  • For most of my fleece garments I do the construction seam with the triple stretch stitch thats the two steps forward one step back stitch. This gives a stronger seam than a regular straight stitch which is needed for hoodie jacket they are put on and taken off a lot.
With my hoodie jackets, my patterns are self made and usually have ½ seam allowance. After I sew the seam, I go back and trim with pinking shears to about ⅛ of an inch or so. Then I open the seam and on the wrong side I finger press open the seam and rough up the seam a bit. And them finger press flat. If I want it a bit flatter I use a tool, anything laying around and go over it a few times to flatten.
Next go the the front or right side and finger press the seam, to help set the stitch.
And this is my basic seam for quick hoodie jackets.
If I am making a better jacket, I them go over that seam with decorative stitch. Usually one of the honeycomb stitches. This gives a kinda of a reverse cover stitch look and also captures all of the seam allowances on the wrong side.
