After climbing 36 mountains on two continents, I cannot possibly express how important these "gimmicks" were to my safety and success. The altimeter functioned flawlessly even three and a half miles high, the crystal worked perfectly in sub-zero temperatures while soaking wet, the compass kept us on course in mountain ranges from California to Africa, and the watch functioned with extraordinary durability for over a decade with nothing more than battery changes. When the lower digital display finally malfunctioned after more than 11 years of service, Tissot replaced the entire digital movement, face, display, hands, control buttons and crystal for only $200. I just picked up what is essentially a new watch this afternoon. I have worn my Tissot T touch all over the world, in every imaginable environment, and have come to rely on those "gimmicks" on mountaintops, deserts, sandstorms and on the high seas, in temperatures from below-freezing to more than 100° Fahrenheit. It is without question the finest timepiece I have ever owned... and my judgment was made after 11 years of daily wear, not 7 days. Get pinned down on a mountain top in a blizzard at 15000 feet and then tell me how useless the barometer, altimeter and compass gimmicks are.

Great watches. Neither overpriced, nor overrated as far as I’m concerned. Best watch I’ve ever owned. Had it more than 10 years with no problems. Tough as nails and keeps near perfect time. Never been serviced. My son has had the same experience with his. Both bought at the same time. Probably just not the watch for you, but why be so disrespectful? Lack of respect is one of our biggest societal problems these days. It’s sad how far we’ve fallen.
Who I'm I being disrespectful too? It is sad that we can't have our own opinion which is the biggest societal problems these days. Have you never had a battery change in 10 years? What other watches have you owned?
I have been wearing my T-Touch now for 13 years and it's the best watch i ever had. I like the touchscreen and it is NOT impractical! The bracelet is also very comfortable. If your bracelet is uncomfortable, why don't you adjust it? If you love cheap plastic watches... go ahead and wear them :-)
@Jakob Soerensen You had this watch since 2003, and its the best watch ever.. period. So much so that you have to watch a video about it and not just look at the watch that you own. Amazing compared to the competion ie the apple watch?
@Noctrino How do you get to use the impractical touchscreen when it wet? How would you ajust the hardness for the strap to make it less uncomfortable? I have a Breitling B1 so that would make this the cheap plastic watch. If you love cheap plastic watches... go ahead and wear them :-) and just like Jakob Soerensen watch video about the watch you own.
@@TheNomadsLens I simply don't need to use it under water. The touch functions make no sense (to me), when you are swimming^^. Why in the world shoult i use any of the touch-function in water? Out of the water: Dry it and use it. I use the watch in the classical way - for time - not for constantly touching around on every opportunity. About the strap: As i already said, my T-Touch is very comfortable, so i never had to adjust it in all the years. I love watching videos about things i own :D And... have fun with your Breitling. It's also a really cool watch!
@Noctrino Why is it 100m water resistant if don’t use it in water? Oh yes the touch screen is a gimmick. What happens when you’re in the rain and want to use the gimmicky screen? If you don’t use it for what it for then why did you buy it? You got scammed by the gimmick?
I collect watches and your statement is very childish, I have been wearing them during boating and otherwise compass and temperature i have been using all the time and its great
If you own this watch why seach for videos about the watch thats on your wrist? Sounds like you know its junk and you're looking for reassurance. You don’t like me? That’s a shame. I’ll pencil in some time to cry about it later . Right now, I’m busy enjoying my life, I'm not looking for reassurance.
@@TheNomadsLens . Nothing wrong with the watch. People can buy what they want with their money. I look for videos to see how things work and others opinions. I don’t need any reassurance from a fool like you.
Right watch wrong owner. My only gripe is that this watch is much heavier than the early Mk1 version but has additional features 2 time zones, backlight, 2 alarms & power saving mode and Tissot will no longer change the battery or carry out any service due to issues with water tightness, but will exchange early watches for the latest version at a cost of a full service £155 at present time.
I've never owned this watch, but I've handled a titanium version with titanium bracelet that my friend have. I agree that to some extent, it's a gimmick. But it wears much better than a gshock, protrek, sunnto, or other similar watch to this. I'd rather have this than a gshock, protrek or sunnto If I have to buy a multifunction watch.
I always appreciate a Tissot video, but I have to help you with your issue around it calling itself a Smart Watch as a "gimmick". It came out before the smart watch ever existed. It gave itself a name that didn't exist.
I own 2: blue and silver dial. I bid on each on eBay. Love them both as my every day watch. If you don't like yours, then put it on eBay. I'll pick it up for around $100. If you look real hard, this watch is a bargain.
Did you watch the whole video or did you just get triggered early on? If you own 2 already why do you need to watch videos about a watch they you already have? can't you just look on your wrist? Sounds to me you're looking for validation. If you like it then great, I don't which I have the right to say unless you're saying I must only agree with what you like and not have my own opinion.
I watched to learn about a different version/design and was fishing to find out if you dislike the watch as much as you say, then why not sell it to me as I am a collector and would like an updated version and face color. Make me an offer to counter with cash if you really dislike the watch. This is why they make vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
Whats the differences with this and yours? you said its the same only the color is different. Did you watch the whole video? Clearly you didn't or you would know why I wouldn't sell it. Keep looking for looking for validation from others if you wish.
@@TheNomadsLens Gees aren't we defensive today. I watch videos of watches I own all the time. If anything, to see how other people experience them and to enjoy the discussion. Case in point, this watch. If you hate it so much, sell it. I think the problem here is that you "don't see the point". The watch is not for you. You never should've bought it. To your "validation" point, maybe by making this video, you yourself are looking to have your decision validated. Just flip the thing and be done with it.
@@TheLoxionKasie No I'm not defensive today I'm defensive everyday. You're saying "If you hate it so much, sell it" and "I should have bought the watch" did you watch the video? If you had you wouldn't say that. What you want is people to say only nice things about the watch that would be validation. Which part of my video was wrong? Lets see you video on how good the watch is.
I got a first-generation Tissot T-Touch in early 2000, later I bought a T-Touch II, but after a couple of months, I sold it. It was too bulky and uncomfortable I have gone back to my first generation and it is working fine even today.
This is the watch I lusted over as a young teen. Saw it in used condition in a shop the other day, but bought a screwback G-shock instead because it just felt so much more badass. If I was a collector, this Tissot would 100% be part of my collection, but I'm not a collector.
Which point did I miss or are you just Blah blah blah? This watch and Suunto are ABC watches so whats wrong with comparing. Sounds like your just a cry baby who has not videos.
I think they are good value on the secondary market. They are not bad watches and my one has lasted a good 15 years. Purchased new in Geneva when they came out.
The next thing you know they will have a watch that links to your phone and checks your heart rate and tells you how many steps you should take each day 🤣
I have been wearing T Touch for the last 10 years. I have changed to titanium bracelet . Recently sent for repair due vapor presence in the watch . Now it is good as new and dealer gave me 2 year warranty with new Tissot box
Buying a watch is like buying a car for yourself. You need to understand and know the requirements of your life and what functions you need. I never owned a T-Touch myself but another Tissot. (Was working as a waiter on cruise ships and and decided to go a Titanium chrono instead). What is important to note here that these watches came out in 1999. Pre-Apple Watch era. These were the first multifunctional tool-watches with printed circuit-boards in that time and functions that were very new at that time. I backpacked close to 10 years in South-East Asia. These would help you tremendously on the road.
I adore my T-Touch Expert II Titanium and I have just ordered the T-Touch Connect Solar. I think the one shown in the video is still beautiful after all this time. I don't think T-Touch watches are overpriced. I am sure the margin on them is substantial but that is true throughout the watch industry. The T-Touch is pretty unique, with some smartwatch functions but also real hands and not a screen that goes blank after a few seconds to save energy, so I am sure Tissot could charge more and still sell it. I picked the T-Touch Connect Solar vs the lovely Tag Heuer Connected because I won't need to take a charger on my travels and while the Tag Heuer has gorgeous pixel watch faces, it still goes blank like all smartwatches do when not being used. I can't comment on the criticism of the rubber strap because I have never tried it, but the titanium strap of my Expert II is supremely comfortable and I expect the same from the Connect Solar.

Great feel free to post link to your video. I'm interested to knowyou just bought second watch then why would you want to watch a video about a watch that you own and have 2? Could you just look down at your wrist? Chris Norman: This channel doesn't have any content. When will your video be up?
I see this as a great watch. All the functions make perfect sense to me and I don’t see it as gimmicky at all, actually seems very useful. I’d love to have one actually. Well made watch.. He said about the temp that it was going up the closer he put his hand and it was reading his body temperature. The closer he put his hand the temperature dropped a bit and he jerked his hand back a bit so he wasn’t proven wrong.. lol! And a smart watch is any watch that does more than what a normal watch would do. Any watch with extra watch functions can be labeled a smart watch..
I sold mine after 3 times having issue with a water inside the watch. Everything started buying very first model and because of problems it was possible to change for 2nd series. Obviously second series didn't improve and impressed me at all. I absolutely agree with your review.

Thanks for your review and for your PSA warning. Not a fan here of Tissot. I bought aTissot perpetual calendar quartz watch a few years ago. Nice looking watch but within 2 months of purchase the movement went nuts and started indicating the wrong day, date, and month. I sent it to Tissot for repair and they replaced the movement at no cost to me. Within six months, it started doing the same thing again. Now it sits in a box, never to be worn again. What a waste of money.
This guy is insecure since he keeps unnecessarily answering to comments that respond to his opinion with reasonable rebuttal to basically what is a bunch of bull faeces. Also you keep saying this isn’t a smart watch but I’d like to see you find a watch like this in 2003. It also still performs functions that are useful and would continually be used by its target audience (in which you aren’t) rather than being an Apple Watch that at some point gets out of date.

You don't have a clue why I don't like this junk watch after watching the video? Are you stupied? Oh wait you owned 2 of these watches guess that says it all.
Your knowledge is so poor. Presure is measured in bars not meters. 10 bars means you can put the watch in a 10bar pressurised enclosure, with any fluid (gas or liquid) and it will not break. Also your nails are just gross.
Then why do you put 100m on the dial and not 10 bars? When I go diving why do they count meters and not bars? Also whats wrong with me nails? Do you own this watch?
Sorry should have watched whole vid. I have a version 1 in all steel. It has the T touch name in green. I love it, but bought it mint hardly used. I agree its overpriced new, as are many many watches.
I have had the T-Touch II Carbon Z 253/353P for over 12 years. Every function is still working spot-on. Want to measure altitude, and then the weather forecast? You got it. Need to find true north and then measure the average temperature of your skin and surrounding air? You've got that too. Gimmicky? Of course. It was a smart watch before their time. It's still smarter than most. Battery changeout is frequent depending on usage - once about every 2 years or so. It does warn you well ahead before going kaput. Changeout is easy enough.
I checked Fedx, UPS, Royal Mail, all ship to your country. Sounds like you're someone who'll appreciates it or you would be happy to spend the money on this gorgeous watch.

I love watching videos about things i own :D
And... have fun with your Breitling.
My only gripe is that this watch is much heavier than the early Mk1 version but has additional features 2 time zones, backlight, 2 alarms & power saving mode and Tissot will no longer change the battery or carry out any service due to issues with water tightness, but will exchange early watches for the latest version at a cost of a full service £155 at present time.
that's right, I sent it to change the battery and they told me it was dead and made that proposal to me ... which I accepted.
Same here. Excellent customer service and an unbeatable bargain for a complete upgrade to a new watch.
@sopwithtv You’re comeback was so stupid it didn’t even comeback that you deleted your other comments? LOL

Bought the first model in titanium in 2006 . No one had anything touch screen back then .. so could imagine the response I got ..

This is not a Smart Watch
I like the temp. Prefer it to countdown timer. I use chrono all the time and if I need countdown I can easily set alarm.
You can pick them up on ebay for $100. You should buy one for nostalgia. They not going to be around for long.
Blah blah blah, your missing the point, and I can’t believe you are comparing a Tissot with a Suunto, sap!.
Which point did I miss or are you just Blah blah blah? This watch and Suunto are ABC watches so whats wrong with comparing. Sounds like your just a cry baby who has not videos.

I wonder how many people bought this watch within a month of seeing Simon Pegg wear it in Rogue Nation.
You obviously dont like it! Sell it.

I got mine, a newer model, in 2013, and I don't think it is a gimmicky watch. It doesn't really matter to you if your watch doesn't have features apparently. I guess technology is always worth it.
I have just bought my second. I am just about to make a review of this reviewer who for some reason thinks his moaning is worth 17.30 minutes of your life.

That is your opinion, that I respect. Mine, the opposed, in each and every fact you relate. Since eighteen years ago, it’s a wonderful watch.
Enjoy your watch when you get it. Interested to see if you like the watch when you own it.
