This video is simply impressive. You got EVERY possible angle and aspect of this derecho covered. You got camera footage before the storm’s approach, footage showing the shelf cloud and green sky approaching, driving into the derecho, video of what it looked like from a fixed standpoint during the storm, and said footage even included the activation of the tornado sirens. I was able to catch some video and pictures of the shelf cloud and green sky near Atkinson, Illinois, and driving into it on I-80. I don’t know if it was the 1080p video quality, but my footage does not show the intensity of the precipitation and winds like yours does.

That lovely siren ambience with the rain. What great shots and edits! Thank you for sharing, there really is something about the experience of these things. Very glad it didn’t begin CI further west of Des Moines.

@@Religious_man CI being "convective initiation", meaning I'm glad the storms didn't fire up further west or it would've likely been even stronger by the time it got here. Check out the radar loop and what happened from the Quad Cities to Chicago!

We got lucky down here in Ottumwa. I ended up sounding one of my miniature sirens for this storm.

So soon after August 10, 2020?! NOT AGAIN!! I'd thought that most of the big handsome "legacy" trees were mostly taken out, 4 years ago, but there somehow remains a respectable number of these lovely trees, even in spite of this latest "blow".

@@swithinbarclay4797 thank goodness for that though! That and this particular storm wasn’t as bad in the way of tree damage. It was mostly just downed tree limbs with sporadic structure damage

Not a thing about tornadoes in your list because they were "radar detected." So what? Anyone can program a robot to say anything. WHERE WERE THE EDUCATED, PROFESSIONAL, CERTIFIED, OLD SCHOOL STORM SPOTTERS? Anyway, good video. Tree damage is nasty.
