Having watched this video, I now understand the woking of a shaded pole motor. Good job. Thanks. Btw, the inventor of it was a genius- it’s so simple and so elegant.
Excellent explanation, if not the best so far on youtube. If you are buying an appliance with this kind of motor in it, understand you are buying a cheap piece of crap if it's purpose is anything other than spinning a space heater fan. These are 15% efficient typically. In a heater... this can pass as the motor's excessive waste heat simply contributes to the purpose of the device. But on anything else not intended to heat... garbage. Go with a higher end fan or appliance that uses the PSC motor (permanent split capacitor). Much quieter and significantly more efficient.
Good description, however, I usually see the flux lines pointing in the opposite direction (like in a magnet - lines exit the N pole loop outside the field, come into the S pole, & move from S to N within the magnet).
Please explain how a current is induced into the rotor. Why are the laminations stacked in such a way that the laminations form trapezoidal poles in the rotor.
wow this means the shaded pole motor is also an ac induction motor but made super simple without the need to use any form of running or start capacitor?
Roddy Mc Namee thanks for the info roddy, what about you tube videos seen running two of such motors self looping and running a load on top of it..you think its possible? the video shows a small capacitor in parallel to one of the self looping shaded motors..
+shawn hill If you remove the shading poles it's no longer a shaded pole motor, but instead becomes a 3 phase ac motor. You'll just need to supply 3 phase supply to the motor.
+Bobby Sri by flux he means magnetic flux = lines of force from the magnet ... flux is a greek word meaning 'flow' you can see the direction of magnetic lines of force indicated by the arrowheads on the lines :)
Most comprehensive explanation of this I've seen so far. Thanks!
Unbelievable... No technical book, video or resource I have seen have even came close to describing this as good as you. Hats off to you, my friend!

Best explanation of a shaded pole motor I've found so far! Thank you!!
Honestly, the best explanations available for motors. Much better than my prof. Thank you so much.
By far the best video i've seen on the shaded pole motor yet. Thanks!
My wife is Irish 🇮🇪🍀, thanks this video🥹.

Thanks for explaining for free what my lecturer couldn't for his wage.
Very good explanation thanks
Loved this explanation. Other videos have been useless
I have stared at this motor for 2 weeks and just now understand how the hell it works!
glad to hear it
nice explaination Sir and Thanks a lot
Thank you Roddy; Excellent explanations and video.
awsome explanation! much obliged!
Great vid, man! Makes complete sense when one sees it explained.
Good video! Thanks for your time and interest!
very well explained
amazing job. thank you
Very good explanation, keep the good work.
Nice. Nobody ever explained this to me even in school as an EE. Sigh. Well done
superbb explanation
Great.I have understood this finally here. It was talent work.
Great explanation. Thank you
Nice explanation.... Thank you sir..
Very good explanation.
Thank you 🌸

I love big shaded poles!!
If I understood everything right, then the induced current has compared to the current in the winding a phase shift of 180 degrees.
Just what i was looking for, thanks. :)
really very useful work.
Very good other than week audio.
Great explanation ...Thanks ...
Thanks a lot, made it really clear!
What is winding wire guage in SWG for 6 in exhaust fan
Very well described
excellent job!!..... thanks a lot
good approach...
thank you

Yes
good video man....
brilliant bro
do you have the formulas to desing one shaded pole motor??? please !!!
wow this means the shaded pole motor is also an ac induction motor but made super simple without the need to use any form of running or start capacitor?
Yes. That's exactly it.
Roddy Mc Namee thanks for the info roddy, what about you tube videos seen running two of such motors self looping and running a load on top of it..you think its possible? the video shows a small capacitor in parallel to one of the self looping shaded motors..
Why some coils in the shaded pole induction motor have a kind of 'protection' tape while others are 'exposed' ???
I think it depends on the voltage applied to the coil, if it is fairly high, it is wrapped to prevent touching bare live wire
thank you sir
How would a 6 pole shaded pole motor operate if the shading coils were removed without damaging the windings?
+shawn hill If you remove the shading poles it's no longer a shaded pole motor, but instead becomes a 3 phase ac motor. You'll just need to supply 3 phase supply to the motor.
Excellente!
cheers brother
I could never work out why a shaded motor could not be electrically reversed. It’s so simple now.
ty.
Too bad you did not show what happens in the rotor, where the eddy currents flow and why.
thanks sir
Awesome
at 1:38, what do you mean by the flux?
+Bobby Sri by flux he means magnetic flux = lines of force from the magnet ... flux is a greek word meaning 'flow' you can see the direction of magnetic lines of force indicated by the arrowheads on the lines :)
Sir, there is no chance that current gets induced. Maybe voltage is the right word. As the voltage gets induced the current may flow....
Eddy currents
But why
