I think CP is talking passed Sam. Sam underlining point is that: Gods people [now] are those who believe in His Son; whether Jew or Gentile. If you believe in Gods Son you are His people, if you do not your not His people. However Sam also highlights how this doesnt mean that God doesnt havent a plan for the ethnic decendents of Abraham [i.e ethnic Jews]. He still has a plan for them; but it doesnt come under the connotations that their His people [cf. Matthew 21:43].
