I just stumbled upon your channel today. I, too, went to Rhinebeck for the first time this year. And I also bought a sweater quantity of yarn from Shenandoah Fiber. I can't wait to cast on. It's so incredibly soft.
I have confession to make. Since I was a teenager (oh so many years ago), I always wanted to have a beautiful poncho. However, the people around me and my family were always apalled when I brought up this desire. When I started knitting again after I retired 2 years ago, I was always on the lookout for a great poncho pattern. I was stunned by your shawl! I can't wait to knit it. Thank you so much for your willingness to share this great pattern.
I was able to go to Scotland for the very first time this Summer. We spent 2 weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. We felt very much the same way you did about being in the US. Different words, beautiful accents, driving on the opposite side of the road, etc. We stayed the first week in Dunfermline in an apartment near the Abbey. We LOVED Edinburgh, the green green rolling hills with sheep everywhere. We traveled to the Isles of Lewis and Harris and the Isle of Skye. Glen Coe was spectacular. It took my breath away! Oh and the castles!!! I hope very much to go back someday.
Another wonderful podcast! I had my colours done in the mid 1980s. I always went for greys and browns. Unbeknownst to me, it turns out I am a Winter with some Spring! I felt the exact same way as you when I went shopping for some new clothes in my "colours" and tried on a very bright fuschia blouse. It was like Wow, there I am! The lovely birds are indeed Blue Jays. They are one of the birds that hang around through winter. It's always so wonderful to see their bright blue feathers amongst the bare branches in the middle of winter.
That is so amazing to learn your color season is Winter! I have never had my colors analyzed but I have been fascinated to the point where I started guessing what other people's "seasons" may be and always thought you suited the Winter colors! I believe my season is Summer, I absolutely am cool toned, never doubted that, and have found the softer colors work better for me. Thank you for sharing all the loveliness of your stateside trip Amy!
Wonderful video - so uplifting!! I love your new colors. I have my colors too and it makes shopping such a joy. And yes, it is a Blue Jay and they are significant to winter because they do not migrate and their color is a lovely contrast to the snow! As are Cardinals, who are red! ❤
Hello Amy, everytime I see your lovley poncho, I‘m going through my yarncollection in my mind 😊 Best wishes from Germany, Stephanie P. S.: Sorry for my english.
A wonderful episode dear Amy - you did so very well on your big adventure!! Ponchos were all the craze when I was in high school in the early 70s - I do fancy another one 50 years later 😂 Happy birthday for the 7th of November - the same birth date as Ryan, our beautiful first born son 😊
For purely selfish reasons, I was disappointed that you might not finish your Stephen West shawl. I seldom finish mine in time. Love your colours. Also loved your shawl episodes where you show all your shawls, and where you show all your SW shawls. I love your podcast, especially the cards. Thank you.
Happy Birthday, may the coming year be a good one for you! Thank you for another thoughtful episode, your sense of peacefulness and the poetry you add is a balm for the soul. What a whirlwind your trip was, I wondered how you would survive the festival since it seemed that every floss tuber I watched during the festival that was attending, had you on their list of the person they most wanted to meet. You seemed to be the Queen of the festival! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if I can vote on what you do with your Geogradient shawl? The first time I discovered your podcast was your shawl episodes. I was so knock-down impressed - just astounded at your collection. I think this one deserves to hang on that wall! You have knit many of Steven's designs and I always admire how you interpret his patterns with your expert knitting and your choice of yarns. My vote is for this year's MKAL be added to your collection!
Bluejays are such beautiful blue birds! A blue bird of happiness. They are big and somewhat dominant. We have them in Maryland. I just can’t wait to get my hands on your poncho pattern. I have some beautiful wool from the British “The Raw Wool Company” and a skein from Welsh sheep from “Nellie and Eve”. My maiden name is Davis, so I am very pleased about the Welsh wool. Your trip sounds lovely. Hope the USA was not too overwhelming.❤
What a lovely episode, your trip to the US seems to have been fun and full of adventures. And to answer your question during the podcast, the bird on your winter stitch markers is a Blue jay.
Love your poncho! Totally understand why you would opt out of the MKAL. It’s a lot more fun when you join at the beginning. The mystery is part of the fun! I must say though, this is the first MKAL that I finished on time instead of frogging it or abandoning it or finishing just in time for the next one 😜. There’s always next year 😊.
Oh, I can’t wait until your beautiful poncho pattern is out, I will cast it on immediately and it will be worn everyday in the winter time 🥰 So very beautiful and cosy 🤗 But, I’ve just got to say this… Going from Scotland and buy whiskey in the US? How were you thinking? You have the worlds best whiskey in Scotland, right!! 😂🥳 The Meaningful Stitch is my favourite podcast, I love your knitting choices, both the patterns and the colours, always so inspiring, thank you for that dear Amy ❤️
HI Amy - it was a pleasure to meet you and Jackie, just before the Podcast Patio at W&F. I think we were all shell-shocked at that point, however I'm glad you made the best of it and had a wonderful people-and-fiber filled weekend!
Wonderful episode Amy! So glad you got to experience autumn here in the US, as a New Englander, I was excited to see that you brought home Vermont and Maine yarns! Nice choices, cant wait to see what you do with them. All of your yarns are beautiful. Looking forward to your poncho release. I am addicted to knitting up your Gallus Scarf, finally a scarf that is fun to knit. Thank you!
I am so happy that you will be writing up a pattern for your lovely Poncho design, Thank you xx 🙂 I am a beginner knitter, and one of my reasons for starting up knitting is because I love Ponchos but can never find ready made ones to purchase. I have been searching for a nice pattern, so was extremely interested when you showed your lovely poncho on your last podcast. I also feel that with all your experience with knitting shawls, this could lead you into many different interesting Poncho designs in the future. A colour work one would also be nice, although I am a long way off being able to do colour work. Perhaps a joint venture with Jackie Rose, the Soho Poncho. PS The Winter colour pallet looks so beautiful and radiant on you. Happy Birthday for tomorrow
Thank you. Your podcast today was just what I needed. I’ve been taking care of my best friend for the week. She has been experiencing some deep blahs. I’ve had to be the perky uplifting friend to help her deal. Your positivity and “loveliness” were just what I needed. So glad you had a good adventure in the USA. I totally related to your feeling of being overwhelmed. Thanks again for being you.
So pleased you had a positive experience at the Pick Up Every Stitch event. I was sick that day and couldn't come to work but thrilled you were happy to see the Gallus sample I made. I had hubby drop it to the shop but didn't have time to block it. It's now blocked and bloomed beautifully in the Les Garcons yarn. Congrats on such a lovely design. I enjoyed every stitch. Can't wait to make the poncho too!
Hello Amy, glad you were able to enjoy your trip. What do do with your gorgeous Shenandoah fiber,.... maybe a Halu by Boyland Knits? I imagine the neckline would look gorgeous with that deep purple color.
Amy, I love your poncho, I am not the most experienced knitter, but I am eagerly waiting for the pattern and going to give it my best. Thank you for a lovely podcast you are so talented ❤
I love your Quadrangle Spires behind you. I'm working on that one when I'm not working on the Geogradient. Your trip sounds quite worthwhile in spite of the one hard day.
After so much negativity about Wool & Folk from everyone (all of it well-deserved- but negative nonetheless), it was so refreshing to hear about your fun trip. I should have known that you would see the positive in any situation. I am glad you had a great experience.
The first thing I thought when I started watching this podcast is, Amy looks fabulous in that pink! I live about 3 hrs from Madison…maybe I should book a consult with Melissa 😊. Love your poncho. And you did get some beautiful yarns from Rhinebeck!
Your lovely stitch maker bird, you correctly said is a blue-jay. We used to have them in the garden in BC Canada. I think they are probably more visible in the bare trees in winter, but I'm sure some if your other viewers will tell you why they are special when seen 8n winter. Thank you for all the information about your USA trip. Also, Happy Birthday for tomorrow, I hope you have a special day, lots of surprises and treats😊❤🎉🎉
So excited you will share your poncho pattern with us. I met you at Pick Up Every Stitch buying yarn for your Gallus Shawl. You were so nice to pose with me for a picture! I love the cards you read each episode.
I always enjoy your podcasts and this one was no exception. I loved hearing all about your wonderful trip to the states. Like lots of others I look forward to when your poncho pattern is released. Hope you had a wonderful birthday 🌸🌸
Hi Amy your birthday is the actual day my daughter was due to arrive but Nyree decided to arrive on the 8th , so we will be celebrating a birthday with you a day later , what a phenomenal filled podcast , you put soo much into every one you make always make me feel special I look forward to your next one too just fantastic I’m so glad I came across you all those episodes ago . Enjoy your birthday 🎂 on Tuesday xxx❤
This was such a lovely recap of your trip across the pond. The style you followed of showing off your knits, yarns, and telling stories flowed so nicely and it really feels like you crafted a story for us ❤ How much fun to be a sultry winter 😏
I really enjoyed your Rhinebeck Ramblings! It was great to get your impressions of the whole event. Although I did not go to Wool Folk (thank goodness and I really wanted to go) I did attend Cake Palooza which was lovely as they have “timed“ tickets so there was no overcrowding. When you said “overwhelmed“ I understood perfectly as my reaction was that! Sooo big sooo much…sooo many people. I think next year if I go back I will do a little trip on the Saturday but return on the Sunday to buy my yarn when it is less hectic! 😂 Everyone tells you how huge it is but until you live it you can't imagine it. I also bought yarn from Nash Island and Loops! I got lovely yarn from Garthenor that was new to me 😊 so soft I got a sweater's worth. There were so many booths that were hard to get near to. Loved your poetry readings with Jackie ❤. Would love to have my colours done 😊 happy knitting, Elaine
What a lovely episode! I so enjoyed meeting you at both Wool and Folk and Rhinebeck! It was so enjoyable to see such beautiful yarn and meet lots of fellow knitters! Thanks for sharing your journey! ❤
It's always such a pleasure to spend time with you. So glad that you enjoyed your trip to the States. I am from New Hampshire and it surely is a great time of year here. Love all of your purchases, especially the 3 mini skeins that you found at Rhinebeck...those are lovely colors!
Happy birthday and all the best for the next. So far my thst we share the same birthday , so I’ll send some extra wishes your way on Tuesday. Looking forward to the poncho pattern, it’s on the top of my to do list.
I loved hearing about your journey to NY Sheep & Wool and all of your other little journeys associated with it. I cannot imagine how exhausted you must have felt and probably still feel. You told us at the end to "take good care" and I certainly hope you do too. I have never been to NYC or NY Sheep & Wool but I have watched many recaps of the event and other nearby events and so I do appreciate hearing about your travels. I also loved the 2 poetry episodes you did with Jackie - so very relaxing to listen and knit. (I'm working on Christmas knits). I am looking forward to all of your future episodes and woolly goodness. 🧶
Happy Birthday ! The bird on your winter markers is a Blue Jay, we see them mainly in the winter when there is no leafs in the trees. Thanks for sharing your Rhinebeck and friendship trip with us. I just love your pink sweater !
Thank you for another lovely podcast and for sharing your adventures to New York and Wisconsin. While I did not attend Wool and Folk or Rhinebeck, I was saddened for you and Rebecca, Megha and all of the attendees, as it did not start on a high note. But, in your positive spiritf, you had a good time. I have always felt that these kinds of events really are more about friendship and community than just the commerce side. Making new connections and sustaining existing ones will never equal to a sweater’s quantity of wool. With that said, your new colors are gorgeous! I am so looking forward to knitting your poncho and a Gallus wrap. I am looking forward to your next episode and to seeing all of your new knitting projects. Cheers!
This was such a lovely video and I'm so happy that you and Jackie, 2 beautiful souls, could spend some in-person time together. Thank you for sharing! 💗
Happy Birthday Amy! Quite an adventure you had with so many memories of your friends. I was laughing right along with you! The fall season is so beautiful here, with all the winter birds trying out their new flight patterns into the trees. We are putting up and filling bird feeders. A lot of the smaller birds, chickadees, finches, cardinals and doves like to eat from the ground and it seems to be the job of the Blue Jays to empty the feeders in search of the black sunflower seeds. I can spend hours watching them.
Thank you, Amy! I absolutely love and appreciate the way you talk about your Birthday. There's a positivity there I need to work on. I think your talk about your visit to the US was so wonderful. That was so nice Kim and Jonna could help. How exhausting with the planes, and trains. A blue jay for sure. I love them. Thank you again, Amy! - All the best, Kimberly
I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about your American adventure with which I connected on a few levels. First, Happy Birthday on the 7th... mine is the 8th, so hello fellow Scorpio! Second, I'm not surprised that you are a winter because you look lovely in that pink! I also used to do color analysis in the 80's, and it's still amazes me that wearing the right colors on a day that you don't feel your best can make you look as though you feel fantastic! Thank you for the suggestion for the book Art and Wonder. How amazing is it that you and Jackie both selected it, and her choice by sheer fate! I believe I've found, in that book, the perfect gift for my very artistic daughter-in- law for Christmas! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Amy. As always, I enjoyed spending a couple of hours with you!
Oh Amy, you made me laugh out loud, as you described your rushing for the plane. Thank you so much for your tales . Lovely to hear how it all went for you.
I hope you continue with your MKAL as clues 3 & 4 have really interesting texture stitches and I would be so interested in what you think as they seem-to be a bit marmite in the community with some saying they take ages and are repetitive striped boredom, and some loving (like me) the novelty of learning a technique like this and the comfort (required) of a repeating pattern.😊
The bird stitch marker IS a blue jay; good instinct, Amy. I'm so pleased to see Firefly Notes in your collection; she's a tiny, mostly one-person business who lives and works right down the street from me. She's always at yarn events here (in Vancouver, BC area), but I didn't know her reach went as far as Wisconsin! What a lovely (lol) episode. I'm glad you had a good time at Rhinebeck and A Woolen Affair to help you overcome the overwhelm of Wool & Folk! How wonderful that you got to connect with Jackie R in person at last! Isn't Madison lovely? I loved my visit there.
That was lovely, Amy! (A word I, too, use a great deal...) Thank you for your generosity in sharing so thoroughly. As a regular consumer of podcasts, it's impossible not to be aware of all the excitement around the Rhinebeck events, and I'm not very likely at all ever to go myself so it's fun to live vicariously through others' accounts. I'm glad you had so many wonderful experiences - and also that you're safely home again. Take care.
Amy, this podcast made me feel so happy. I don’t believe I’ve commented on here before but I’ve been watching and enjoying you for a while now. You seem so joyful and full of life and enthusiasm today! You look beautiful, as always. You almost seem to have been transformed somehow and you just glow. I loved you before, your peaceful presence, your kindness, your style. But you look so happy today my heart is just happy for you. I’m so glad you were able to make this trip and meet so many of your friends. I don’t have any friends in real life who knit so I enjoy watching you and your journey. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you a wonderful week. Oh, and I can’t wait for you to release your red shawl pattern - ahmazing!!
Happy birthday, my birthday is November 7 too. And I’ll be traveling from Toronto to Edinburgh this July before and after a knitting trip to Shetland. Hope you can make it to Shetland.
Happy Birthday 🎉 My mother had the same birthday. Blue Jays is also the name of our Toronto pro baseball team. It is lovely to see them on a snowy winter day. 🇨🇦🇫🇮
Happy Birthday a few days early! 🎂 Amy, you can really carry off hot pink! 👍🏻 I'm glad that you enjoyed Rhinebeck, and that you brought home beautiful memories AND beautiful yarn. ❤
This was just what I needed this Sunday evening to hear all about your adventures in the US as I am sitting here knitting JackieRose's Sunday Shrug!! What an amazing haul of precious yarns you came home with! 😊 Thank you Amy! (Oh and I look forward to the pattern for your stunning red poncho coming to fruition! 🧶)
Another great episode Amy! Loved hearing about your US adventures and loved all your purchases. So great you got your colours done, I would love to do that. You are absolutely right, when you hold up your poncho, so flattering. Looking forward to the pattern. Have a good rest and look forward to the next podcast.
What a fun video. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. The yarn you purchased is stunning. And I just laughed when you said you said you, “cosplayed as Fall”, you were a lovely Fall. Your Goddess readings sound so interesting, I would love to get one. Happy Birthday 🎉 lovely Scorpio. May it be a wonderful one! Happy creating 💚🧶💚
Happy Birthday Amy. Loved your podcast and all your adventures. Looking forward to the poncho pattern. Thinking of making a Bright Royal Blue. Do you know how many balls of Drops silk you used for the red one? I want to place an order to the wool warehouse so my needles and yarn will be ready to cast on once you release the pattern. Love that you are a Winter, I am as well. Have a beautiful day.
When I first played your video my first thought was, oh she looks so pretty in those colors! Good choice/combination 🦋 Thanks for sharing your experience here in the states :) I love your poncho & ready for a pattern. ✨Happy Birthday to you✨
I just found your podcast…your sense of humour is hilarious 😆 …considering to just wear the skeins around your neck like a cowl to get home! Thank heavens for your fibre friends who made the visit a lot smoother.
Thank you for yet another lovely uplifting episode. I'm never likely to go to Rheinbeck myself so it was great to live through it with you. I'm glad you're back safe and sound and that you had such a wonderful time. I love how you put such a positive spin on the not so good bits! I can't wait to see what you make with all of the lovely yarn you bought 😍
Thank you for a wonderful podcast. Great to hear about your experiences and travel stories. I wanted to be a winter but I am a summer. Paula from Australia
The bird is a blue jay. They stay around during the winter in the North so are prevalent here at my bird feeders in Vermont. It was fun to meet you “on the hill”. Thought you were lovely and present despite the fact you must have been exhausted from your experience the day before.
what a lovely episode Amy! Loved hearing your adventures and it feels that you had a really wholesome experience with some awesome friends and new acquaintances too! By the way , that poetry book sounds like an amazing and thoughtful gift. Hope you have a fantastic birthday! 🤗
Can’t wait for the poncho design. It’s the shape. It’s so flattering. Ooh and I love your trick of swapping presents for others to presents for yourself 😉. Good for you!
What a great adventure you had ! I went last year to W&F and NY S&W and can relate to travel! We flew from California to NY. It was wonderful with all the shenanigans! Thank you for sharing your experience ❤
It’s so wonderful to visit with you today! My thoughts about your MCAL-use that gorgeous yarn to make something magical and release the MCAL! I knitted through clue 2 and decided I didn’t love it and it wasn’t something I would wear-so I abandoned it! No worries; no guilt. Your yarn is so lovely - make something truly lovely!! Just sayin….❤
I just stumbled upon your channel today. I, too, went to Rhinebeck for the first time this year. And I also bought a sweater quantity of yarn from Shenandoah Fiber. I can't wait to cast on. It's so incredibly soft.

Thank you thank you thank you (and ginger twist too) for writing up the poncho pattern. I can't wait til it comes out! ♥

I think your bird stitch marker is a blue Jay. We have a lot of those here in the States.
Lovely. And I think that lip color is fantastic on you 🩷
Watching this on the 5th. Happy Birthday Amy!

Have a look at the #10 shawl by Lori Versace. Your Yin Yang yarn would be great as a #4 shawl.
Hello Amy, glad you were able to enjoy your trip. What do do with your gorgeous Shenandoah fiber,.... maybe a Halu by Boyland Knits? I imagine the neckline would look gorgeous with that deep purple color.
Amy, you look great in pink, especially your lipstick suits you well.🤩

Happy birthday Amy - lovely podcast as usual. Looking forward to your poncho pattern. xx

Wishing you so much joy with being more yourself. You are so lovely, Amy, and I love your poncho! How exciting!!! ♥️🐑♥️🐑♥️

Knitting with Amy Palco hair. ❤️ lovely podcast
It was a delight to watch. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your trip. So so glad you are releasing the poncho pattern. Happy Birthday lovely lady xx

I can't wait for that Poncho pattern ! xxx
You look so pretty in pink. Love your knitting segment Irene from australia♥️
Absolutely loved your rambling!!! Happy birthday wishes, Amy 💌🎂✨
Take care.
Love your pink lipstick with the pink top. And the golden yarn is gorgeous ❤
Wonderful...Enjoyed Every Second Thank You Amy 💜💞💚
An epic episode! Fabulous, what a wonderful trip you had, sounded amazing. Thank you for such a great episode 😊
Happy birthday Amy.
Suzanne
Amy, spending time with you is always a pleasure and a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of my week 😊
Happy Birthday 🎉 My mother had the same birthday. Blue Jays is also the name of our Toronto pro baseball team. It is lovely to see them on a snowy winter day. 🇨🇦🇫🇮
Whoa! Amy, I'm thrilled I was able to met you! I'm still pinching myself. Wishing you a happy early birthday! ❤❤❤
Absolutely lovely episode. Structureless was joyful
A wonderful podcast Amy, thank you so much ❤ and a Happy Birthday to you too.
Amazing episode as usual Amy. I really enjoyed hearing about your US adventures.
Happy Birthday. What a wonderful adventure you had. Thanks for sharing
It was wonderful to meet you at Rhinebeck on the Sunday! You are just as sweet and down-to-earth in person as you are on the podcast☺️
I used to colour work and identified you as a winter quite a while ago. You are astounding in that pink sweater!
Love your podcast ❤ Thank you🙏🏻
Thankyou so much Amy for 'taking us' on your delightful trip - you made it all quite 'magical' as you have a talent of doing Best wishes !!
This was a wonderful podcast- so nice to focus on the positives!
Maybe a Find Your Fade by Andrea Mowry I ended up using my MKAL yarn after the section 1 issues for that and it looks amazing
what a lovely episode Amy!
Have a wonderful birthday from a fellow Scorpion, my birthday is the 8th. Love your podcast, you are so amazing!
What a great adventure you had ! I went last year to W&F and NY S&W and can relate to travel! We flew from California to NY. It was wonderful with all the shenanigans! Thank you for sharing your experience ❤
That was lovely
It’s so wonderful to visit with you today! My thoughts about your MCAL-use that gorgeous yarn to make something magical and release the MCAL! I knitted through clue 2 and decided I didn’t love it and it wasn’t something I would wear-so I abandoned it! No worries; no guilt. Your yarn is so lovely - make something truly lovely!! Just sayin….❤
