Thanks mate, I just love bikes. I can't make them or race them but I can try to honour the guys that do by making the best videos I can. Always good to know people are watching them, enjoying them and marveling at these incredible machines with me!
dear gizmag. you guys make the most interesting and information AND humourous bike reviews. with top notch audio too boot! (unlike 99% of the reviews on the tube)
I still so much adore that review. It is the best S1000 review that I know. I personally do love the asymmetry and I do prefer this looking over the new ones but that is point of view.
Thanks for the epic review. Ended up picking up my 2013 S1000RR a few weeks ago and this review was a big factor. You guys need to start making more bike reviews!
Man.... ! I almost never comment on RUclips video(probably done it 2 times in my life), but this time I had too... I've never seen such professional, funny, informative, intelligent and classy review of... any product! Really! And I have seen A LOT of motorbikes reviews and others, but this one is my favorite right now. I love professionalism and passion. And I have found it here. Definitely subscribed. Keep the good work! (I'm not BMW bikes fan, I own Kawasaki, but it doesn't matter of course:)
Excellent review Mate!!! can watch over and over again, beautifully captured, great commentary and pretty funny...keep up the good work. us bikers need more good motorcycle channels. bring on more reviews, comaparos...cheers!!
you're welcome. i sought the advice of my older brother (who has 40+ years of riding experience) before i bought the rocket. he said pretty much the same thing i said to you. obviously i'm still alive. i STILL haven't pushed my triumph to it's limit, and probably never will. the ninja 250 is a good starter bike. it's quick enough to be exciting, but it isn't over the top like a hayabusa 14. congrats on your sensible decision and keep the shiny side up!
haven't logged in just to write a comment in a long time now, but I just HAD to for this AMAZING review. oh and that close call @7:21 left me grabbing my seat. Much respect!
Please tell us that you are going to host a Motorbike review show and get paid to do so - your reviews are amazingly accessable and informative - please do more!
I lust after the S1000RR but I am also on a Ninja 250 and love it! I've had it for 3 years and while it's not fast it gets 55mpg and is still super fun! Its version of "wheelie control" is only having 33hp. :)
yeah man, very nice. we have a bar here in christchurch, new zealand that opens up a pretty decent workshop every thursday for all to jump in for a beer and a yarn about bikes. sometimes some work even gets done. good stuff, glad there are at least resurgences here and there
I bought mine a year ago...second hand. After a nine year absence from riding due to an accident. I rode nearly everything else on the market trying to choose a new bike. What sold it for me, is the electronics package on this bike. It's confidence inspiring...however be warned when the revs are over 10000 your arms will get ripped out of their sockets. Try and find a good second hand one (they are rev limited during the break in period).
G'Day Guys. This is the best motorcycle review I've seen on RUclips; intelligent, informative and oft humorous. Well done! Just been out to the garage to lube my RR's chain but it's so wet and cold here in Yorkshire that I won't be riding today. Guess I'll subscribe and watch some more of your videos! You're bl**dy lucky to live in WA... Regards, Si.
When I was 18 I bought my first bike, a Yamaha R6 with only a 2 day class worth of experience. Two months later I got sold it and got an R1. I think 600s are somewhat manageable as a first bike, if you are smart and VERY careful and have some self control. I'm so glad I didn't start on a 1000, I'm sure I would be dead/seriously injured.
thanks for the reply bro, I appreciate your thoughts. Took the safe route and got a ninja 250r last month and it is a great bike that can still get speed in my thoughts for a first bike.
Great review, i'm basically sold when i want to upgrade! Be safe on the roads mate, it's always those dam 4by4s you have to watch out for! nearly got me like that once too! i was just lucky there was another lane i could pull into
great review, i really want to know how its like to live with. now i have a good idea of how the bike actually rides like. i feel like i test rode it. -thanks!
Ive just got back into biking after a 5 year lay off and was nearly tempted by a used version of this but opted for a zx6 instead. More than enough for me at the moment.
This is still the best bang for your buck. I had a 2010 when they first came out and then I got a 2014 which I will never give up. I was supposed to sell this bike when I bought my 2018 ninja H2. But I have to admit I like riding my S1000rr a little bit more then the ninja. This is the one bike I can’t let go. I definitely won’t be parting with my S1000rr ever. Something about this bike. I feel incredibly safe and comfortable riding this bike. This bike is completely the opposite to every other bike. Especially my ninja H2 which is really uncomfortable to ride long distance. I should have waited for the H2 SX which looks a lot more comfortable vs the regular H2 but I ordered my H2 before knowing about the H2 SX/SE bike. Either way this s1000rr is the best bike I’ve ever owned/ridden since getting my license in 1991.
My honest opinion, this bike is amazingand unique, the fact that sooo few people buy it make it as rare to see on the street as a lamborghini. Im 17, and i hope one day i can have the option to buy that thing.
you're absolutely right. one of my coaches when i took the MSF basic ridercourse was a lady who stood all of 5' 0" and weighed, MAYBE, 96# fully dressed and soaking wet. SHE rode a HD electra glide ultra with ALL the bells and whistles - well over 900#. she had four of us guys lay it down gently for her. then she backed up to it, squatted down, grabbed the seat and a handlebar, and pushed that puppy right back up on two wheels using her legs. you don't need to dead-lift it., just pushing it
Super video, and I applaud you for avoiding that pickup driver! It's ten times worse when the missus is on the back! One thing I strongly disagree with, though, is the issue of BMW using Torx bolts. It may just be because they are more popular as an industry standard in Scandinavia, but I wouldn't want to use anything else myself. Top notch review! Normally my attention can't be held for more than 2 minutes at a time, (curse you internet for corrupting me), but this had me glued to the screen!
I rode one of these into space once and where normally a bike would stall out due to the lack of atmosphere this baby kept right on humming along, in fact I rode it all the way to the Sun's surface before it failed on me. I hooked up with a space mechanic who got me up and going again. Re-entry to Earth was a bit dicey but the bike held up well.
To answer the question about the asymmetrical look of the BMW. The one light is for day time running use and the other is high beam. Bikes only run one light during the day, however BMW made the one larger to increase the effective range of the high beam without blinding on coming traffic. Each side is different due to the heat from the engine is different and one side requires more cooling air than the other. Form following Function created the fastest 1000 out of the box.
You took that near miss shockingly well, laughing it off like that. It's admirable, I don't condone road rage but I know I would've been out for blood.
WOW, I have had 2 incidents where cars have cleaned me up, I actually flinched when I seen the hilux near clean you guys up!!. Nice review, I like your humour, right amount of fun vs tech info. I'd love to know more thoughts on living with this bike from a day to day basis. Not all of us can afford 5 bikes to allow the beemer to sit in the shed til Friday arvo, so it would be nice to know if this can easily be an all rounder.... cant decide between this or the Aprilia Tuono V4R.
I pretty much bought one two weeks ago just on the strength of this video review. You bastards! Do you know how much that has cost me? Worth every bloody penny though, so thank you several million times. I nipped over to BMW Tonbridge Wells, test rode one, signed up on the spot. A week later, a full spec S1000 RR Sports is mine. An excellent machine, best I've ridden ever, this sets a new bar.
My second favorite bike was the Ducati Multistrada....Only down point was the Air intake design at the front but this bike is great to ride. Better for touring though.
I have the 2011 model. It wouldn't start. All the lights were on but no start. Turns out something in the starter switch block assembly breaks. It was fixed at the shop within a few minutes by fitting a new switch block. The fault apparently only affects the 2011 model. Other than that it's a sensational bike !
I totally agree, I'm 18 and i've seen 3 or 4 in my lifetime on the road. The rest were in a showroom. Amazing, though i'm not sure i want one for the simple fact that i'd never go to the track and so no where near its full potential wouldn't be reached, probably get a ducati diavel.
I agree totally, and I'm also in agreement that the longer you own the bike, the more appealing these very unique headlights are. I personally suspect BMW made them this way to scream out "this isn't a Japanese superbike," or something similar. Best bike I've ever owned, hands down.
best motorcycle reviewer on the web....im in the market for a 1000cc bike..... i have narrowed it down to 2 this and the R1.... is the bmw worth the ext a money?
LOL @ Old Geezer BMW riders (Super Grandpa!) and the bit about Daniel Craig's Bond: "...the BMW's engine is a little bit like Daniel Craig's James Bond: Its manners are impeccable. Its manner silky smooth. It dresses sharp and it appreciates fine art. You'd never guess what grim methodical viloence it's capable of." Thanks for the great review. Want. (from a K1200GT rider)
This was a fantastic review. I wish all motorcycle reviews were this thorough, well shot and well narrated.
Who are you man...? This video extremely well put together. A professional video maker? Such a pleasure to watch!
Thanks mate, I just love bikes. I can't make them or race them but I can try to honour the guys that do by making the best videos I can. Always good to know people are watching them, enjoying them and marveling at these incredible machines with me!
Still in 2022 this is one of the best and SAFEST motorcycles I ever owned
So far, the best S1000rr review ever posted. Seriously, awesome man!
dear gizmag. you guys make the most interesting and information AND humourous bike reviews. with top notch audio too boot! (unlike 99% of the reviews on the tube)
This is by far the best review I have seen during the last year; I'm watching it again and again...
Awesome review man. Keep it up
This is without doubt the best road test of any bike I have ever seen, thanks from Calgary Canada mate
love the music when you first show the S 1000RR, and the HD video of the bike is amazing its like a movie. awesome bike, I will be buying one soon.
Excellent review! Better review than anything you see on TV these days
This was probably the best motorcycle review I've watched out of the probably 100 or so total. Very well done sir.
Honestly the best vehicle review i ever came across. So professionally done
You guys do the best reviews... Congratulations!! Do more please!!!
Come on gizmag, start reviewing bikes regularly. Your reviews are better than anyone else by far.
BMW has some addiction to asymmetrical designs. Makes its bikes look very unique. Love it
been riding for four years now looking for an upgrade and these things have me pegged for a winner thanks for the vid mate :)
I still so much adore that review. It is the best S1000 review that I know. I personally do love the asymmetry and I do prefer this looking over the new ones but that is point of view.
Extremely good review, infact I think this is the best bike review I have ever seen.
Fantastic review from a guy in the U.K that's never had the pleasure of riding a motorcycle
I've watched a few of your reviews and they are BRILLIANT! Great bike reviews for bikers! Well done sir! =D
wow you guys make amazing motorcycle reviews... they completely blow everyone else out of the water. please make more!
Damn how close....u can celebrate your second Birthday that day!
Great review Gizmag, it was a pleasure to watch. great information, great attitude. thx
Thanks for the epic review. Ended up picking up my 2013 S1000RR a few weeks ago and this review was a big factor.

"Close" can't even describe that. WOW
nice video, well presented and edited. Still remains the ultimate bike
Almost opposite of Ducati, which is beauty first. This bike is flawless until it comes to the looks. Great Review from Down under.
i love this bike! im 14 and i cant wait untill im old enough to get it!
This is actually a really good review. Would love to see a 2013 s1000rr review of this quality.
Excellent review Mate!!! can watch over and over again, beautifully captured, great commentary and pretty funny...keep up the good work. us bikers need more good motorcycle channels. bring on more reviews, comaparos...cheers!!
the best review I´ve seen of a bike
Yet another excellent review from my new favorite source for motorcycle reviews!
Keep up the great work!
The best review I've seen in recent times; not to mention your funny way of presenting it ! It was very nice. :)
you're welcome. i sought the advice of my older brother (who has 40+ years of riding experience) before i bought the rocket. he said pretty much the same thing i said to you. obviously i'm still alive. i STILL haven't pushed my triumph to it's limit, and probably never will.

Love your motorcycle vide reviews, one of the best on the internet!
this is the best review I've ever seen!! and I've seen tons of them
Please tell us that you are going to host a Motorbike review show and get paid to do so - your reviews are amazingly accessable and informative - please do more!
was waiting for this a long time. the best youtube video review!
I really like the looks of the bike. The most important thing however are the electronics that make this bike shine. I will get one one day.
I lust after the S1000RR but I am also on a Ninja 250 and love it! I've had it for 3 years and while it's not fast it gets 55mpg and is still super fun! Its version of "wheelie control" is only having 33hp. :)
Wonderful bike. Wonderful Review. Both should set the standard.

This is the only review where I have not had to make myself watch it.. Very well put together buddy =)
impeccably done bike review. Mighty excellent.
Rode the 2013 version. The throttle is more a warp speed controller than an throttle. Amazing engine. Amazing bike.
G'Day Guys. This is the best motorcycle review I've seen on RUclips; intelligent, informative and oft humorous. Well done! thanks for the reply bro, I appreciate your thoughts. Took the safe route and got a ninja 250r last month and it is a great bike that can still get speed in my thoughts for a first bike.
very good review
I like the assymetrical design. I think the bike looks great, and bravo to BMW for such a bold design.
Another awesome vbike review. Appreciate all the work you put in to your videos keep them coming
Everything in this review is true of my '11. Spot on review mate. Easily the best bike I've ever owned.
Excellent review, one of the best i've seen on youtube of any bike. Nice one!
Great review, i'm basically sold when i want to upgrade! Be safe on the roads mate, it's always those dam 4by4s you have to watch out for! nearly got me like that once too! i was just lucky there was another lane i could pull into

i feel like i test rode it.

Hardly.
Shit happens all the time.

Ive just got back into biking after a 5 year lay off and was nearly tempted by a used version of this but opted for a zx6 instead. More than enough for me at the moment.
best s1000rr review dude!
Great real world review .... Close call to say the least glad it didn't end in tears. Thanks f
Love the look of this one but think it might just be a little more than I need . . . Great review!! . . .

6 japanesse or italian fanatics dislike. The video is very explicit. Really liked it and yeah, you just made me a bmw fan :D
Amazing. What a machine!
Great video, i think it looks beautiful, but what is fast and quick always makes me like it haha

Haha I was wondering where that clip of the close call came from. Nice video!
Tbh, Best review of a anything i've ever seen, Love it!
You even made me want this bike, might have to change plans when i get older xD
I sat on one today in the BMW showroom.. Size wise, it didnt feel a million miles away from my GSXR600... im so tempted to buy one...
You guys kick ass with your bike reviews
Makes the bike sites look very amateurish
Well done and give us more

That Toyota drivers license should be revoked
@gizmag. Top Review. I hope there is more.
This is how all motorcycle reviews should be done. MCR, take note.
Damn close call

Ive got a 2003 Honda Blackbird , totally standard , an amazing bike with only 11,000 miles on the clock, but seeing this mmmm i want one
I love the subtle switch to the German accent for that one second :D
Fantastic job man!
Excellent review
I Love the design !!! I think the bike is awesome !!
G8 fun review and you have an amazing voice, please do a review on the mt10 your love it
