Since forever in World of Warcraft the titan pantheon were the gods, the creators and probably the most important beings in the entire Warcraft universe. However with the retcons in the Shadowlands and the Grimoire of the Shadowlands changes their role was definitely minimized.
While it is still unclear how they came to be, thus far it seems like the titans are just losers and impersonators pretending to be the First Ones and pretending to create worlds while they only inherited what was already there. Are titans literally just glorified First One roleplayers?

They way I see it, the First Ones were the ones who established the general laws of how the universe would run, down to the fabric of reality, laws of physics, and afterlife. They didn't do much else after that; a farmer that sowed seeds and never harvested. The Titans would come to be, practically a law of nature in their own right (arcane power), and seeing the nascent universe in a disorderly state or yet to be cultivated to its truest potential, set out to do just that since no one else was. And given that they're spawned from planets, it's safe to assume they were also acting on instinct.

This honestly feels like a new writing team just came in look and lore and said “Check out this losers! WE can do it better”
This isn’t expanding the lore or even give it a satisfactory explanation, this just feels like more unnecessary retcons that are just making a mess of the story and keep adding contradictions in the story.
This all just one big slap to the face of all of us who have paying attention to the lore, as basically the new writers just came in calls us idiots for liking the old lore and essentially started drawing scrawls around it and saying they “improve” it. F*cking disgusting

I think initially Blizzard wanted to have their cliché "extreme order bad guy" faction; like the Tal-drim Protoss and Malthael's Reapers. Thus they started expanding and retconning the Titans in Wrath, Cata and Mists with Re-origination and the Mogu.
Then in Legion and BfA, they changed track and tried doing this to the Naaru, which despite being worse-written was more well-received for the most part.
But now they're just rewriting everything, throwing the old stuff out (perhaps while humming the song "everything you know is wrong").

If they were going to take the lore in this direction, they would have had to laid clues around throughout the years in order for any of the current storytelling to have any integrity. It's like the first ones create a Matrix like environment that is dependent on it breaking to achieve perfection. I think the Titans are Eternal Ones and the First ones designed different pantheons that kinda function in the same way.....a group designed each with their own purposes (each titan vs each eternal one) till one of them finds a flaw in the system turns on the rest (Sargeras vs the Jailer) tries to steal their power dismantle and burn down everything, converts one over to his side (Argus vs Denathrius) to aid in his plan by suppling something vital (endlessly regenerate armies vs Anima). Now it's up to to smallest of life born (usually an accident or abnormality) of the very system to fix it all(the mortal races), sound familiar?

    • @DISTurbedwaffle918
      @DISTurbedwaffle918 3 года назад +1

Perhaps it would be a mechanism to essentially phase out the immensely powerful first generation of beings (Titans, Eternal Ones, Void Lords, etc), and usher in an age in which only far less powerful but far more numerous beings populate and dominate creation.
This strangely makes a lot of sense because a handful of god-tier beings is a high risk situation, whereas a vast quantity of relatively powerless beings is almost as low risk as having no life in the universe at all.

My Prediction on First One timeline
    1. First Ones destroyed the original physical representations of the cosmic forces aside from the Void Lords.
    2. The First Ones replaced the original beings of death with Eternal Ones and their creations (it has been revealed that the Eternal Ones are nothing more than constructs by Blizzard)
    3. The First Ones replaced the original beings of Order with the Titans starting with Amanthul.
    4. Elune might be a First One protégé.
    5. Amanthul and Elune used the First Ones’ teachings to order the universe in realms such as the Realms of Life (Emerald Dream) and Light (Elune creates Naaru)
    6. The Naaru followed Elune’s beliefs by using the Light to bring “peace” to planets.
    7. Essentially, the Titans, Elune, and the Naaru used what they learned from the First Ones to do their own thing (Great Ordering of the Cosmos, Ordering of Azeroth, and Ordering of Draenor, etc)
Use Marvel’s Eternals comics’ celestials and eternals as an example. The celestials build universes while the Eternals order civilizations inhabiting those built universes.

The First Ones created the Automa and Constellars to watch over created things as they created World Souls to be born as Titans who will Order creation.... they created The Eternal Ones in the Shadowlands to forge an end with a selected Eternal One like Zovaal to judge the mortal souls while the Eternal Ones amongst themselves began to order the Shadowlands themselves being the most prominent of the afterlives and the Arbiter Zovaal would later betray them when he decided to undo things his creators made. If the First Ones truly are the top of all things then they would've made everything like the Hungering Void to act as a trash can to destroy what is purposeless or "broken" while they themselves devoured everything else in sight and grew hungrier as everything began to be perfected and they no longer were being fed so they looked elsewhere for resources and eventual plunged a piece of themselves in all directions after peering into the mortal universe so they could spread their influence. The Light, they could have been made by The First Ones but judging by the Naaru's designs... maybe the light was the test creation that led to the Titans being born to do Ordering properly. The Fel could also be the newer and improved destroyers or even on a lesser tier of destroying perhaps? We never really saw the first ruler of the Burning Legion, we only saw a "council" of Annihilan (a.k.a. Pit Lords) that fought for supremacy but that was because Sargeras killed their king prior before he found out they kept reincarnated in the Twisting Nether and long before he took control of it.

I don't agree with the point that they are "impersonators/losers" since what they do is keep/create order. The first ones ordered the cosmos and the titans fulfill their part of the cycle, they make sure that wherever disorder exists, they bring order.

The Titans are Losers? Well at least they're the only ones who actually cared about Azeroth and it's inhabitants. They literally willing to imprison themselves together with Sargeras forever when they could just run away and recover after they were released. Sargeras wasn't even gonna use Azeroth to do scary things, he was just gonna destroy it to avoid anyone using it.
The Naruu(Light)? Those dudes forcing everyone.
The Eternal Ones(Afterlife)? Those guys are weak and stupid.
    The Void Lords? Dunno
The First Ones? Gone, never even cared to stay.

WoW no longer has a proper director or lead writer. It is being run not by caretakers of a legacy,, but by the trust fund inheritors who either never played or did not care about the story. When the original writers and managers left, or were invited to leave, there was no proper hand off. You can see it in the abandoning of WoD midway and the utter garbage fire of BfA and the 'F your lore' of Shadowlands. (Legion's story was good because it was BEFORE WoD. It belongs in the Cata-Pandaria story arc. The idocy of the RNG legendary system and the infinite grind artifact is the mobile gaming philosophy of the New sitting on top of the old.)

well its seems to me like the titans just followed up on their logic to make all the things they did. they have a builders/researchers mentality after all. and maybe they took some inspiration from the first ones but calling them imposters and loser roleplayers for adapting and giving a new spin to their predecessor idea's is like calling every guy that wrote a fantasy novel after lord of the rings an imposter. also that broker guy sounds biast himself.

Is it really that bad if our "gods" have gods?
The question of "Who created the creator(s)?" has plagued the edges of religious philosophy for centuries if not millenia.
I like DarkMatter2525's version, where eventually you get to a human under a tree imagining the first creator(s) which created the next and the next and the...which made the humans, that invented the first one(s).
I conceptualized this idea in two manifestations of my D&D campaign. One, since, the Abyss has infinite layers, where the infinityth layer is just the orignial Prime Material (nothing is more chaotic evil than mortals imo) and the second is by creating a seperate timeloop of precisely 42 069 years where the God of Thieves (Dacendaran) steals the intellect of the BBEG and along with Chromie and some OC NPCs (that aren't worth naming, except for Billy Bob Bojenkins, the BBBeg :p teehee) seperate the mind, body and soul across time upon the Astral Planez the inner/outer planes and the Prime Material. The body being in a tower on the Prime Material of my cosmology.

Eh, it's an idiotic retcon. First Ones are just literally a copy of Titans by the new Blizzard writers.
Hence Blizzard tried to make First One "interesting"/"kewl", by making it seem Titans imitated the First Ones. Brokers come of in the book as increadibly haughty, despite not knowing even their own origins, and biased, ie them talking about "lesser magics", insulting shamanism, and claiming Life and Death are above all other forces - making the Broker's come of as arrogant, unreliable narrators (which was aparently partly the intention, but still).
It also seems a kinda late change in writting that First Ones are the "even bigger titans". Art director Ely Cannon described the Winter Queen as "something kind of right below a titan" and even directly compared her to titanic watchers and keepers, possibly hearing the original pitch for the Eternal Ones. The fact that can be easily reproduced and have prototypes, makes them even more smilar to Titanic Watchers. I think First Ones were originally Titans, or similar beings, not artifilated with Order, but Death and Life, created Eternal Ones.
