    Playa, I started watching your videos last year at my lowest, full of pride and anger , I wasn’t getting better. Had unrealistic expectations of myself. I was a 95 player after playing for 7 years. I lost the ego, worked on putting, chipping and mind. I’m working on my 30 yard shot one dayI found my swing. One episode you mentioned something to in regard to your attitude on the course is correlated to attitude in life. That resonates with me and told myself, I may always suck but I love the game and I’m going to ruin it if I don’t change. So I just stopped getting mad, stopped ruining other peoples time when my game fell apart and let go of the pride. Last Saturday I hit a 82 and could have easily been a 78 but duffed a couple chips. In that, i swing with no tension, not concerned what people think and now I’m straighter and longer than 10 years ago. I was told and read that if after 3 years, If you haven’t broke in the 80s then you never will and if you come over the top, then you always will. I’m hitting a little draw done. It can be done and attitude is the main factor. Thanks for your channel and positive energy.

It’s just the trick of hitting the correct fairway, avoiding hero shots, double chips and three stabs on the green.

    I really enjoyed this episode. Interesting notes around 6:30, it's something I've experienced as well here in southern Norway where the surface can be quite enjoyable early morning, but come after 11 and the ground is unforgiving meaning getting a good high chip can be extremely taxing. Low tees will get you rolling for days though.
    Definitely takes a while to get into the northern european mindset of park courses.

      Can you talk a bit more about the Northern European mindset for golf? I live in Southern California where the golf is so different, but I am preparing for a trip to Europe to play--probably in the UK. I played a round in France last month but it wasn't so bad actually. The ball flew almost 30% further for me, and the greens played super slow. I was no using my clubs but I had a sand wedge with a graphite shaft and found bumping and running with a 9 iron more sensible with the clubs I had. Usually in California bump and run is not easy to do because the grass here is very sticky and will stop many balls that touch the ground. The greens on the other hand end up being quite fast

    • @iangraham705
      @iangraham705 Год назад +2

      @@thekoreantraveler it’s very weather dependent in uk, you need to adapt a lot to the conditions and then can change rapidly . If it’s hard and fast then you often need to land before greens and run it up, if it’s damp the greens can be ultra receptive. Part of the fun….

      @@iangraham705 In theory that's what I love about the game that i can't get at home where the play is more or less repetitive, and the only variation comes with the green speed which is a bit dependent on the weather. Growing up I used to live in Texas and down there it would be Bermuda grad golf all the way, and every summer we would go up to Utah which would have more bent grass courses. As someone who has made the transition to playing Bermuda to bent grass, I can attest that it is way different. Bent grass feels sticky and tends to grab the club way more, but at the end of the day you can’t over think it, you just need to return to the fundamentals and focus on swinging smooth and accelerating through the ball. I find that the second I’m making excuses for a bad round it’s already too late because then I’ve convinced myself that something is wrong, when having bad holes and bad rounds are really 100% normal and happen all the time.

I would think just about every UK course will be like this right now, looking sort of lush and green but actually pretty dry and/or baked.
