[Verse 1]
These ideas are nightmares to white parents
Whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings
Like whatever they say has no bearing, it's so scary in a house that allows
no swearing
To see him walking around with his headphones blaring
Alone in his own zone, cold and he don't care
He's a problem child
And what bothers him all comes out, when he talks about
His fuckin' dad walkin' out
Cause he just hates him so bad that he blocks him out
If he ever saw him again he'd probably knock him out
His thoughts are whacked, he's mad so he's talkin' back
Talkin' black, brainwashed from rock and rap
He sags his pants, do-rags and a stocking cap
His step-father hit him, so he socked him back, and broke his nose
His house is a broken home, there's no control, he just let's his emotions
go...
[Chorus]
{C'mon}, sing with me, {sing}, sing for the years
{Sing it}, sing for the laughter, sing for the tears, {c'mon)
Sing it with me, just for today, maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you
away...
[Verse 2]
Entertainment is changin', intertwinin' with gangsta's
In the land of the killers, a sinner's mind is a sanctum
Holy or unholy, only have one homie
Only this gun, lonely cause don't anyone know me
Yet everybody just feels like they can relate, I guess words are a
mothafucka they can be great
Or they can degrade, or even worse they can teach hate
It's like these kids hang on every single statement we make
Like they worship us, plus all the stores ship us platinum
Now how the fuck did this metamorphosis happen
From standin' on corners and porches just rappin'
To havin' a fortune, no more kissin' ass
But then these critics crucify you, journalists try to burn you
Fans turn on you, attorneys all want a turn at you
To get they hands on every dime you have, they want you to lose your mind
every time you mad
So they can try to make you out to look like a loose cannon
Any dispute won't hesitate to produce handguns
That's why these prosecutors wanna convict me, strictly just to get me off
of these streets quickly
But all they kids be listenin' to me religiously, so i'm signin' cd's while
police fingerprint me
They're for the judge's daughter but his grudge is against me
If i'm such a fuckin' menace, this shit doesn't make sense Pete
It's all political, if my music is literal, and i'm a criminal how the fuck
can I raise a little girl
I couldn't, I wouldn't be fit to, you're full of shit too, Guerrera, that
was a fist that hit you...
[CHORUS]
[Verse 3]
They say music can alter moods and talk to you
Well can it load a gun up for you , and cock it too
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude
Just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sued
See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols
And they want to get one cause they think the shit's cool
Not knowin' we really just protectin' ourselves, we entertainers
Of course the shit's affectin' our sales, you ignoramus
But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our
checks in the mail
It's fucked up ain't it
How we can come from practically nothing to being able to have any fuckin'
thing that we wanted
That's why we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing
Except for a dream, and a fuckin' rap magazine
Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long
Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs
Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives
Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die
Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe
We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes
That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and
hold it
Cause we consider these minutes golden
And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone
Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our
songs and we can...
[CHORUS X2]

Old school Eminem hits different absolute genius
He still is
Eminem has literally gotten me through every struggle I've overcome in my life , he's LITERALLY saved my life so many times. Thank you Eminem. Because of you I never felt alone.
This song got me through the summer after I shot myself in the back the head with a snub-nosed .22 revolver when I was 16, missed my brainstem by a millimeter, and the bullet pressed up against and cauterized an artery and that's the only reason I didn't bleed to death. It's actually still in the back of my head, doctors couldn't remove it. So now I always wear a medical tag with my name and the phrase: "No MRI, Fragments in Skull", as a MRI would most likely rip the bullet out right out of my skull. I did it at 8:30 in the morning, May 31st, 2009, parents didn't find me until 4:30 in the afternoon. I'm 29 now, a well adjusted adult who now see's that pull of the trigger as the worst thing that I've ever done in my entire life. Eminem, and this song in particular, gave me the strength to carry on and make something of myself instead of continuing on my path of self-destruction. I'm literally still alive because of this song.
@@ryukshinigami13 thats real shit bro im happy your still here
@@bahir323 Appreciate that bruh. I'm happy I'm still here too, despite my best effort not to be.
@@ryukshinigami13 Glad that you are still here. I believe a lot of people would have the thought of suicide some time in their life myself included. But trust me friend, it's never worth it. life is hard but it will get better over time.
@@huydang813 That sentiment right there is why I go out of my way to talk about my experiences and how I overcame them. I've always been an open book when it comes to my struggle with suicidal ideation, mainly because I've noticed over the years just how many people struggle in silence with it. I've lost count of how many people over the years have pulled me aside to talk about their own thoughts of self-harm, literally because of my willingness to speak on it without shame or stigma. It definitely became my cross to bear, and I can sit here today and tell you that there are people who are still alive, only because I myself survived and gained enough objectivity to see the value in being open and honest, rather than trying to hide from that part of my past. If my negative experiences can help impart some wisdom or understanding in others, so they don't have to have to face the trials and tribulations I did, then to me it was worth going through.
This song was the End of an era the absolute best era of our time.
Back when music was music.

One of the best songs of all time, I've never seen someone speak for so many peoples lives and exact or similar situations, and he puts it in a uplifting energy. This song is fucking amazing, thanks em, you make us feel better when others can't.

I'm 33, a bit more then 20 years, this man, lyricist, Slim Shady, Marshal Mathers, Eminem and the rest of his alter egos💕😜 Eminem has given me and this generation the most unique and never again lyricist that has effected someone some way good or bad. You will never hear lyrics like his again! Marshal Mathers you are a once in a lifetime musician that will and remain like NO OTHER!! I wish I was able to attend at least one concert but I believe the last time in Montreal Quebec Canada was canceled. I remember, I was in my early teens and the show that you performed in overalls and a chainsaw was the most transition in performance for the rap industry. There will never be another you and that's okay BECAUSE THERE IS NO BETTER YOU THAN THE YOU THAT YOU ARE! took you long enoug to accept that you are much more then you believe you are and that you are a Grammy or Golden globe! you're just as amazing and unique as our universe. Cd after lps to platinum records each song you created or featured or did a small part on another song it doesn't matter because it has been the most calming voice that goes through my head and my heart💞 I wasn't raised to think I was anyone special to anyone, Lonley Cause don't anyone know me, yet everyone one feels like they can relate I guess words are a mfer the can be great or they can degrade or worse they can teach us to hate. You letting out the way your words flow doesn't matter what we are going thru your words let out that in held rage and knowing someone can put it into words and make comfort music for damaged souls. You will always be the only rapper who crawls through my body making me blessed and thankful that I lived during the era of Eminem. 20 years later you will still be my go to😌💣 I suffer from borderline disorder and at least Eminem made me feel like I wasn't alone and I have to (rip linking park) bc they also had not as big as a result of the impact of eminens songs but I loved both artist but the real slim shady please stand up because you need the reality that you are the greatest! Hands down by far to infinity and beyond you are #1 fuck the rest you're the best( I love all types of music and have favourite songs by all kinds of artist, landslide fleet wood Mack. Just know Eminem will be the only one of a kind rap lyricist and that's my honest opinion and I just wanna see him live just once in my life but most likely not at least I got his music for life, truly your biggest fan, ps come to Montreal!! One last time. and hey overalls are in again do a blow out concert bc no one will ever be able to sing the words you say! There's only one you and you will remain that title for life 😉💟💞 my life is complete bc u were part of it thank you

Let people be who they be, I raised 5 kids and they are all so different I let them wear their hair their clothes the way they wanted, let them figure out who they were inside. Always told them as long as you aren't hurting anyone especially the innocent. My middle son is a juggalo, dreads tattoos and he will stop to help anyone. Elderly women trying to trim some branches he pulls over and ask "you need help ma'am?" She says why yes thank you!" That's what America needs more of!
Good for you. You raised your children right. :)
Good shit Sheila.

Back when Eminem was nobody he wanted to sample "Dream On" by Aerosmith but he was poor and couldn't pay the clearance fee in order to sample it. When he got rich, he totally forgot about it and it was his best friend, Proof, who reminded him of his idea. It really adds another layer of depth to this record considering Proof got killed, I bet this song means something to Em that none of us feel.

I like the twist between rap and old school rock
I love Eminem's new music, but sometimes I wish he'd make more music like this. This stuff is just too good.
All his songs would sound the same if he did that
+Hasan Hanif Well, the work of a true artist (any artist) represents the reflection of his current thoughts/feelings/visions, etc. As these factors change over time due how life evolves so the artist's work. Yes indeed Eminem's past songs are absolutely incredible (from my point of view of course, others may think differently) while his new ones do not have that "touch". But you have to take in consideration that he changed and you also changed as a person since you heard the first time his songs. The idea is to embrace these changes and appreciate them :).
@Zachary Kariotis I mean he's tried to do that with "Revival" though no? Yet he got such a heavy backlash of hate. So Kamikaze is just him responding it's like both extremes on separate albums. Although I feel like stepping stones is quite deep in my opinion.
Hasan Hanif I understand but Eminem's new music is the shit nobody to this day can beat him Rap God that's why he made the song called Rap God lol which is one of my favorite's one more thing I agree with you on the last part you wrote he's been my favorite since I was a kid of course I love Tupac Biggie Smalls Jay-Z DMX Nas Mariah Carey Boosie P Diddy

It´s been 4 and a half years since I´m into Eminem´s music and I´m still on it like the first day that I´ve discovered his music. There´s this magic behind it, the goosebumps with every clever lyric, the English that he taught me because my teachers were too incompetent to teach us more "advanced English". His story, his legacy... Please keep on going forever.

One of my favourite EMIN3M tracks, I want this playing at my funeral
This is probably eminems most emotional and meaning song. It hurts me to see how different his music has become over the years.
I wouldn't say that, have you heard Headlights or Legacy?
Tbh, I think all of those songs are emotional. it doesn't matter what song is most emotional and meaningful, every song he makes is just so passionate and sensitive, like him. that's whats so great bout Eminem, he brings back old memories and past recollections and makes his music golden. Eminem for life
yeah
ViolentSniping are you saying "Fack" is emotional? xD
Yeah, he is still good now bu he does lack the emotion he put behind in his early efforts. Definitely one of his most emotional, Kim and Cleanin' Out My Closet are real emotional too. Probably his most emotional was If I Had... off of SSEP/LP, Em never rapped about money but in this song he laments being dead broke and just trying to get by while also trying to make it in the rap game. You really feel his pain but at the end of the song you're happy knowing that he's unbelievably rich he nor his daughters have to ever worry about money.
MAN I fucking miss when this first came out. The good old days, where we were all young, free, and not have a care in the world. First cd my parents bought me. I still cant believe how far we've gone in just a couple of years, don't know where I'd be without hip hop!

True
He was definitely at his peak in 2002!
This album and Recovery are just Eminem in his prime
Personally think “the Eminem show” was Eminem’s best album. Flows were great, wasn’t too crazy like the two previous albums, wasn’t hung up about rapping fast like the current music he releases, no pop features & was speaking about much better things. 2002 was simply the best Eminem, if I’m correct lose yourself was released the same year.
I personally thought that the Eminem show and curtain call were both his best.
Man didn’t just make a gem of a song, he made a statement. Man showed that his lyrics can be more than just Shady or about guns and drugs, but also made it almost made it family friendly in a way due to the sample. Not to mention it was a hit, different kind of hit though. It reached different crowds, and proved those critics wrong! Rap is more than music, very few artists prove that and Em is one of them!

This song really brings out the lyrical genius of Eminem which IMO is telling story through emotional (be it anger or frustration ) rhymes . He songs flow like a story .... amazing lyrics .the last few verses .OMG
all these years and the thousands of times ive heard this song its still every bit as real and badass as the first time
