I love the pixelation. It forces you to imagine a high-resolution image of it in your head, and only by ourselves can we truly find what is true horror. Basically, you imagine the scariest scenario and the pixelation is merely a base to build your nightmare upon.

I know one way to get rid of hiccups (probably asthmatics shouldn't use it): 1. Breathe out all air and hold breath for 10 seconds. 2. Drink glass of water (usually around 200-300 ml). 3. Breathe in. 4. Hiccups stop. Idk, never did double blinded placebo test of it, but for me it's working:P
I was taught to take a teaspoon of sugar and let it fully dissolve before swallowing it (and I discovered swishing it around with your tounge makes it dissolve faster) It's very effective, though diabetics shouldn't preform this
MrAlexTamer Actually for Me, I recently found an easier and quicker way to get rid if hiccups. I don't know if it will work for anyone else but It works for Me, every time. And This is what you do: Hold your breath whilst swallowing 3 times, it will work if you do 3 big swallows or a bunch of little ones. Depending on which ones easiest for you. :) then when you're ready, continue breathing like normal but do one last swallow, and don't hold your breath this time. if it doesn't work then try again but do more swallows. you're welcome.
The only things that ever worked for me were swallowing a spoonful of sugar whole and taking as big of a breath as I could and forcing it down into my chest. Hiccups are caused by the diaphragm trying to get air (at least, that's what I've heard) so anything that gets more air into that area should help. Also, +MCKENNA WEBB, 300ml is about what fits in the average coffee cup.
Literally every time i see a time card screen, i read it with Spongebob's french accented narrator. I subconsciously can't read them any other way because doing so just feels wrong.

I think the reason that Silent Hill games and other revered horror games like it such as the old Resident Evil games, and Amnesia the Dark Descent, for example, have always been good and still provide an equal experience to this day because of how they were made. Most good horror games like these do a very good job at building a sense of insecurity and impending doom in the player by doing things like setting the right atmosphere, building up to encounters by leaving clues that something really bad has happened but without revealing exactly what, making the environment that the player is in feel unsafe and like there could be dangers lurking around any corner, etc. So, I don't believe it has to do with the graphics at all in fact, those games are good because they were made well and have thought out plot, and are able to fill the person playing with a sense of dread without necessarily having imminent danger and mess with them psychologically, as this game tended to do with Mark.

I understand what you mean, pixelated graphics can add a degree of uncertainty as to what you're looking at, and also tends to make environments seem more maze like since there is less detail in them. I was saying games with high graphic detail can do the same thing if they're done right, Amnesia the Dark Descent did this very well, even though the graphics were considerably good. The setting was always such that it was hard to differentiate between one corridor from another within the same area because they had very similar layouts and all of the walls, floors, ceilings, doors, etc. looked the same. It was also very dark a lot of the time, so it was hard to make out what you were seeing, an inanimate object or a shadow could be mistaken for one of the monsters unless you got close. By the way, thanks!

I know one way to get rid of hiccups (probably asthmatics shouldn't use it):
1. Breathe out all air and hold breath for 10 seconds.
2. Drink glass of water (usually around 200-300 ml).
3. Breathe in.
4. Hiccups stop.
Idk, never did double blinded placebo test of it, but for me it's working:P
I was taught to take a teaspoon of sugar and let it fully dissolve before swallowing it (and I discovered swishing it around with your tounge makes it dissolve faster)
It's very effective, though diabetics shouldn't preform this

Actually for Me, I recently found an easier and quicker way to get rid if hiccups. I don't know if it will work for anyone else but It works for Me, every time.
And This is what you do:
Hold your breath whilst swallowing 3 times, it will work if you do 3 big swallows or a bunch of little ones. Depending on which ones easiest for you. :) then when you're ready, continue breathing like normal but do one last swallow, and don't hold your breath this time. if it doesn't work then try again but do more swallows.

The only things that ever worked for me were swallowing a spoonful of sugar whole and taking as big of a breath as I could and forcing it down into my chest. Hiccups are caused by the diaphragm trying to get air (at least, that's what I've heard) so anything that gets more air into that area should help.
Also, +MCKENNA WEBB, 300ml is about what fits in the average coffee cup.

I think the reason that Silent Hill games and other revered horror games like it such as the old Resident Evil games, and Amnesia the Dark Descent, for example, have always been good and still provide an equal experience to this day because of how they were made. Most good horror games like these do a very good job at building a sense of insecurity and impending doom in the player by doing things like setting the right atmosphere, building up to encounters by leaving clues that something really bad has happened but without revealing exactly what, making the environment that the player is in feel unsafe and like there could be dangers lurking around any corner, etc. So, I don't believe it has to do with the graphics at all in fact, those games are good because they were made well and have thought out plot, and are able to fill the person playing with a sense of dread without necessarily having imminent danger and mess with them psychologically, as this game tended to do with Mark.
NODnuke45 your right but sometimes the graphics also have a scary feeling to it and sometimes it looks like a person is standing there in the dark but actually it just a box or a shadow etc. that’s what mark means but your text was so long that I had to write a reply but all you said was true and by the way it’s amazing that you have time to write such a big text love that but your right pol😉
I understand what you mean, pixelated graphics can add a degree of uncertainty as to what you're looking at, and also tends to make environments seem more maze like since there is less detail in them. I was saying games with high graphic detail can do the same thing if they're done right, Amnesia the Dark Descent did this very well, even though the graphics were considerably good. The setting was always such that it was hard to differentiate between one corridor from another within the same area because they had very similar layouts and all of the walls, floors, ceilings, doors, etc. looked the same. It was also very dark a lot of the time, so it was hard to make out what you were seeing, an inanimate object or a shadow could be mistaken for one of the monsters unless you got close.
