    Part 4 is probably gonna be like 5 or 6 hours long. It's the longest arc of the series.

    I firmly believe griffith didn’t like casca, he never thought about her in the dungeon, he thought about guts. Guts is the only person who made griffith forget his dream and make it feel dull, he literally thought that in the dungeon. I think him coming onto casca was a last ditch effort to get guts to stay since casca would stay if he got pity from her, cause the look on his face when guts said he is leaving again seemed betrayed, we know griffith is having a million feeling a minute concerning guts, again, he thought that in the dungeon, and everything about his actions after being freed shows that. he can’t live without guts, but he’s so mad at him for ruining his dream. When he hears guts is leaving again he tries to think about his dream to escape the reality that guts is going to leave, but when the carriage crashes reality hits that he can no longer achieve the dream, and he thinks about the best possible scenario his life could come to, casca babying him, he laughs and wants to kill himself from thinking about that fact. Also griffith being torn about guts is extremely apparent, when they rescue him, he goes to choke guts, but then he comfortingly puts a hand on guts. And in the eclipse he reaches out to save guts. Also when griffith says the whole “never again with you” thing that doesn’t make total sense, I think it means he can’t keep forgiving guts for abandoning him, he didn’t want guts to touch him and act kind to him and help him because griffith can’t handle his complex emotions for guts which is full of hatred and love. not even saying it’s gay love, but it’s clear everything for griffith revolves around guts. As I said before this isn’t some secret or theory, he literally said guts shined brighter than his dream, you know, the dream he has given his whole life for

      Griffith doesn’t see the difference between gods and demons, friends and enemies, or love and hate. It’s why he’ll try and save Guts, but then butcher his friends and f Casca in front of him. He’s obsessed with Guts because he’s the first person that can be his equal. Everyone else is either property or a stepping stone. Guts is the only one who can be a true companion, rival, lover, killer, etc; all the things a person can be to another person.
      That just my opinion anyway.

    You should be proud of this. I know it's just talking about a fictional story but there's not a lot of people who can take something their passionate about and actually make something with it a convey that passion so well and explain why you have that passion. And it's especially difficult to do that with a series like Berserk. Anyway it's easy to see that you've put in a lot of work and obviously a lot of time. I have to disagree quite strongly, I love these videos but his misunderstanding of a lot of griffiths motives after being released from the cell kept nagging me. Mostly cause he kept ignoring info like how griffith literally thought to himself that his dream felt dull in comparison to guts in his mind, also the complex emotions he felt for guts from hate to love and anything in between. Also he really honed in on the fact that griffith tried to choke him, yet didn’t mention he put a comforting hand on guts afterward, showing how torn griffith is. In this video he kept trying to make it seem like griffith liked casca or he was simply trying to get revenge on guts, and hell maybe some of it was trying to get revenge on guts, but again it’s far from being that black and white, and I definitely don’t think griffith likes casca, none of his thoughts in the dungeon were about casca, it was all about guts, and I think that was intended to setup what happens outside the dungeon and everything that tore griffith in 15 different ways at once, like guts is leaving again, I can’t attain my dream, I don’t have control of casca anymore, me and guts had a moment so maybe he won’t leave, how can I get him to stay, maybe if I throw myself at casca something will develop, point is he was desperate

Also, nothing emphasizes Guts' "struggle" against the darkness, both mental/emotional in the form of the Beast of Darkness _and_ the literal demons he kills, quite like the nickname Skull Knight gave him: "Struggler."

    Some things to add:
    I never noticed that RIckert had his own personal eclipse. We always think that Rickert missed the eclipse, which he did, but he was the only one there for the pre festival feast. And like Guts, he was the ONLY survivor. And like Guts, Skull Knight saved his life. And like Guts, he sees a homie get ripped in half by the Slug Lord, marking the moment where Rickert/Guts gave into despair. Rickert and Guts might have had alot in common if Miura had written for 5 more years
    On the first read, Guts and Casca's behavior pre-griffith rescue is so cute and adorable and makes me really root for them. On a second read it is almost unbearably tragic. Seeing the innocence and hopefulness in both of them only to know what looms over the horizon
    Wyald (Wylad, I mustve had the same scan lol) is amazing. The leg of the story from Griffith's rescue to the Eclipse is incredible and Wyald is a huge part of it. His brutality makes for an excellent villain. Storywise he represents a true "no going back" moment. The world of insane demon creatures is starting to spill over into the world of our heroes. Guts actually kills Wyald too, instead of getting trounced like with Zodd. It just goes to show how fucking hard it is to kill an apostle, and we already know that there are way more (from the Rickert mini eclipse). Wyald really was like one of the 4 Horsemen of the Apacolypse. Bringing a dread shadow of despair and evil with him.
    6:57:12 Is that confirmed to be the same lady? I always wondered. The chick has the same hood and the baby's hair looks about the same. I can accept that its the same one, but i always assumed the lady just died in torture

    Dude, ever since you uploaded this video, I put it on with just the audio when I go to bed. I always get to at least the 10 minute mark and I fall asleep, not coz what you’re saying is boring but rather the complete opposite: it’s riveting and it’s like how I would imagine a convo with a friend would go that has the same love for berserk as I do. Im one of those people that needs a good story to fall asleep, and by falling asleep every time at max the 30th minute mark, it’s like the story of Berserk is never ending for me. You’re doing the lords work, my friend. Im not even religious and I just said that. Your channel deserves more traffic and I just know that with time, you will get there. You’ve got that casual and chill voice that I could listen to for (literally) hours, not to be creepy or anything lol plus the humor is on-point! Biggest difference between Guts and all the other big sword guys - we actually see Guts grow and train with his weapon, by the time we see him with his slab of a sword, we full well know and believe that the man can wield it. In fact he is the only one who can, since he trained with the weapon in all its different iterations, since childhood.

    • @distantsea
      @distantsea 3 года назад +8

      Yeah I thought it was super interesting that the big sword stuff was explained in a really natural way. He's been swordfighting since 6 and Gambino's band never had small child swords so he always had to succeed with swords that were too big for him. I feel like that experience is what Guts draws on when he tells Isidro to build a fighting style based on what he's good at instead of trying to copy Guts' style.

    Something in particular that I haven't seen anyone else comment on yet was your musical selection. I couldn't help but notice that many of your choices were from sources that were inspired by, or at least had many thematic and/or stylistic similarities to Berserk. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Witcher, Vikings, Nier:Automata, Sicario, and even some of Susumu Hirasawa's non-Berserk stuff. And you successfully managed to match them up to appropriate scenes and moments. As someone who does similar stuff for my my weekly TTRPG campaigns, I know how difficult it can be to get just the right track for just the right scene, so kudos to you. Thanks, and great job!

    I think seeing griffiths jealousy as being jealous towards guts for having casca is way off, it’s much more likely the opposite that he’s jealous of casca for having guts, because you know during his time in the dungeon he was thinking all these complex feeling towards guts, hatred, love, and everything in between too complicated to put in to words, and that he realized his dream of having a kingdom paled in comparison to guts, I feel like you just ignored all that, which is fine enough cause you gotta conserve time, but a lot of what you went on to say about griffith and casca contradicts what we know about Griffith and what he values, cough guts cough

    • @GigaChadh976

      Griffith is jealous that guts is in casca’s life because that means Griffith no longer had complete control over her.

    • @hamachibeans4471
      @hamachibeans4471 3 года назад +13

      @@GigaChadh976 that’s what’s so great about the whole fucked up chain of events ever since guts left the band of the hawk, it’s so complicated with so many working parts that a majority of the theories are probably all true on some level, but mostly just when they pertain to guts.
      I don’t doubt griffith didn’t want to lose control over casca on some level, but that is such a petty and small thing that I doubt that was part of griffiths big picture (not that he even knows his big picture at that point anymore). cause as I stated before, we literally see in griffiths mind in the dungeon that for one reason or another, it is all about guts. Whether it be for hatred or love or 500 different indescribable emotions in between. oh wait, we DO know he is feeling all of those emotions at once cause he states it as such when thinking about guts, which explains his extremely erratic and contradictory behavior when it comes to guts. he goes to choke guts, then he puts a comforting hand on him. he’ll give guts a spiteful look, then he’ll give him a look of compassion. He’ll say never again with you, then before he sacrifices his friends he’ll try to catch his best friend out of instinct. This stuff isn’t simple, but again mostly when it comes to guts.
      I just realized when writing this that him coming on to casca was probably a last ditch effort to get casca and guts to stay to take care of him, but when he hears guts is STILL gonna leave again, that pushes him over the edge, I mean you can even see it by the look in his eye. So then his mind puts everything into his dream and he loses it, takes the carriage, crashes it, sees a vision that if his plan to get even just casca to stay was successful it would be a pathetic existence anyway of being babied by her, then laughs at how pathetic his life has become and tries to kill himself.
