Imagine how well this would've worked in that era.
+Wouter Beekman that was what i have wondered since the first time i watched pmj's video...
+Wouter Beekman "Starbucks lovers" would have been a little lost on them ;)
+depfro
She doesn't say Starbucks lovers though... She says got a long list of ex lovers.
Wouter Beekman she coulded won a grammy for best song
Rasetsu The actual line is "Star-crossed lovers" but it's a running joke to say it as "Starbucks lovers".
It still boggles my mind how they can change the entire feel of any song.
I literally i feel like im at a cabaret show and I cant get enough
Craze961 shows how pop beat is shit
Inverted V12 Powerhouse thank you! you’re right now a days music so damn awful
I agree with you completely
The bassist at the end. Someone give this man a raise.
You beat me to this comment XD
jajajajajajaja volvi a verla y prestar atencion en el bajista.
I paid attention because of your comment. Yup, he stole the song.
If they just stop putting him next to the flaming saxophone I guess hew will be already happy enough lol
I won't lie, when I first saw Ariana Savalas's name I thought, "Oh, like Telly Savalas. I'm sure it's just a coincidence." But it turns out she actually is Telly's daughter. I'm sure Telly would be proud of his daughter's accomplishments as a singer. :)
I somehow have my doubts as to 'daughter'... one of the original Desperate Housewives Sheridan (the one who was fired for hitting the prod/director over the head) IS Telly's daughter.... this gal - is significantly younger.... and Telly's been dead awhile
Telly died in 94 and Ariana was born in 87. He had two children with his final wife. Yes, she is his daughter. You know how I found out? Wikipedia and a video featuring Ariana on X-Factor Greece.
johnhamilton08 Who loves ya, baby?!
Juan Heath
'Crocker!! Sapperstein... geddinhere!
Telly Savalas was so famous in Greece that they had Kojak lollipops (late 70's early 80's)
This just proves that Taylor Swift is a good songwriter, and that the pop beats she use doesn't do her writing any justice.
This song is probably her best lyrical output... ever. It's really well written, with mostly tight rhymes, and clever, smart metaphors ("rose garden, filled with thorns," as well as "Who is she? I get drunk on jealousy...," along with, "cause you know I love the players, and you love the game"). If the actual _music_ for Blank Space wasn't terrible (which it is, unfortunately), it'd rightfully be a classic. Hell, Swift's own performance on it isn't that bad, it's just that awful, sterile, electronic beat.
what are you taking about? Taylor's pop beats helped accent how crazy/intense her personal and situation was. It was perfect for the lyrics.
this tune clashes with the lyrics, much like the how their "anaconda" tune clashed with the original lyrics.
this song sound all formal and late night bar performance now. the singer now means like an elegant lady instead of a sociopath. How does this rendition help highlight the lyrics?
Neo Gazer Eh, I wouldn't say it clashes now. Instead of the cold psychopath the original sterile, electronic beat projected, now it's more of a rich, fashionable, elegant bitch. Less Norman Bates, more Anna Wintour.
Rip Steakface Listen to 'All too well'. "You call me up to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest." Is so honest and heart wrenching but poetic.
Neo Gazer I think I prefer this arrangement, but you've got a point. I'm sure psycho can be done at this tempo, but Ariana didn't pull it off. Perhaps she doesn't have personal experience to pull from, or wasn't going for the psycho angle.
The phrasing of this arrangement adds some sense to the lyrics IMO, though it could use some vocal and performance intensity. Perhaps her live version has that.
I love how it just seem so _effortless_. PMJ takes a toplist pop song, casually makes it 1000% better, and just for fun throw in some dancers, a burning saxophone, or tambourine guy. I'm sure they work hard, I'm sure they rehearse 50 times before the shoot, but it it _seems_ like super-pro's just having a bit of fun!
Leif Leifnephew "Oh what music do you listen to?"
"Just a band with a guy who plays a burning saxophone, everyone's favorite tambourine man, and plenty of dancing."
I saw her live yesterday in Breda, this video does NOT do her justice. Holy shit. She's an amazing entertainer.
I am SO jealous. they won't be in Houston until May
I was just thinking the same thing. She really is fabulous on stage. Born entertainer.
Kelby316 They don't come to Chicago until June, but I still cannot wait. They are simply a fantastic group. I don't normally say this, but they are one of the best of this generation. True artists, they respect music, they respect their fans, they respect the originality of both their cover and the original piece. I just adore PMJ!
Doesn't do her justice? I thought she was brilliant in the video, so she must be really amazing in real life. :D
Fyralynn THIS IS STILL SO AMAZING ! how does this not do her justice as its not set in this era well nicki minaj dosnt to the 1920s any justice!
I'm convinced you guys are from an alternate 1920s - 1940s past, and you actually WROTE those songs and you somehow traveled to THIS universe to show us how the songs ORIGINALLY went!!!
Have you ever thought about doing a movie? I could write it for you guys!!!
+SheriFam Productions Sounds great!
I knoe right?
All i know is i was a flapper in the 20s
+Vinicio Yepez *know
I'm guessing Earth 2, am I right?
It's been over 7 years and this song still invoke certain unspoken feeling.
feel like this was how it was meant to be sung
scarlet night yess. Let’s have more music like this! 2020
EVERY PMJ cover is "the way it was supposed to be."
naw its called preference
I just felt as if I met Ariana Savalas, fell in love, asked her out, romanced her, had a whirlwind affair, got engaged, had an argument that created a rift between us, grew apart, had a talk at the first restaurant we ate together, cried, spoke, broke up and sat at that bar with a glass with ice and a scotch whiskey bottle, while sobbing silently remembering her beautiful face. That woman is all the sexy in the world. Great talent. Great cover.
Feel the same and im straight woman 😄
Dohel Asencio Then be sure to see her sing Criminal and Pony. She can be a bad bad girl 😈😷
Not me, I would follow her and sarah until they had me arrested.
Well said, friend. Now get in line.....
I love how intensely watchable Ariana is. Her physicalizations are absolutely perfect - punctuating the lyrics without appearing contrived or overdone.
I've hated this song ever since my chorus class played it to death....
This woman made me love it.
This is amazing, seriously this is beautiful.
Nails Rose same. sounds really good in this version
Nails Rose same this version Ohmygosh
but the original is so annoying
Mint Willow The tone that goes into a song makes the difference.
Inverted V12 Powerhouse yeas i think so to. And the pacing and idk this singer seemed to have more passion in the singing and just more heart
@@its_a_poncho Yes!!! I love Taylor but most of her songs can't make me feel what she is feeling, or actually can't make me feel anything. This version made me scream and I even teared up a little! Because it's pure emotion, and I felt like travelling back in time, to a different era (I'm a history major so lol this really made me emotional)
there's something so sad about this cover like the singer wants love but knows it always ends bitterly and has given up
scarlet night ikr but ah man isn't it gorgeous
although this version makes me sadder and heart hurt more XD
also this version is much more sultry and thus her attempts to persuade the guy she's singing to are much more convincing and enticing
I know the feeling, which is why this cover is so amazing. 😢💔
@@KUYAMIN Agreed! Much more seductive. 🥰🥰🥰
Until I heard it in this version, I didn't realize how well written this song is.
She kind of remind me to Cruella De Vil. It would be so cool if she sings the Cruella De Vill song
And
Andre agreeeeed!
shoutout to the bartender chick quietly killin it in the back from the very first second 😂
Thank you for noticing me!
This song's lyrics totally cried out for the glitz, glam, and drama of cabaret style, and I'm glad it finally got it. Awesome!
she gave that song so much "experience" she acted out the lyrics extremely convincing
I'm so glad that I found your RUclips channel. Amazing content. Keep that great work up!
Who's Who in LA Follies (listed by color of feathers):
BLACK: Katelyn Blockinger (the one on the bar)
PURPLE: Melanie Cresson
BLUE: Eileen Crowe Soto
PINK: Musetta Rubin
RED: Kendra Levy
I thought that the black one is looked like Robyn Adele Anderson LoL
jurgostuff I think that the black is more of a greenish color, but, thanks for the info! ^^
@carvianist I want to believe...
I just discovered this channel yesterday and....damn, this is the best thing I ever saw. Keep going guys!!
Cierto! Ellos hacen unos Covers, pero buenos! Hacen que letra simple y sin sentido tenga una melodia y energia extraodinaria!
Conejo Literario ME TOOOOOO💚💚💚💚👆👆
welcome to the club
Experienced just the same thing. So grateful that I clicked the recommendation. Been hooked to their channel ever since 😄
same situation, three years later
Good god, the way she sings and tells the story is just...wow. It just grabs you by your collar and go "you're gonna listen to me and that's it". YES GIRL FUCK IT UP
will you guys ever come to brazil? it would be amazing to watch you live!
+Monique Barreto We would love to to come one day! If you subscribe to our site we'll let you know about future tours! postmodernjukebox.com/
+PostmodernJukebox i wish you would go to philippines!
+andrea borlaza Yes. Great Idea.
Sera quantos fas eles tem no Brasil? Eu os vi em janeiro. Vale muito a pena!
meu sonho
It's nice to hear non-Christmasy music for the first time since the start of the month.
The girl on the bar 😂😂😂
the bass guy at the end
Janelle Buniel why is this funny? :)
Janelle Buniel Katelyn Blockinge
she was sexy at this video
Taylor’s songwriting really fit in in this era
The theatricality of this one is everything I love!! 💛❤️😻
Heaven!
I like it. Vocals are sensual, and the arrangement reminds me of early Bette Midler, particularly The Divine Miss M record. Cabaret by way of 1970s adult contemporary.
The transition at 1:26 nails the vibe!
This is so worth a Grammy, Love the caberet style.
Has Postmodern Jukebox ever won a Grammy? If not, that’s a crime!
This is probably their best performances yet. So powerful and almost sad- it had me on the verge of tears. This is my favorite so far.
Yet another outstanding and jaw-dropping cover that left me playing it on repeat! The quality of your guys' work is never a disappoint and in fact could never be a disappoint, it's just impossible. Your covers are perfection to me and all your upcoming covers I've already deemed brilliant and favorable. I love you guys!
PMJ invokes the feeling that their version is the original hit song, and the original song just a cover of PMJ's version.
Jesus this actually gave me chills - so much better in this style. Ms. Swift, I stand corrected, you do have musical chops!
Stop making me appreciate Taylor Swift's sneakily underrated lyricism!
Ariana transmits everything in every gesture and in every word. She has a unique magnetism that is demonstrated in this performance.
Thanks for this version, it is magnificent.
LOVE her voice
I really have to get ready for work, but I can't stop watching these.
never stop doing these, I want this to be a thing again , vintage covers of songs . much rather hear this on the radio than the originals
Okay, but the bassist at the end completes me.
There are just no words, this is SO good
This is definitely one of my favourite song. Whoever made the arrangement is clearly.. Idk the right words to say.
It's already sound like a different song. And the singer made it like it belongs to her.
And I love the gestures of the dancers when they made the fan shaking behind, reminds me of peacock.
Especially when they're all smiling at the end.
As if some peacocks are there, smiling, proudly admitting their actions and feels no guilty about it.
Amazing.
This video is a whole package.
This is the only way to sing this song.
eykyra yeess!!
This is golden!! SO much better than the original!
I'm pretty sure, they can make any music beautifull
Breonna Van Patten Well it shows how much potential the song has
Breonna Van Patten you took the words out of my mind when I was watching it.
I think it fits the lyrics better.
ur so right man
The short-haired dancer with the light-blue fan, she's a fabulous dancer! And her coquettish smile, perfect to go with the song's lyrics.
That emotion at 1:53 had me repeating that part over and over again... very well done!!
Great to see Ariana again. And my favorite drummer, Allan Mednard. Yay!
Sorry, Ms. Swift, but Ariana owns this one.
..
.
.ø
.
.
. on ,
Michael Mussington i don't think so 😕😕
Michael Mussington She knocked it out of the park, damn
Ariana Savalas not Grande
She owned her own style. But not Taylor's.
The day I saw this live I got chills with her presence. Such a wonderfull performance
Her gestures and facial expressions are so on point. Truly mesmerising....
Ariana Savalas, stellar performance! Your vocals dynamically complimented this song so beautifully! Thank You for this performance.
extreme kudos for that trumpeteer for not getting distracted my those legs
MasterP48HD in the context of this song's cover style i think it would be better if you said "gams" lol
Love how the bassist fans himself at the end along with the ladies. The musicians look like they're always having a good time in these videos.
my fav of PMJ all the time.
The big climax at the end chills me to this day
I love PMJ and Taylor Swift! Such a great cover!! :)
The sultry Ariana Savalas gets a 9.9 for this performance (I don't give perfect scores to humans).
But she's an angel.
I don't think I've ever loved a Taylor Swift song so much. This gives me chills.
I had to listen to the original after hearing this. I couldn't figure out how anyone could record this song differently from this arrangement. The original sounds like a cover. This wreaks elegance. The lyrics match up perfectly with this musical style. Vocalist is a great match for the song.
So beautiful picture, voice, Ariana and music as a whole! Bravo!
The postmodern jukebox is an amazing twist. New to me and Imbued with passion
These are the best shows on RUclips. Ariana Savalas is delightful and the back up is just wonderful.
Ariana Savalas' voice ... oh my, oh my! I can listen to her the whole day.
1:40 so that's what barkeepers do when they are bored :D
I prefer the change in verse order, compared to the original. They diminished the hooks, and made the focus on the verses. Swift would be smart to record a few of these, like this. Incredible cover, absolutely amazing.
I absolutely love the singer's voice! Completely stunning
It gives me the chills just listening her cover of this hit! She own this song that I will be honored to be on that list!
this might be my favorite cover so far
i love the way she singing. It's as if she's telling a story.
I feel like the genres of music this channel covers isn't appreciated enough. The music is beautiful and it's not too repetitive so you can always look forward to a surprise in the music, like a beautiful broken chord from the piano in the second verse that wasn't in the first, or maybe an extra drum part to emphasize the chorus. Its so beautiful
Her voice is really PERFECT for the 50's 80's song!!! I felt like I'm listening to an old old song.. LOVE IT!!!
I knew someone would pick up on the lyrics - perfect for a cabaret!
I feel as if this would be played at a bar in the era they're portraying
One of my favorite covers! The arrangement is graceful, yet has a seductive side, like most PMJ covers do. Love it. Bravo PMJ
That key change gave me chills, the whole ending as a matter of fact
really loved ur performance in Brighton! I think british granny and grandpa loved it too! Come back soon xxx
The camera lets the performers perform. I like that.
I keep listening to this song. Love it so much
Ariana Savalas has a new fan here. Can't stop looking up other stuff she performs. Fantastic! We love ya , baby!
Who would downvote this? It's so amazingly wonderful.
The woman with the purple was doing the equivalent of twerking in a more stylish and cooler way
This has to be one of my favorite covers you have ever done. The way you made it sound just gives so much more feeling and story telling to the song in comparison with the original. Love it.
Im super in love with this video and the singer. its gorgeous and sounds like the time!
A nice, enthralling, restrained vocal. Loved the cover
I can imagine this being in a Christmas movie
No supero lo genial que es este tema. Increible! Hermoso!
Now that I've actually heard the original, I can say that this song is so well put together. I love it!
Let a guy tap dance and no one bats an eye, let some girls do a fan dance routine and everybody loses their minds.
I love this rendition and the performance :)
This is AWESOME! The music the vocals, the fan dancers, everything was great. Well done.
I don't know if you take requests, but if you do, I'd love to see you guys cover "Simply You" by Secret Garden. It seems like it would lend itself well to the neo-noir treatment. Every time I hear it, I imagine a girl in a 1930s nightclub crooning it as a lament to a lost love.
Just a friendly suggestion. Keep up the good work. :)
Look at her! What an interpreter! I would kill to have such a charisma as she does!
NOTE: Scott Bradlee as usual, is again the Most Creative Cat in the Room.
And Ariana Makes Women Beautiful Look Again! CHEERS!
This style fits that song 100 times better.
Phenomenal from start to finish!
Scott makes me wish I'd learned to play the piano. My mom used to play at home on an upright the odd time when I was a kid and I always loved the sound. She wasn't a terrific player but... Genuine thanks for inadvertently bringing back memories of my mom.
Peace.
Omg i heard this back in 2014....loved it and i still do i have so much love for this
Change the speed to 1.25
+TechTubeCentral Sounds amazing!
+TechTubeCentral i like it
+TechTubeCentral Really, really better.. (y)
How do you change the speed of a video?
+Daniela, Duh put your curser on the image, click on the sprocket (settings) select speed and make your choice.
Feel like I'm the only one who likes the original..
Either way, this was amazing! Keep it up PMJ!
I FOUND ONE! I love the song
I am in love with all your arrangements! I can't get enough. It just brings me to high heaven. Please never stop making stuff like this.
Her voice
