The books were great. It's not a bad guess about the VR stuff, but the tone of this story is way darker than it may seem at first. The first book plays like an unfolding mystery. Things get real by the end and the second and third book open up to a huge scale. I'm excited to see how they try to pull off a lot of iconic sequences from the books. I hope you enjoy it!

The series is based on a book by a Chinese author, and the story mainly involves Chinese characters. However, the upcoming Netflix adaptation seems to have made some changes, such as splitting one of the central characters into multiple characters and making them more international to appeal to a global audience.
