  • Fishing the River Severn for the 2nd session of the season 2024🎣. Still targeting Barbel & Chub but the river looked very iffy and weather was cold and blustery. So with few indications on the rods and a surprise fish at the end😢it persuaded me to pack up early😠😡and drive the 60+ miles home.

The Severn doesn't appear to be 'right' but I persist until I avoid the blank 🤷‍♂. Watch until the end to see what I catch 😉.

Bad luck with the Barbel and Chub Nick. Had a few Pike myself on "wobbled spam" and "sink and draw pellets" LOL. I hope things improve for you ;-)

Yes Rob, likewise I've caught Pike on Spam before now and had a reputation for being a 'Pike Whisperer' due to the numerous incidents of being plagued by Pike when fishing for 'Silvers' on maggot feeder😂. Anyway the Barbel & Chub will return no doubt and I'm off to the Teme next week for my annual pilgrimage for a week's Barbel & Chub fishing - hopefully 🤞have some footage to show for my efforts although last year was my worst ever experience on there 🙁. Thanks for watching and your supportive comment 👍.

The Severn is fishing very poorly at the moment. Pike on the pellet.... different 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kenny, I've heard a couple of other reports about the Severn not fishing well and being 'polluted' - Robs Angling Blog reported an incident at Cressage and my friend said he experienced a similar issue as I did but only more so with what appeared to be 'faeces' or similar effluent and discolouration of the water course. Perhaps the fishing is suffering from these unverified reports? 😤. Anyway thanks for taking the trouble to view and comment 👍.

@@nickpricefishing I know Rob well. I did see his film, and the pollution was awful.
With that being upstream of where I fish (Buildwas), I'm sure it's had an impact.
Troubling times for us river anglers.

@@kennypartridge1853 Kenny I've fished Buildwas as a Guest Club, through Leighton and my immediate thoughts on seeing Rob's video was the stretches downstream (including Ironbridge) are going to be affected, although I did hear 93lb won a match on the Buildwas stretch recently? Anyway disgusting alleged action by Severn & Trent Water in my opinion 🤬.

@nickpricefishing well, I fish downstream of buildwas bridge (TAA water) and it's definitely had an effect on the Barbel and Chub after it happened. I'm hoping by now it's flushed through.
With the area from Shrewsbury down through the Ironbridge area recently getting "swimming water status", the sewage discharges will have to cease.
