Oh my god!! I love this lesson. I focus too much on left fingers in order to make sound. Placing left fingers on the board is not all. It looks like I need to utilize all my muscles in the upper body. The sound should come from the abdominal muscle, moving to the shoulder blade, the upper arm, the palm and the fingers. I have never thought about this logic. It is interesting to learn that fingers have no muscles. I really like that big muscles lead small muscles. Thanks a lot.

I tried practicing according to your advice, and it was nothing short of transformational. I'm happy, and grateful.

I just learned that creating music is not just the capacity to reflect and influence human emotion... it it’s a more of an organic existence with nature.
    Great lesson 👍👍

Thank you so much for uploading such a deliberately explanation on violin practice. Some notions are valuable, such as “there’s no clear difference between arm, finger or wrist vibrato”....

Jinny, this video is awesome! My son has been playing violin for just over 2 years now (his teacher pegged him as a natural, he just needs to have the desire to play more), but as a child with ADHD, he's constantly in his head, striving for perfection (something rather common among ADHDers even if they don't have the energy to reach that "perfection"). Your more relaxed speaking and bringing attention to ones consciousness and muscles definitely works for getting an ADHDer out of their own head. My son loves violin, but often comes home with a headache from school because when it's not his private lesson, it's everyone in a group and the kids get loud, tuning, playing different songs at the same time, talking loud, etc at the beginning of class. It's not because of the sound itself, but how overwhelming 14 overlapping sounds like that can be for someone with ADHD. I can't wait to show him your videos, I hope it reawakens his passion for playing and gets him out of his head, helps him not think about class at school being chaotic, but learning from your video to relax when he plays and hopefully he can take that to school with him and be able to shut out all the noise like I learned to do as a kid when I played trombone. I found you because of Rob Landes video, and your gentle demeanor and how kindly you explain things, you're perfect to teach even children with ADHD, as you're not overwhelming at all, and no hard staring, which can affect an ADHDer's confidence and make them go right back inside of their own head and make more mistakes because they feel an expectation of being perfect. I know I said a lot here, but it's not often I come across a video that I know would be helpful to my son and not make him feel overwhelmed or pressured.

Hi Akiko! Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I have taught kids with ADHD and autism and I can see myself not that far from the line people call it "ADHD or ADD". They are very smart and it can be sometimes challenging to get full attention for a long time, but I find it so much pleasure when I work with them and when I can draw attention from them. Music is a universal language. Anyone can play and enjoy if a teacher can use the students' strengths wisely. I am glad this video was helpful and I hope your son keeps enjoying the violin!! Thanks again for the comment. :D

Thank you so much Jinny your video I am desperately searching for. You are very informative, please explain how the arm goes please, why so hard to go up bow & down down on G string & high position, I can't get consistent sound 😭, and my bow doesn't slid smoothly like something stuck, sticky to move ?? I appreciate if you point me to the right path thanks
