    I just made almost exactly the same tool. I like how you have your hardy on it definitely going to add that to mine. I knocked it off the anvil twice. Thanks for sharing 👍.

      Awesome! Yeah the hardy post shank thingy is definitely key! Thanks for the feedback! ✌️😁👍

      Aw man, thanks a lot! Really appreciate the feedback, it works great too, I'm gonna try to put together another video showing different dies etc and will actually use it to make somethin, stay tuned! Happy forging!

    Great job. My only suggestion would be to have the tail that fits in the hardy hole extend up the back of the guillotine two or three inches; welded all the way for a stronger join. There's going to be a lot of stress put on it when in use.

      @@glennmartin6492 yeah, more like wait till it breaks, leave it till the last minute when you really need the tool to complete a project deadline, then fix it haha that’s more my style 😆

    Love the idea, would like to have for my forge, what r the measurements for all the pieces

    • @blaisegoldman
      @blaisegoldman  Год назад

      Hey Jeff thanks for the feedback, so the whole thing is about 8 inches wide 9 inches tall, and the die blocks are 1“ x 2“. That said after using it in the workshop over the past year or so I think I would probably try and make it a little bit more compact, I’d probably go with three-quarter inch by one and a half inch stock for the die blocks

  • @steve_____K307
    @steve_____K307 2 года назад +1

    Thanks for sharing. I wonder if it would have been slightly better to allow the lower die to pass through the base and rest directly on the anvil surface. Not sure, but just a thought. Also, a friendly side note, and maybe for next time, is that the music really doesn't add anything to the video. I scrambled to cancel 'mute' each time I saw that you were talking. Thanks again!

      Thanks for the feedback Steve, I would definitely be keen to try some variations on the tool, as well as on the video style, appreciate the suggestions! Cheers!

    What are the di blocks made of ? Mild steel? Tool steel? Thanks agagin

    • @blaisegoldman
      @blaisegoldman  7 месяцев назад

      These ones are just mild steel (1018 cold rolled) they do get deformed over time but you can just regrind them, would be nice to get some tool steel eventually

  • @dominic8249
    @dominic8249 Год назад +1

    What kind of stele did you use for the blocks?

    • @blaisegoldman
      @blaisegoldman  Год назад

      For now I’m just using 1018 cold rolled steel, they will get beat up pretty quick though, a tool steel would be a better way to go ✌️💀🔥

  • @rc51fun62
    @rc51fun62 Год назад +1

    How thick was the steel you used.i like the open ended design a lot better than others I have seen

    • @blaisegoldman
      @blaisegoldman  Год назад +1

      Hey thanks for checking out the vid! Yeah the open side has some real advantages if you have an odd shaped piece you want to put in there. The back plate is 1/4”, the dies are just cold rolled 1 x 2

    Any reason why you couldn't weld it up instead of bolting? I know you have the versatility to take it apart for repair or die up sizing.

    • @blaisegoldman
      @blaisegoldman  2 года назад +1

      I guess my thinking was that I could use different size dies eventually, this way I have a little more capability with the same basic fixture
