My Great Uncle was a captain in the war and was a beach master on Omaha. He was in the first wave in the attack. He directed the landing on that beach and helped soldiers out of the boats. He was one of the first American soldiers to land in France that day. He also helped land General Patton in the invasion of Sicily at Salerno. He also served in North Africa. On Omaha, he was standing under heavy German fire. Somehow he made it out alive that day. I went to Normandy and saw these beaches. It is crazy to think about what happened there. It makes it feel wrong to complain about being cold after seeing that. In the American cemetery, there was a quote from a soldier saying “ I said to the man next to me ‘if there is a hell this has got to be it.’ Then a minute later he took a bullet to the head.” Rest in Peace Captain F Perry Williams. I wish I met you. God bless America.

My grandfather Pfc Edward James Johnson was 19 years old when he landed in the Second Wave with The 29th Infantry Division on Omaha Beach June 6, 1944. Nice guys. There's much to admire about this effort. Very effective ambient background sounds... gunfire, guys getting hit, etc. Really adds to the chaotic aspect of battle. And the camera angels and 'shaking' effect were useful in highlighting the hectic nature of war. You also do a nice job at making the most of what I'm guessing is a relatively small cast. The scope of the conflict is portrayed rather well, and it never comes across as just a handful of soldiers, but rather a large-scale encounter. Not easy to do but you pull it off well. Perhaps most impressive is the lack of over-acting... lines are delivered naturally, not scripted, and with a believable amount of tension/stress. Too often, players in these short films feel it necessary to exaggerate for effect, and that results in a lack of credibility. To your credit, you avoid that pitfall and it makes for a better finished product. Even the "kills" were well done... effectively performed but not over-the-top. Nice attention to small details too... the blood on the hands of the men following their attempt to save the life of their downed buddy is one example. My compliments to everyone involved... you should be proud of this effort and a very entertaining piece. Thanks.
@@wwmproductions5787 Your welcome... thanks for the kind words. I appreciate the chance to enjoy the talents of you and your fellow filmmakers. Continued success.
This is awesome. But next time you make a beach landing ww2 film they breached through the sand wall and eliminated the trenches but you may not have the equipment, but this is still awesome
The movie was pretty good for low budget. I gave it a 👍🏻. I would only add. A dog tag should have been removed from the dead soldiers. And. It's not likely that a platoon leader would charge his company up an open road. Straight into a road block of Nazis with machine guns. Just sayin'. A carbine should have eliminated a machine Gunner. Smoke screen could've gained you 15 yards forward. The tree line could have concealed your position. Finishing off the threat at the road block. Could've been a whole different ending. Unless this was a re-enactment of an event that actually happened in WW2. If this is the case, I digress. Good movie! Keep up the good work.
Solid effort! Some minor flaws to touch up on the next film: Saluting with the left arm. No slings on many of the weapons. Saying "yeah" to a Major. "Extra ammo because you know what the Germans are like this time of year"-??? German with US M3 submachine gun (if no German MPs, watch the camera angle). Wind noise on the microphones.
I really love this short film, but I think that there could have been some extra polish put into it. For example, I think you could have done better with all of your gun safety. Most of the time you guys would hold the gun so that the barrel was pointing away from you instead of down. I also think that your cameraman should practice a bit more. There were times when the shot became blurry. I think you guys did really well in the production of this. I would like to see more! Good job! P.S. I'm not hating, I'm only giving some criticism.

hey are not fighting professionally. After seeing the corpse of a soldier in an open area, instead of sending one soldier to the corpse, everyone goes to him without thinking about it. that the dead soldier was killed by a sniper or a machine gunner who could shoot them all. Instead of walking on both sides along the edge of the forest and thus hiding behind the trees in case of a shot, everyone is openly walking along the asphalted road. After throwing a grenade at the machine gunner. instead of running and checking if there are any German soldiers alive or wounded, he runs back to the wounded soldier, although there is a soldier next to the wounded one.
