself as a kid but i always coveted my cousin’s, and when i was a teenager and saw g1 and g3 ponies on the internet i was sort of confused by how different they looked from how i remembered… years later i realized my cousin’s were g2 ponies, and given they seem to be in short supply, the toy collector in me is retroactively kind of horrified at the fact my cousins had them as pool/bath toys 😨 i think g1 is aesthetically my favorite, but i still have a soft spot for g2. glad to see this one restored so nicely ☺️

Thank you so much for your message, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video ☺️☺️ G1s will always have a special place in my heart but I have to say I'm really happy I discovered G2s. And finding out that they were only made for a year in some places makes them even more special! And yes, I remember my own ponies and I'm horrified by the haircuts I gave them (I unfortunately lost them a long time ago. They'd be really sought after today!)

I think this is the first G2 pony I’ve seen. Nice job on cleaning her up, she looks great. The UV Chamber works wonders. Would be very interested to find out how the head/leg mechanism works. If you are able to figure it out please do a video on it.
Very smart to use a tool to apply the super glue. Those tubes aren’t made for precision application. Small suggestion, use a separate tool to apply the glue and another to position the work piece. Prevents you accidentally glueing something you don’t want glued... ask me how I know 😹😹😹 For a larger piece, I use a tooth pick, it’s cheap and disposable so I don’t have to clean glue off my tools. For a more precise application on a small piece, a needle or straight pin works great.
That poor baby kitty, so deprived! Give Boo some love, and tell him my kitties said hissssss 😸

In the “meta” of my play universe, G2 ponies were a special kind of rich, royal blooded ponies. Often a little spoiled, and very high ranking. 🤭
Nearly all of my ponies were hand-me-downs from my cousin, some in good condition, some not so much. In the large pile of ponies, only two of them were G2, and only one of them still had her crystal eyes. She was crowned the queen of my ponies for being so fancy. 😅😋

  • @instigatedeye5941

The normal G2 ponies, like Sky Skimmer, can have the heads removed easily, and are actually really easy to restore and give new hair. I haven't taking a posable one apart yet, but I do have one that turns the head when you spin the tail knob.
I love seeing some variety with other types of pony toys though
